The aim of this work is to develop an environmentally friendly, safe, and simple route for realizing efficient preparation of aspirin. Here, inspired by enzyme synthesis in vivo, the aspirin synthesis has been realized by sub-nanoconfined esterification with directional flow and ≈100% conversion in an unprecedented reaction time of <6.36 s at 23 °C.

Layered MXene nanofluidic membranes still face the problems of low mechanical property, poor ion selectivity, and low output power density. In this work, we successfully constructed heterostructured membranes with the combination of the layered channels of the MXene layer on the top and the nanoscale poly(-phenylene-benzodioxazole) nanofiber (PBONF) layer on the bottom through a stepwise filtration method. Dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) is a vital sulfur-containing compound with worldwide significance, serving as the primary precursor for dimethyl sulfide (DMS), a volatile sulfur compound that plays a role in atmospheric chemistry and influences the Earth's climate on a global scale. The study investigated the ability of four bacterial strains, namely MS2-2 (MS2-2), E18 (E18), 22705 (22705), and DSM22198 (DSM22198), to produce and degrade DMSP. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are increasingly applied in water and wastewater treatment, but their energy consumption and chemical use may hinder their further implementation in a changing world. This study investigated the feasibility and mechanisms involved in a chemical-free nanobubble-based AOP for treating organic micropollutants in both synthetic and real water matrices. The removal efficiency of the model micropollutant Rhodamine B (RhB) by oxygen nanobubble AOP (98%) was significantly higher than for air (73%) and nitrogen nanobubbles (69%).

The adaptive control of sunlight through photochromic smart windows could have a huge impact on the energy efficiency and daylight comfort in buildings. However, the fabrication of inorganic nanoparticle and polymer composite photochromic films with a high contrast ratio and high transparency/low haze remains a challenge. Here, a solution method is presented for the in situ growth of copper-doped tungsten trioxide nanoparticles in polymethyl methacrylate, which allows a low-cost preparation of photochromic films with a high luminous transparency (luminous transmittance T = 91%) and scalability (30 × 350 cm ).

In this paper, the interfacial properties of extended surfactants with different oxypropylene (PO) groups were comprehensively investigated by using interfacial dilational rheology. The differences in molecular orientation, spatial configuration, and relaxation process were compared at the gas-water interface and oil-water interface. Rechargeable zinc-air batteries (ZABs) have been considered promising as next-generation sustainable energy storage devices; however, their large-scale deployment is hampered by the unsatisfactory cyclic lifespan. Employing neutral and mild-acidic electrolytes is effective in extending the cyclability, but the rapid performance degradation of the bifunctional catalysts owing to different microenvironmental requirements of the alternative oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is still a serious limitation of their cyclic life. Herein, we propose a "self-decoupling" strategy to significantly improve the stability of the bifunctional catalysts by constructing a smart interface in the bifunctional air electrode.

A photoinduced charge transfer complex (CTC)-enabled photoreduction of carborane phosphonium salts for the cage carbon (hetero)arylation of carboranes was developed. It offers a convenient approach for introducing a wide range of aryl and heteroaryl groups, such as pyrroles, thiophenes, indoles, thianaphthenes, benzofurans, pyridines, and benzenes, into carboranes.
