Emotion Regulation, Theory of Mind, and Attachment to Parents and Peers Among Turkish Adolescent Offenders and Victims: A Single-Center, Cross-Sectional, Case-Control Study.

Background: There may be many risk factors for both youth offending and victimization. In our study, we aimed to compare youth offenders and victims in terms of attachment characteristics, emotion regulation, and mind-reading skills.

Methods: This study employed a single-center, cross-sectional, case-control design.

Parent rated bedtime resistance and comorbidity may predict levels of attention among Turkish children diagnosed with ADHD in on-line education classes during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the attention levels, of Turkish children and adolescents with Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in on-line education classes with healthy controls.

Methods: This study is a cross-sectional, internet-based, case-control study that recruited 6-18 years old patients diagnosed with ADHD and receving treatment and healthy controls from eight centers. The measurements used in the study were prepared in the google survey and delivered to the participants via Whatsapp application.

Evaluation of demographic, clinical, and aetiological data of patients admitted to cardiology clinics and diagnosed with left ventricular hypertrophy in Turkish population (LVH-TR).

Background: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is potentially modifiable cardiovascular risk factor often overlooked in clinical practice. For this reason, we planned to LVH-TR (Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Turkish Population) trial to determine the aetiological causes and demographic characteristics of LVH patients.

Methods: Our study was a multicentre, national, observational study and included 886 patients who applied to the cardiology clinics in 22 centres between February 2020 and August 2021.

Impaired Affect Perception in Presence of Spared Electrodermal Activity with Affective Stimuli Among Children with Specific Learning Disorder: A Controlled Study.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare children with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) and matched controls in terms of nonverbal communication skills, understanding of emotions, electrodermal activity (EDA) changes and response latencies measured with affective stimuli.

Method: The study was designed as a single-center, cross-sectional, controlled study. KA-SI Empathic Tendency Scale-Child Form, Test of Perception of Affect-Via Nonverbal Cues (TPANC) were used for both groups.

Is biofeedback-assisted pelvic floor muscle training superior to pelvic floor muscle training alone in the treatment of dysfunctional voiding in women? A prospective randomized study.

Purpose: To compare the effectiveness of biofeedback-assisted pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) and PFMT alone on voiding parameters in women with dysfunctional voiding (DV).

Materials And Methods: The patients in group 1 (34 patients) were treated with biofeedback-assisted PFMT, and the patients in group 2 (34 patients) were treated with PFMT alone for 12 weeks. The 24-hour frequency, average voided volume, maximum urine flow rate (Qmax), average urine flow rate (Qave), post-void residual urine volume (PVR), and the validated Turkish Urogenital Distress Inventory (UDI-6) symptom scores were recorded before and after 12 weeks of treatment.

Comparison of diagnostic accuracy of point-of-care ultrasonography and X-ray of bony injuries of the knee.

Purpose: We aimed to compare the accuracy of point-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS) and X-ray (XR) in the diagnosis of knee bone fractures and fracture characteristics in cases of injuries to the knee.

Methods: The study was conducted in the emergency department (ED) of a tertiary hospital between March 2017 and March 2019. It included patients who presented to the ED with isolated knee injuries, were suspected to have a bony lesion based on clinical examinations, and were ultimately referred for XR.

COVID-19: vaccination vs. hospitalization.

Objective: Vaccination is the most efficient way to control the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, but vaccination rates remain below the target level in most countries. This multicenter study aimed to evaluate the vaccination status of hospitalized patients and compare two different booster vaccine protocols.

Setting: Inoculation in Turkey began in mid-January 2021.

The evaluation of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) cases with saline injection method in video-EEG monitorization unit.

Background: It has been reported that 10 to 30% of patients sent to epilepsy centers with a diagnosis of refractory epilepsy are diagnosed with psychogenic non-epileptic seizure (PNES). A wide variety of provocative methods are used to assist PNES diagnosis.

Objective: To investigate the effect of seizure induction on the diagnosis and prognosis of PNES.

A Rare Case: Primary Venous Malformation in Parietal Bone.

Primary intraosseous vascular malformations (PIVMs) are rare intraosseous lesions, accounting for approximately 0.5-1% of all intraosseous tumours. In this case report, we aimed to present a rare case of intraosseous vascular malformation causing a large lytic area in the parietal bone.

Midline Mandibular Cleft Treatment.

Tessier 30 cleft is a more rare anomaly comparing the other clefts and has variable clinical presentations. According to the literature, there were only 66 cases with Tessier 30 cleft reported since 2007. Furthermore, because of the rarity and variable clinical presentation of this condition, there is no consensus on the mode of management and timing of surgical procedures.

Evaluation of the effectiveness of the tuba uterina tubular flap in the peripheral nervous system regeneration in rats.

