The polarizations of promptly produced χ_{c1} and χ_{c2} mesons are studied using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=8  TeV. The χ_{c} states are reconstructed via their radiative decays χ_{c}→J/ψγ, with the photons being measured through conversions to e^{+}e^{-}, which allows the two states to be well resolved. The polarizations are measured in the helicity frame, through the analysis of the χ_{c2} to χ_{c1} yield ratio as a function of the polar or azimuthal angle of the positive muon emitted in the J/ψ→μ^{+}μ^{-} decay, in three bins of J/ψ transverse momentum.

Binder, as one of the key components, plays a crucial role in improving the capacity and cycling performance of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. In this work, commercially available, low-cost, water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has been systematically investigated as a functional polymer binder for high-sulfur-loading cathodes, with the aim of enhancing sulfur utilization, reducing capacity decay, and extending cycling life of the cathodes. In comparison with polyvinylidene fluoride as a conventional binder, PVA shows a valuable polysulfide entrapping ability and a much stronger binding strength.

In this study, a simple sol-gel method was applied for preparing effectual photocatalyst of S-Bi co-doped F-TiO/SiO (S-Bi-F-TiO/SiO) nanopowder. The first search for supersymmetry in events with an experimental signature of one soft, hadronically decaying τ lepton, one energetic jet from initial-state radiation, and large transverse momentum imbalance is presented. Lead halide perovskites have displayed the highest solar power conversion efficiencies of 23% but the toxicity issues of these materials need to be addressed. Lead-free perovskites have emerged as viable candidates for potential use as light harvesters to ensure clean and green photovoltaic technology.
