Antibiotics have been well documented to result in several dermatological adverse reactions. Many of these adverse reactions are rashes that are difficult to distinguish. We present a case of a female patient in her 30s with acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis following vancomycin treatment for left breast cellulitis.

High-copy-number plasmids are indispensable tools for gene overexpression studies in prokaryotes to engineer pathways or probe phenotypes of interest. The development of genetic tools for the industrially relevant Actinobacteria is of special interest, given their utility in producing keratolytic enzymes and biologically active natural products. Within the Actinobacteria, shuttle vectors based on the SCP2* and pIJ101 incompatibility groups are widely employed for molecular cloning and gene expression studies.

This project explored what constitutes "ethical practice of mathematics". Thematic analysis of ethical practice standards from mathematics-adjacent disciplines (statistics and computing), were combined with two organizational codes of conduct and community input resulting in over 100 items. These analyses identified 29 of the 52 items in the 2018 American Statistical Association Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice, and 15 of the 24 additional (unique) items from the 2018 Association of Computing Machinery Code of Ethics for inclusion.

spp. are "nature's antibiotic factories" that produce valuable bioactive metabolites, such as the cytotoxic anthracycline polyketides. While the anthracyclines have hundreds of natural and chemically synthesized analogues, much of the chemical diversity stems from enzymatic modifications to the saccharide chains and, to a lesser extent, from alterations to the core scaffold.

Background And Objectives: Climate change is a major threat to the health of people worldwide. The health care system deals with the immediate health-related effects of climate change and, at the same time, is a major emitter of greenhouse gas. This study aimed to investigate (a) the awareness and perception of climate change among family medicine residency program directors, and (b) the state of climate change education in family medicine residency programs.

Introduction: Promoting diversity among faculty, administrators, and librarians in schools and colleges of pharmacy (SCOP) would be beneficial for the recruitment and retention of students from diverse backgrounds. Graduating such diverse pharmacists could assist in reducing healthcare disparities. Promoting diversity requires a climate that is inclusive of people from all backgrounds.

Introduction: The epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) in combination with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) agents have shown improved survival outcomes in recent studies. However, its efficacy related to survival outcomes as a first- or second-line agent and based on generations remains to be explored. This study estimated the survival outcomes of EGFR-TKIs plus anti-VEGFR in combination in defined populations of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients overall, as a first- or second line of treatment, with different generations of EGFR-TKIs and EGFR-TKIs plus bevacizumab combination as a subgroup.

Objective: To determine what resources are available and useful for the professional development of mid-career faculty (MCF) in pharmacy education to foster career advancement.
Methods: A 37-question survey was sent to 7236 members of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, an estimated 4640 of whom represented the target population of associate professors, full professors, and administrators. Semi-structured focus groups involving these 3 groups of faculty were held to provide additional insight.

Objectives: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and/or dementia is a prevalent neurocognitive disorder primarily affecting individuals over the age of 65. Identifying specific causes of AD and/or dementia can be challenging, with emerging evidence suggesting a potential association with autoimmune inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to assess the prevalence rate of AD and/or dementia among Medicare beneficiaries reporting an autoimmune disorder.

The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess and contrast the efficacy and safety of combining erlotinib and bevacizumab with erlotinib alone in the treatment of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The authors searched databases such as PubMed, Medline, Scopus, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials for randomized control trials (RCTs) comparing erlotinib plus bevacizumab with erlotinib in NSCLC patients. The overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), and adverse events (AEs) were the outcomes of interest.

Deep learning-based clinical imaging analysis underlies diagnostic artificial intelligence (AI) models, which can match or even exceed the performance of clinical experts, having the potential to revolutionize clinical practice. A wide variety of automated machine learning (autoML) platforms lower the technical barrier to entry to deep learning, extending AI capabilities to clinicians with limited technical expertise, and even autonomous foundation models such as multimodal large language models. Here, we provide a technical overview of autoML with descriptions of how autoML may be applied in education, research, and clinical practice.

Despite taking on heavier teaching and service loads, an expanding research program, and serving as mentors to junior faculty, mid-career faculty often feel unsupported. Providing a solid foundation through resource allocation and sharing between and within institutions can facilitate establishment or improvement of faculty development initiatives, workload equity, transparent policies, routine performance evaluation, a process for faculty recognition, and a system of mentoring to create an environment where this essential group of faculty can continue to grow. The following discussion, which includes suggested methods to achieve these goals with a focus on mid-career faculty, serves as a call to action for pharmacy school administrators to assess the state of mid-career faculty at their institution, and if indicated, implement systems that promote success among this group.

Autophagy, an autophagosome and lysosome-based eukaryotic cellular degradation system, has previously been implicated in lifespan regulation in different animal models. In this report, we show that expression of the RNAi transgenes targeting the transcripts of the key autophagy genes Atg1 or Atg18 in adult fly muscle or glia does not affect the overall levels of autophagosomes in those tissues and does not change the lifespan of the tested flies but the lifespan reduction phenotype has become apparent when Atg1 RNAi or Atg18 RNAi is expressed ubiquitously in adult flies or after autophagy is eradicated through the knockdown of Atg1 or Atg18 in adult fly adipocytes. Lifespan reduction was also observed when Atg1 or Atg18 was knocked down in adult fly enteroblasts and midgut stem cells.

Community pharmacists serve a large, diverse population of patients, resulting in the potential to utilize community pharmacies as recruitment sites for clinical research. Beyond traditional roles as one of the most accessible health care professionals in the US healthcare system, pharmacists have played a major role in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, administering hundreds of thousands of vaccines and tests. However, less emphasis is placed on the ability to leverage community pharmacies as research-focused partners for clinical studies.