Nerve conduits could be used to provide a bridge between both nerve endings. In this study, the tuba uterina of female rats were prepared in a vascularized pedicled flap model and it used as a nerve conduit. The aim was to investigate the effectiveness of a vascularized pedicle nerve conduit and its ciliated epithelium in a sciatic nerve defect.

The predictors of catheter-related bloodstream infections in patients undergoing hemodialysis: A single center experience.

Background: Here we aimed to investigate the predictors of catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) in patients with acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease who required renal replacement therapy through a non-tunneled hemodialysis catheter.

Methods: A total of 111 patients who received non-tunneled hemodialysis catheters were retrospectively evaluated. Patients were divided into two groups; those who developed CRBSI and those who did not.

Predictive value of post-procedural hyponatremia on contrast-induced nephropathy in patients who underwent coronary angiography or percutaneous coronary intervention.

Objective: Hyponatremia is a prognostic marker for specific pathologies. However, the association between contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) and post-procedural hyponatremia has not been explored. Our study aims to evaluate the association between hyponatremia developing after contrast media administration and CIN.

Impaired left atrial strain in the presence of interatrial block in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most common chronic diseases, and is a risk factor for atrial cardiomyopathy. Interatrial block (IAB), as a predictor of AF, is correlated with the extent of LA fibrosis in the process of atrial cardiomyopathy. We have not encountered any study evaluating LA and LV functions with 3D-STE in the presence of IAB in the T2DM patients.

Role of ultrasound simulators in the training for Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST).

Background: The present study aims to investigate the efficacy of ultrasound simulators in the training of the health staff working in the emergency department of a university hospital on Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST).

Methods: This study was conducted on emergency medicine residents, medical interns and paramedics of the emergency department of Selçuk University Medical Faculty, prospectively. The participants were given theoretical and practical training on FAST using the SonoSim® USG simulator.

Assessment of sensory outcomes after successful fingertip replantation with or without nerve repair according to amputation level.

Background: Good sensory outcome in fingertip replantation is a major part of the success of reconstruction and using the finger. Although some sensorial outcomes have been reported in various series in the literature, there is no controlled study, which demonstrates the anatomical levels where nerve repair should or should not be performed. We aimed to assess sensorial outcomes of fingertip amputations with or without nerve coaptation according to amputation level.

COVID-19 Treatment at a Glance.

As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spreads across the world, the ongoing clinical trials are leading to a big race worldwide to develop a treatment that will help control the pandemic. Unfortunately, COVID-19 does not have any known effective treatment with reliable study results yet. In this pandemic, there is not a lot of time to develop a new specific agent because of the rapid spread of the disease.

Reconstruction of Below Knee Stump with Free Plantar Fillet Flap: A Case Report.

Here, we present a 45-year-old male patient who had right leg fracture in several pieces, arterial ischemia, multiple muscle, tendon losses and degloving injury on the distal thigh and knee undergoing emergency surgery due to a high-energy traffic accident and explain our experience with reconstruction of below knee stump using free plantar fillet flap in order to prevent above knee amputation in a patient with vascular injuries, multi-part fractures and soft tissue losses in the lower extremity.

Histopathological evaluation of the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on capsule occurrence around silicone breast prosthesis: an experimental study.

Background: In general, capsular contracture is the underlying cause of complications such as pain, stiffening, breast asymmetry, and animation deformity that are seen in the late postoperative period due to the use of silicone breast prostheses. Considering the positive effects of HBO therapy on wound healing, the objective of this study was to investigate the effect of HBO therapy on capsule reaction occurring due to silicone implants.

Material And Methods: Rats were divided into four groups.

Ultra-mini flexible percutaneous nephrolithotomy in the treatment of moderate-size kidney stones: a new instrument, a preliminary prospective study.

Ultra-mini PNL is increasingly preferred in the treatment of kidney stones. Unlike routine applications of the ultra-mini PNL technique, we aimed to perform kidney stones treatment with an epiduroscopic device that can pass through 11-13-Fr ureteral access sheaths with a flexible structure and which is routine in neurosurgical practice. The study was planned prospectively.

Speckle tracking echocardiography and left ventricular twist mechanics: predictive capabilities for noncompaction cardiomyopathy in the first degree relatives.

In non-compaction cardiomyopathy (NCCM), there are several echocardiographic and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-based quantitative diagnostic indices, current criteria mainly placed on morphological features, and none of the diagnostic indices includes left ventricular (LV) function. LV function and hemodynamics could be normal in NCCM patients. Evaluation of left ventricular function at the subclinical stage, strain echocardiographic parameters could be used alternative to standard echocardiographic examinations.

Serum Uric Acid Levels among Patients who Died in Recent Year due to Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction.

Objective: To examine the relationship of uric acid levels in the last one year with exitus due to heart failure (HF) with clinical and demographic data of patients.
