Gleason Score (GS) 3 + 4 prostate cancer (PCa) is heterogeneous in clinical course and molecular features. Risk stratification of indolent and aggressive PCa with GS 3 + 4 is critical, especially those with bone metastasis (BM) potential. Microarray-based microRNA(miRNA) profiling with eight PCa cases with or without BM was used to screen the candidate miRNAs associated with BM.

Neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NHT) prior to radical prostatectomy (RP) is an approach that can potentially maximize survival outcomes in prostate cancer (PCa) patients with high-risk disease. Unfortunately, subsets of patients do not respond well to such hormonal therapy. We previously identified several pathological parameters in predicting differences in response to NHT of PCa.

The primary goals of neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NHT) in prostate cancer (PCa) are to reduce the size of the tumor, lower positive surgical margin rate, attempt to reach pathologic remission, and improve survival. Although NHT has not been recommended by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network as a primary treatment option for patients with localized PCa, NHT is increasingly used in clinical trials for locally advanced PCa. More importantly, with the development of novel androgen signaling inhibitors, such as abiraterone and enzalutamide, there has been renewed interests in revisiting the role of such treatment in the neoadjuvant setting.

Abutilon indicum Linn (A. indicum) is native to tropical and subtropical zones and traditionally used in ulcer, diabetes, piles, jaundice, gonorrhoea and leprosy. Erstwhile phytochemical analysis showed the presence of flavonoids, sesquiterpenes, gallic acid, β-sitosterols, geraniol, and caryophyllene.

The new generation androgen receptor (AR) pathway inhibitor enzalutamide can prolong the survival of patients with metastatic prostate cancer. However, resistance to enzalutamide inevitably develops in these patients, and the underlying mechanisms of this resistance are not fully defined. Here we demonstrate that the kinesin family member 15 (KIF15) contributes to enzalutamide resistance by enhancing the AR signaling in prostate cancer cells.

The synthesized nanoparticles, with a narrow size range and good distribution, are characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. SEM and TEM micrographs proved formation of mostly spherical or ellipsoidal nanoparticles with little agglomeration, and the average particle size was less than 20-35 nm for both types of nanoparticle.

Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) and bone metastasis have been both identified to associate with unfavorable clinical outcome of the prostate carcinoma (PCa). Our objective is to examine whether IDC-P or bone metastasis at diagnostic biopsies was associated with each other and whether they were linked with overall survival (OS) and cancer specific survival (CSS) of Grade Group 5 patients. We retrospectively selected the prostate biopsy specimens of 120 PCa patients with Grade Group 5 from Qilu Hospital of Shandong University between 2012 and 2016.

Objectives: The predictive value of the histological parameters and molecular markers for neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NHT) in prostate cancer (PCa) has not been well established. The aim of this study is to determine pathological variables that can predict differences in response to NHT in PCa.
Methods: A total of 85 locally high risk PCa patients with matched preoperative needle biopsies and radical prostatectomy (RP) specimens were included.

This study explored the effects of probucol on atherosclerotic plaques and soluble thrombomodulin in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Five hundred and eighty-three patients with CHD who were admitted to Jining First People's Hospital from February 2013 to February 2014. A total of 300 of them received conventional treatment, and were assigned to the control group, while the remaining 283 patients were treated with probucol in addition to the conventional treatment, and were assigned to the observation group.

Background: Patients with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (nsclc) experience great pain and stress. Our study aimed to explore the effect of early palliative care on quality of life in patients with nsclc.
Methods: A total of 150 patients were randomly divided into two groups: control group with conventional care and study group with early palliative care.

The present study was planned to investigate the characteristics of nosocomial infection and its effects on the survival in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Retrospective analysis was performed for the 169 chemotherapy patients with NSCLC and nosocomial infection during hospitalization in Binzhou City Central Hospital from March, 2013 to January, 2015. In addition, 170 patients without nosocomial infection were also involved as a control group.

MicroRNA (miR)-150 has been demonstrated to protect the heart from ischemic injury. However, the protective effect of miR‑150 in hypoxia‑injured cardiomyocytes remains unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the target gene of miR‑150 and the underlying molecular mechanisms of miR‑150 in hypoxia‑induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis.

Background: Bladder cancer is the fourth most common malignancy among men urinary system and it is a complex disease caused by genetic and environmental factors.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of hepatocellular carcinoma up-regulated long non-coding RNA (lncRNA HULC) on bladder cancer and to reveal the potential mechanisms.
Methods: The expression level of HULC in 276 bladder cancer patients was detected.

BACKGROUND The purpose of our study was to investigate the role of microRNA (miR)-148b in cervical cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS The expression of miR-148b was determined in HPV-16-immortalized cervical epithelial cell line CRL-2614 cells and in cervical cancer cell line HeLa cells. The miR-148b mimics or scrambled RNA were then transfected into Hela cells.
