Introduction: One of the predictable and preventable complications that may occur after transaortic valve implantation (TAVI) is the requirement for permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation.

Aim: To evaluate the relationship between aortic knob calcification (AKC) assessed by preoperative chest X-ray and the requirement for post-procedure PPM implantation for patients who underwent TAVI.

Material And Methods: This study was conducted with 110 patients who underwent TAVI with a Myval transcatheter heart valve in our center between June 2020 and December 2022.

Article Synopsis
  • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) involves upper airway obstruction during sleep, leading to conditions that may cause hypoxia, which affects symptoms and related diseases.
  • The study compared time perception between individuals with varying severities of OSA and healthy controls, using tests to measure how participants perceive time.
  • Findings revealed that individuals with OSA had a slower internal clock, with the slowdown intensifying in severity from mild to severe OSA, suggesting that recurrent hypoxia impacts attention and time perception.

Recent genomic studies emphasize the necessity of molecular classification to reflect diverse clinical and pathological characteristics of bladder cancer. Immunohistochemically bladder cancer can be classified into molecular subtypes, including basal, luminal, and p53-like subtypes. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is frequently expressed in basal-type bladder cancers and is associated with poor prognosis.

The primary objective of this in vitro study was to prevent the risk of toxicity associated with bupivacaine, widely used in clinical practice, by using magnesium (Mg), a readily available and cost-effective element, as an adjuvant. We hypothesized that Mg might exhibit a protective effect against cytotoxicity in a colon cell culture model under conditions of bupivacaine-induced LAST. Our secondary aim was to investigate its effect on genotoxicity, apoptosis, and iROS.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of the presence of subchorionic hematoma (SH) in early pregnancies with threatened miscarriage (TM) on levels of first-trimester maternal serum markers, pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), and free β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) levels.

Methods: The data of TM cases with SH in the first trimester between 2015 and 2021 were evaluated retrospectively. The data of age and gestational age-matched TM cases without SH were also assessed to constitute a control group.

Background Ureteropelvic junction stenosis (UPJS) is the most common cause of clinically significant antenatal hydronephrosis. We compared separate renal function results obtained using technetium-99m-mercaptoacetyltriglycine (Tc-99m MAG-3) and technetium-99m-dimercaptosuccinic acid (Tc-99m DMSA) in pediatric patients with UPJS to evaluate the adequacy of Tc-99m MAG-3 scintigraphy and the necessity of additional Tc-99m DMSA scintigraphy during follow-up. Methodology Patients diagnosed with hydronephrosis in the Pediatric Nephrology Department of Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine over a period of 10 years (2012-2022) were evaluated retrospectively.

Objectives: The challenge of achieving low disease activity or remission in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is an unmet need for many patients. Persistent disease activity in PsA may require treatment adjustments due to its complex pathogenesis and varied tissue involvement, highlighting the need for dedicated definitions. This study evaluates patients' frequency and contributing factors with potential "difficult-to-treat PsA (D2TPsA)", similar to the EULAR definition of D2T rheumatoid arthritis.

Background/aim: Despite advancements in valve technology and increased clinical experience, complications related to conduction defects after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVR) have not improved as rapidly as expected. In this study, we aimed to predict the development of complete atrioventricular (AV) block and bundle branch block during and after the TAVR procedure and to investigate any changes in the cardiac conduction system before and after the procedure using electrophysiological study.

Materials And Methods: A total of 30 patients who were scheduled for TAVR at our cardiovascular council were planned to be included in the study.

: A deficiency in serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels is associated with a number of cardiovascular situations, such as high blood pressure, heart failure, atherosclerotic heart disease, and peripheral artery disease. The frontal QRS-T angle has recently been proposed as a marker of ventricular repolarization. A wider frontal QRS-T angle has been positively correlated with adverse cardiac events.
