Ebola virus disease kills more than half of people infected. Since the disease is transmitted via close human contact, identifying individuals at the highest risk of developing the disease is possible on the basis of the type of contact (correlated with viral exposure). Different candidates for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP; ie, vaccines, antivirals, and monoclonal antibodies) each have their specific benefits and limitations, which we discuss in this Viewpoint.

Purpose: Prostate cancer diagnosis is confirmed with a prostate biopsy, which is invasive and unpleasant. Adding canine olfaction into the diagnostic protocol could help avoid unnecessary biopsies. This study aims to determine whether dogs can identify ISUP (International Society of Urological Pathology) > 2 prostate cancer.

Scope: This European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases guideline provides evidence-based recommendations to support a selection of appropriate antibiotic use practices for patients seen in the emergency department (ED) and guidance for their implementation. The topics addressed in this guideline are (a) Do biomarkers or rapid pathogen tests improve antibiotic prescribing and/or clinical outcomes? (b) Does taking blood cultures in common infectious syndromes improve antibiotic prescribing and/or clinical outcomes? (c) Does watchful waiting without antibacterial therapy or with delayed antibiotic prescribing reduce antibiotic prescribing without worsening clinical outcomes in patients with specific infectious syndromes? (d) Do structured culture follow-up programs in patients discharged from the ED with cultures pending improve antibiotic prescribing?
Methods: An expert panel was convened by European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and the guideline chair. The panel selected in consensus the four most relevant antimicrobial stewardship topics according to pre-defined relevance criteria.

Background: Fusion imaging systems have proved to reduce radiation exposure mostly in hybrid rooms but reports with mobile C-arms are few. The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of the Endonaut navigation system on radiation exposure in endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) performed with mobile C-arms.
Methods: All patients undergoing EVAR and/or iliac branched devices implantation between January 2016 and August 2022 were included.

Background And Objective: There is no standardized regimen for follow-up after radical cystectomy (RC) for bladder cancer (BC). To address this gap, we conducted a multicenter study involving urologist members from the European Association of Urology (EAU) bladder cancer guideline panels. Our objective was to identify consistent post-RC follow-up strategies and develop a practice-based framework based on expert opinion.

Introduction: Innate immunity is crucial to reducing parasite burden and contributing to survival in severe malaria. Monocytes are key actors in the innate response and, like macrophages, are plastic cells whose function and phenotype are regulated by the signals from the microenvironment. In the context of cerebral malaria (CM), monocyte response constitutes an important issue to understand.

Objective: To perform a collaborative review of the literature exploring the microsatellite instability/deficient mismatch repair (MSI/dMMR) phenotype in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC).
Method: A collaborative review of the literature available on Medline was conducted by the Cancer Committee of the French Association of Urology to report studies describing the genetic mechanisms, investigation, prevalence and impact of the MSI/dMMR phenotype in UTUC patients.
Results: The predominant genetic mechanism leading to the MSI/dMMR phenotype in UTUC patients is related to the constitutional mutation of one allele of the MMR genes MLH1, MSH2, MSH6 and PMS2 within Lynch syndrome.
