Cobalamin is an essential molecule for humans; it is exceptionally important for various body functions, including deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis and cellular energy production. Vegans are more vulnerable to vitamin B12 deficiency than natives with moderate consumption of animal dietary supplements or people with inadequate nutritional patterns. However, the long-term effects of sub-medical deficiency have not been thoroughly studied, but they may have a negative impact on the cardiovascular system, pregnancy outcomes, and vascular, renal, cognitive, bone, and eye health.

Aspergillus strains are known to produce multiple enzymes of industrial importance. To screen Aspergillus isolates and select a strain with the ability to produce multiple enzymes and discriminate it from non-enzymatic strains, a rapid and accurate approach is required. With this background, a DNA fingerprinting-based study was conducted to develop a simple but accurate molecular detection method with the potential to discriminate multienzyme-producing Aspergillus strains from non-enzymatic strains, irrespective of species.

Trends associated with codon usage in molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV) and factors governing the evolution of codon usage have not been investigated so far. In this study, attempts were made to decipher the codon usage trends and discover the major evolutionary forces that influence the patterns of codon usage in MCV with special reference to sub-types 1 and 2, MCV-1 and MCV-2, respectively. Three hypotheses were tested: (1) codon usage patterns of MCV-1 and MCV-2 are identical; (2) SCUB (synonymous codon usage bias) patterns of MCV-1 and MCV-2 slightly deviate from that of human host to avoid affecting the fitness of host; and (3) translational selection predominantly shapes the SCUB of MCV-1 and MCV-2.

Sirtuin-6 (SIRT6), class III family of deacetylase regulates several biological functions, including transcriptional repression, telomere maintenance, and DNA repair. It is unique among sirtuin family members with diverse enzymatic functions: mono-ADP-ribosylase, deacetylase and defatty-acylase. The studies so far implicated SIRT6 role in lifespan extension, tumor suppression, and is considered as an attractive drug target for aging-related disease.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the reliability of fundus stereomicroscopy in postmortem eyes to assign severity of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) using the Minnesota grading and confirmation by histology using Alabama and Sarks grading scales and to assess the incidence of AMD pathology in donor eyes from a South Indian population.
Methods: Eyes (199) from 153 donors (55-95 years) after obtaining fundus images were processed for histology. Fundus images were graded according to the Minnesota grading system based on drusen size, area of depigmentation, and atrophy.

Dissolved organic matter (DOM) especially anthropogenic compounds in sewage systems affects their ultimate fate in the environment which is challenging to ascertain the heterogenic nature of the compound and causes co-occurring effects in most aquatic samples. So, our study have focused on current approaches to the chemical and structural characterization of DOM with the detailed classification of individual compounds such as the molecular levels of volatile organic, inorganic materials, drugs and endocrine disrupting compounds. Analytical techniques for example high performance gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS) with high-resolution liquid chromatography (HR-LCMS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and three-dimensional fluorescence excitation emission matrix (3D-EEM) has resulted in advancing the parametric studies.

On considering the critical issues in attaining stringent water quality standards and not creating any environmental impacts, we focused for the first time the economically feasible, emerging technology known as Self-assembly flocculating (Saf process). In which, the study investigated the applicability of bioflocculant (a biopolymer-self-assembly in nature) act as a surrogates on relying the removal of broad spectrum of substances under optimized conditions (Dosage: 90 mg/L; pH: 7; CaCl). On using different techniques, the results have proved in removing the organic matter such as pharmaceuticals (Gentamycin, Cholecalciferol, Fluvoxamine, 3-OH Desogestrel, and Pheniramine), endocrine disturbing compounds [Phthalic acid, Benzene, 1, 2, 4 -Trimethoxy-5-(1-Propenyl)-, Benzene, 1, 2-Dimethoxy-4-(2-Propenyl)-, 1, 2-Benzenedicarboxylic Acid, 3-Cyclohexen-1-ol], fluorescent components (Polysaccharide like material), and others.

Enterotoxin H is a key molecular target for replication and establishment of Klebsilla pneumonia in the host. Therefore, it is of interest to study the interaction of enterotoxin H with pleurocidin like peptides using molecular modelling (template PDB ID: 1YCE), Lig-Plot (ligand construction) and docking tools for therapeutic consideration. The hydrophobic pocket and the active site residues (Val 13, Met 16, Gly 25, Ala 25, and Ile 28) were identified using Cast P, Molegro and Sitehound tools.

Awareness of breast cancer has been increasing due to early detection, but the advanced disease has limited treatment options. There has been growing evidence on the role of miRNAs involved in regulating the resistance in several cancers. We performed a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis on the role of miRNAs in influencing the chemoresistance and sensitivity of breast cancer.

Developing a novel electrode material with better electrochemical behavior and extended cyclability is a major issue in the field of hybrid capacitors. In this work, we propose a novel strategy for the facile synthesis of nickel-cobalt pyrophosphate nanoparticles anchored on graphitic carbon nitride (NiCoPO/g-CN) via the simple solvothermal method. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy analysis revealed the uniform anchoring of NiCoPO nanocomposite on g-CN nanosheets.

Developing antivirals for influenza A virus (FluA) has become more challenging due to high range of antigenic mutation and increasing numbers of drug-resistant viruses. Finding a selective inhibitor to target highly conserved region of protein-protein interactions interface, thereby increasing its efficiency against drug resistant virus could be highly beneficial. In this study, we used in silico approach to derive FluAPep1 from highly conserved region, PA-PB1 interface and generated 121 FluAPep1 analogues.
