The uncertain correlation of ANCAs in patients with lupus nephritis and crescents, an experience from Chinese centers.

Background: The precise role of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs) in the pathologic course of crescentic lupus nephritis (LN) remains unclear. Our study aimed to assess whether ANCA-positive serology in patients with LN and crescents is associated with different clinicopathologic features and outcomes.

Methods: We reviewed the records of 658 patients diagnosed with LN between 2010 and 2022.

Prevalence and risk factors for proximal deep vein thrombosis at admission in patients with traumatic fractures: a multicenter retrospective study.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the associated risk factors for proximal deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with lower extremity and pelvic-acetabular fractures.

Methods: The medical records of 4,056 patients with lower extremity and pelvic-acetabular fractures were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were classified into proximal or non-proximal DVT groups.

Efficacy and safety of Perampanel in the treatment of post stroke epilepsy: A multicenter, real-world study.

Background: Since 2019, Perampanel (PER) has been endorsed in China as an adjunctive treatment for focal seizures, both with and without impaired awareness, and for the transition from focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures. Limited research exists regarding the efficacy of PER in treating post-stroke epilepsy (PSE) in China. Empirical studies are essential to guide treatment protocols.

A 37-Year-Old Man with Myofibroblast Sarcoma Combined with Pleural Maculopathy: Case Report.

Myofibroblastic sarcoma (MS) is a malignant tumor of soft tissue or bone that can occur in children or adults, with a high rate of recurrence and metastasis. We report a case of low-grade malignant MS of the left shoulder, diagnosed based on pathological examination and immunohistochemical staining. However, the patient had unexplained pleural maculopathy.

Risk factors for hypoxaemia following hip fracture surgery in elderly patients who recovered from COVID-19: a multicentre retrospective study.

Objectives: To explore the risk factors associated with postoperative hypoxaemia in elderly patients who have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and underwent hip fracture surgery in the short term.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma with constrictive pericarditis as the first manifestation: A case report.

Pleural mesothelioma (PM) with pericardial involvement is extremely rare. We now report a rare case of malignant PM with constrictive pericarditis as the first presentation. A 59-year-old male diagnosed with constrictive pericarditis underwent pericardiectomy and pericardial pathology revealed mesothelial hyperplasia.

The newly non-uniform endometrial echogenicity on transvaginal ultrasound do not impact in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer success: A retrospective cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of newly non-uniform endometrial echogenicity diagnosed by transvaginal ultrasound on the outcome of pregnancy in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) by retrospective cohort analysis.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of a total of 604 patients with newly non-uniform endometrial echogenicity from January 2013 to June 2017, each woman was matched with three control subjects of similar age (±1 year), type of infertility (primary or secondary), the protocol used for COH, and the number of ET cycles in our unit. The patients in the study group and control group were matched according to the strict 1:3 matching principle.

Enteral nutrition feeding in Chinese intensive care units: a cross-sectional study involving 116 hospitals.

Background: There is a lack of large-scale epidemiological data on the clinical practice of enteral nutrition (EN) feeding in China. This study aimed to provide such data on Chinese hospitals and to investigate factors associated with EN delivery.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was launched in 118 intensive care units (ICUs) of 116 mainland hospitals and conducted on April 26, 2017.

Platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1 or CD31) is a well-known marker of endothelial cells and a key factor for adhesion and accumulation of platelets. CD31 plays roles in cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and cellular immunity. CD31 is also expressed on tumor cells, such as breast cancer cells and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, and contributes to tumor cell invasion.

Colony-stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1) and its receptor, CSF-1R, regulate the differentiation and function of macrophages and play an important role in macrophage infiltration in the context of hepatocellular carcinoma. The therapeutic effects of CSF-1R blockade in hepatocellular carcinoma remain unclear. In this study, we found that CSF-1R blockade by PLX3397, a competitive inhibitor with high specificity for CSF-1R tyrosine kinase, significantly delayed tumor growth in mouse models.

Cell wound scratch assay, flow cytometry and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) were adopted to study the effects of anoxia and temperature, etc.

Glutamine ameliorates intestinal ischemia-reperfusion Injury in rats by activating the Nrf2/Are signaling pathway.

Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R)-mediated intestinal mucosal injury is usually induced by oxygen-derived toxic free radicals from the xanthine oxidase system after reperfusion, but the detailed molecular mechanisms underlying glutamine protection is still unclear. This study aims to elucidate whether glutamine prevents damage to the intestinal mucosa after I/R in rats and to investigate signaling by the Nrf2/ARE pathway induced by GLN in a rat model. Our results revealed that Glutamine pretreatment reduced jejunum injury and microvascular hyper-permeability induced by I/R.

Robo1 promotes angiogenesis in hepatocellular carcinoma through the Rho family of guanosine triphosphatases' signaling pathway.

Robo1 is a member of the Robo immunoglobulin superfamily of proteins, and it plays an important role in angiogenesis and cancer. In this study, we investigate the role of roundabout 1 (Robo1) in tumor angiogenesis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Firstly, the relationship between Robo1 expression on tumors and patient's survival and endothelial cells in tumor blood vessels and patient's survival was studied.

Background: Overexpression of microRNA-182 (miR-182) is found in various human cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Our aim is to investigate the association of miR-182 expression with the sensitivity of NSCLC to cisplatin.

Methods: TaqMan RT-PCR or Western blot assay was performed to detect the expression of mature miR-182 and programmed cell death 4 (PDCD4) protein.

Rapamycin alleviates brain edema after focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion in rats.

Brain edema is a major consequence of cerebral ischemia reperfusion. However, few effective therapeutic options are available for retarding the brain edema progression after cerebral ischemia. Recently, rapamycin has been shown to produce neuroprotective effects in rats after cerebral ischemia reperfusion.

Intestinal T-cell lymphomas: a retrospective analysis of 68 cases in China.

Aim: To investigate the clinical features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of intestinal T-cell lymphomas (ITCL) by retrospective analysis.

Methods: Sixty-eight patients who were diagnosed with ITCL in case reports in the Chinese literature were compiled and reviewed. Age, gender, CD56 expression, surgical management, multifocal nature, perforation and cyclophosphamide chemotherapy were analyzed as the prognostic factors.

Inhibition of protein kinase C signal reduces ET receptor expression and basilar vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage in rats.

Endothelin-1 (ET-1), acting through specific ET(A) and/or ET(B) receptors, plays an important role in cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). However, the mechanism remains unclear. In the present study, ET receptors' expression in the basiliar artery during cerebral vasospasm and the possible involvement of protein kinase C (PKC) were investigated using immunofluorescence staining and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in a rat SAH model of delayed cerebral vasospasm (DCVS).

Alveolar soft part sarcoma of the uterine corpus with pelvic lymph node metastasis: case report and literature review.

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare malignant soft tissue tumor, mainly localized in the extremities, occurring principally in adolescents and young adults. ASPS is uncommon in the female genital tract , and only 37 cases have been reported so far, including 9 cases in the uterine corpus and 17 cases in the uterine cervix. We here reported a case of ASPS occurring in the lower uterine segment .
