Behçet's disease (BD) is a multisystem disease in which environmental factors provoke an adverse immune response in patients with genetic susceptibility towards BD, subsequently leading to a cascade of dysregulated inflammation throughout the body. It is particularly prevalent in regions spanning the ancient Silk Road, including Korea, where the first known case of BD was reported in 1961. We summarize the history, epidemiology, and clinical presentation of BD in Korea, highlighting the clinical tendencies that are particularly seen in the Korean BD population as compared to European populations.

Current attempts for cosmetic correction of atrophic lesions must be preceded by an evaluation of disease activity of LM, either by a sufficient clinical assessment or histologic evidence. Corrective procedures including corrective surgery, autologous fat grafting, hyaluronic acid filler injections were performed with varying degrees of success; still, there is a need for treatment options with non-invasive and long-term maintenance effects.

Many carcinomas feature hypoxia, a condition has long been associated with tumor progression and poor prognosis, as well as resistance to chemoradiotherapy. Here, we report that the F-box protein JFK promotes mammary tumor initiation and progression in MMTV-PyMT murine model of spontaneous breast cancer. We find that is inducible under hypoxic conditions, in which hypoxia-inducible factor HIF-1α binds to and transcriptionally activates in breast cancer cells.

Aging-associated dermatological pigmentary diseases are associated with accumulation of senescence cells and the disruption of basement membrane due to chronic ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure. Our study is on the synergistic effect of the novel 300 μm needle-depth fractional microneedling radiofrequency (FMR) treatment and conventional Q-switched ND:YAG laser on aging-associated hyperpigmentation of the skin. The prospective controlled clinical trial of 25 Asian women revealed significantly higher improvements not only on wrinkles, but also on hyperpigmentation.
