Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for the vast majority. In recent years, the interaction between inflammation and tumorigenesis has become the focus of attention, which has also confirmed the importance of inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) in prognosis. In this study, we explored the effects of CRP, systemic inflammatory immune index (SII), and monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR) on the prognosis of patients with advanced NSCLC.

The accurate analysis of tumor related biomarkers is extremely critical in the diagnosis of the early stage cervical cancer. Herein, we designed a novel and inexpensive surface-enhanced Raman scattering-based lateral flow assay (SERS-based LFA) strip with a single test line, which was applied for the rapid and sensitive quantitative simultaneous analysis of SCCA and CA125 in serum samples from patients with cervical cancer. In the presence of target antigens, the monoclonal antibody-coupled and Raman reporter-labeled nano-Ag polydopamine nanospheres (PDA@Ag-NPs) aggregated on the test line modified by the polyclonal antibody to form a double-antibody sandwich structure.

The strategy of antibody-free biomarker analysis by in-situ synthesized molecularly imprinted polymers on movable valve paper-based device.

Biosens Bioelectron

October 2019

CAS Key Laboratory of Coastal Environmental Processes and Ecological Remediation; Research Center for Coastal Environmental Engineering and Technology, Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yantai 264003, China. Electronic address:

In this work, we provided a novel strategy of antibody-free biomarker analysis by in-situ synthesized molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) on movable valve microfluidic paper-based electrochemical device (Bio-MIP-ePADs) for clinical detection of biomarkers. The newly movable valves on the device enable continuous and convenient delivery of fluid, which guarantee the performance for fabricating MIPs structure during long time electropolymerization. Moreover, this strategy can directly detect antigens by taking advantage of molecular imprinting on paper-based device, which greatly decreases the cost during clinical testing, reduces the tedious washing procedure and does not need to consider the preservation of the antibody in enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

The Tn antigen, which arises from mutation in the Cosmc gene is one of the most common tumor associated carbohydrate antigens. Cosmc resides in X24 encoded by a single gene and functions as a specific molecular chaperone for T-synthase. While the Tn antigen cannot be detected in normal cells, Cosmc mutations inactivate T-synthase and consequently result in Tn antigen expression within certain cancers.
