Background: Liver diseases remain the most important medical and biological problem. Works devoted to the study of the vitamin A role have shown conflicting results of its effect on the fibrosis development. We tested the hypothesis that an increase of the copper content in the liver, an example of which is Wilson's disease, shifts the balance in the redox system towards pro-oxidants, which leads to the antioxidant systems inhibition, including a decrease in the vitamin A content; this affects the levels of liver function regulation and the development of fibrosis.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronically relapsing inflammatory skin disease primarily perpetuated by skin-resident IL-17-producing T (T17) cells. Pellino-1 (Peli1) belongs to a member of E3 ubiquitin ligase mediating immune receptor signaling cascades, including nuclear factor kappa-light-chain enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) pathway.
Objective: We explored the potential role of Peli1 in psoriatic inflammation in the context of skin-resident T17 cells.

One of the most frequent comorbidities that develop in chronically ill or immobilized patients is pressure ulcers, also known as bed sores. Despite ischemia-reperfusion (I/R)-induced skin lesion having been identified as a primary cause of pressure ulcers, wound management efforts have so far failed to significantly improve outcomes. Baicalin, or 5,6,7-trihydroxyflavone, is a type of flavonoid which has been shown to possess a variety of biological characteristics, including antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects and protection of I/R injury.

Background: Hyperpigmented skin disorders such as melasma and lentigo are common photoaging diseases that cause cosmetic problems. The pigmentation is usually exacerbated by ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and various factors and pathways are involved in UV-mediated melanogenesis. Adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP), a well-known molecular unit of intracellular energy, is also regarded as a mediator of UV-mediated melanogenesis via the P2X7 purinergic receptor.

Behçet's disease (BD) is a systemic inflammatory disorder characterized by vasculitis affecting blood vessels of any caliber or type. It can present with a wide spectrum of vasculitic lesions, including erythema nodosum-like lesions and retinal vasculitis, and may also lead to larger vessel diseases, such as aortic aneurysm and deep vein thrombosis. The full etiology of BD remains unclear, but it is considered a polygenetic disease with multiple genetic risk factors that promote immune dysregulation and thrombophilia.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of low-molecular-weight collagen peptides for treating photoaged and dry skin. Patients with refractory bullous pemphigoid (BP) achieve remission after rituximab treatment but require high-dose systemic corticosteroids until the remission. Objective: To assess the AD disease severity and its impact on quality of life (QoL) in patients with AD from South Korea.
Methods: Patients with AD utilizing the specialist dermatology services of major hospitals in South Korea were assessed for disease severity using Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) score, for QoL using Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) (for QoL), and for comorbidities and treatment experience via retrospective review of 12-month medical records.

Objectives: To compare the effectiveness of long-pulsed alexandrite laser (LPAL) with that of pulsed-dye laser (PDL) for rosacea.
Methods: This was a single-blind randomized controlled trial on 27 patients who were clinically diagnosed with rosacea. Randomly assigned split face in each patient received four times monthly treatment of LPAL plus low-fluence Nd:YAG with the contralateral side serving as the control treated with PDL.
