Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is characterized by high incidence, significant mortality, and marked heterogeneity, making accurate molecular subtyping essential for effective treatment. Using multi-omics data from HCC patients, we applied diverse clustering algorithms to identify three HCC subtypes (HSs) with distinct prognostic characteristics. Among these, HS1 emerged as an immune-compromised subtype associated with the poorest prognosis.

Background: To identify the impact of surgical compliance on survival in patients with kidney cancer and to explore the factors that influence surgical compliance.
Methods: Clinical date of kidney cancer patients were identified from the SEER databases, and the patients were divided into surgical compliance group and surgical noncompliance group. Cox survival analysis and Kaplan-Meier curves were used to evaluate the effect of surgical compliance on overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS).

Numerous studies have explored the relationship between pharmacological treatment regimens and the quality of life (QoL) of type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. However, there is a dearth of comparative studies focusing on the QoL among rural T2D patients in China across 3 distinct pharmacological treatments: oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs), insulin therapy, and a combination of OADs and insulin. Additionally, the specific correlation between these treatment regimens and distinct dimensions of QoL remains unclear, necessitating further investigation.

Background: With the increasing application of neoadjuvant therapy in rectal adenocarcinoma, there remain many controversies in clinical practical applications. Preoperative radiotherapy (PR) can limit the surgical plane and potentially affect the quality of surgical treatment. This study aimed to investigate the potential impact of PR on the surgical quality of rectal adenocarcinoma.

The combination of chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy (PDT), enabled by core-shell nano-platforms, is a promising method to improve cancer therapy by overcoming hypoxia and boosting drug penetration in breast tumor. Core-shell magnetic (iron oxide: Fe3O4)@platinum-metal organic framework/epirubicin (abbreviated as M@Pt-MOF/EPI) nano-platform is considered an effective cancer therapeutic agent. Relatively small particle size, round shape, and specific response to pH, are the key features of these nanomaterials to be used as promising therapeutic agents.

Background: The effect of different functional dependency types on cardiovascular disease (CVD) is largely unknown. Here, we aimed to investigate the association between functional dependence and CVD among middle-aged and older adults by conducting a cross-sectional and longitudinal study.
Methods: The study sample comprised 16,459 individuals of ≥40 years (including 10,438 without CVD) who had participated in the 2011 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).

The impact of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) intake on cognitive performance among older adults in the United States (US) remains inadequately understood. This study aimed to explore the association between vitamin B2 intake and cognitive performance among non-institutionalized elderly people in the US. Weighted logistic regression was used to evaluate the association between vitamin B2 intake and cognitive performance.

Background: Lung cancer accounts for a significant proportion of cancer-related deaths in China, with the majority of the cases being classified as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study aimed to investigate the expression of serum SNHG22 in patients with NSCLC, and its molecular mechanism and prognostic potential in NSCLC.
Methods: Admitted 125 NSCLC patients were selected for the study, along with 125 healthy individuals in the same period.

Background: Patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in rural China frequently exhibit inadequate diabetes self-management (DSM) and a reduced quality of life (QoL). Social support and self-efficacy are known to influence DSM and QoL. However, the pathways through which social support and self-efficacy impact DSM and QoL among patients with T2D in rural China has yet to be fully elucidated.

Congenital myopathies (CMs) are a kind of non-progressive or slow-progressive muscle diseases caused by genetic mutations, which are currently defined and categorized mainly according to their clinicopathological features. CMs exhibit pleiotropy and genetic heterogeneity. Currently, supportive treatment and pharmacological remission are the mainstay of treatment, with no cure available.

Background: Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) represents a significant proportion of renal cell carcinomas and is characterized by high aggressiveness and poor prognosis despite advancements in immunotherapy. Disulfidptosis, a novel cell death pathway, has emerged as a critical mechanism in various cellular processes, including cancer. This study leverages machine learning to identify disulfidptosis-related long noncoding RNAs (DRlncRNAs) as potential prognostic biomarkers in KIRC, offering new insights into tumor pathogenesis and treatment avenues.

Sertraline hydrochloride belongs to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor class of antidepressants, which can cause respiratory depression, hypotension, malignant vomiting, liver function impairment, and other symptoms when taken in excess. To our knowledge, reports of sertraline hydrochloride overdose causing diabetes insipidus in patients are rare. This report describes a unique case of a 17-year-old female patient who developed diabetes insipidus after a one-time oral intake of 20 sertraline hydrochloride tablets (50 mg/tablet) during the later course of treatment.
