Unlabelled: Diaphragmatic atrophy (DA) and lung injury (LI) have been associated with mechanical ventilation (MV). We aimed to assess the ultrasonographic changes in diaphragmatic thickness and LI during MV and their prediction for extubation failure in preterm infants. In this prospective observational study, mechanically ventilated preterm infants, < 30 weeks gestation, within the first 24 h of life underwent a baseline, within 24 h of MV, and serial diaphragmatic and lung ultrasounds scans until their first extubation attempt.

Subglottic and posterior glottic stenosis (PGS) narrows distinct areas of the larynx, while bilateral vocal fold immobility (BVFI) is characterized by static cords. Treatments include open surgeries and newer endoscopic methods, offering comparable safety, quicker recovery, and fewer complications. This study assesses the decannulation rate of endoscopic posterior cricoid split with posterior cartilage grafting (EPCCG) in pediatric patients with posterior glottic stenosis, subglottic stenosis (SGS), and BVFI.

Esophageal achalasia (EA) is a rare primary esophageal motility disorder that is considered a rare etiology of dysphagia among infants and children. The proposed primary pathophysiology is related to the loss of ganglion cells in the distal esophageal sphincters, particularly in the Auerbachian muscle layer, which then leads to the dysmotility and failure of lower esophageal sphincter relaxation. Dysphagia, vomiting, poor weight gain, cough, and recurrent aspiration pneumonia are the most common presenting complaints.

Herein, we developed a glucose oxidase-zeolitic imidazolate framework-8-antibody composite (GOx@ZIF-8@Ab) to achieve highly sensitive point-of-care testing (POCT) of urinary prostatic exosomal protein (PSEP) by combining it with a personal glucometer (PGM). The developed GOx@ZIF-8@Ab was prepared through a simple but effective biomineralization reaction and a strong binding affinity between Zn and Fc region of the antibody.
