The tropomyosin receptor kinase A (TrkA) family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) emerge as a potential target for glioblastoma (GBM) treatment. Benzenesulfonamide analogs were identified as kinase inhibitors possessing promising anticancer properties. In the present work, four known and two novel benzenesulfonamide derivatives were synthesized, and their inhibitory activities in TrkA overexpressing cells, U87 and MEF cells were investigated.

Neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by the progressive loss of neurons and intricate interactions between different cell types within the affected regions. Reliable biomarkers that can accurately reflect disease activity, diagnose, and monitor the progression of neurodegenerative diseases are crucial for the development of effective therapies. However, identifying suitable biomarkers has been challenging due to the heterogeneous nature of these diseases, affecting specific subsets of neurons in different brain regions.

Introduction: The meniscus plays an important role in maintaining homeostasis to facilitate the normal function of the knee joint. It is one of the most commonly injured areas of the knee joint. Meniscal-related injuries can lead to significantly decreased athletic ability, and their incidence has increased yearly.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) and chronic periodontitis (CP) are common diseases worldwide. Although T2D increases the severity of CP and alveolar bone loss, the mechanism of this is not well understood. We investigated using immunohistochemistry the expression of three osteoclast proteins, TRAF6, cFos and NFATc1, in gingival tissues.

Using natural dyes in dyeing industries becomes an alternative to synthetic dyes, which are known to contain harmful chemicals that can pose risks to the environment and human health. This study involves the extraction of yellow dye from Cassia alata flower petals, optimization of the extraction process using an ultrasonic bath (40 KHz and an input power of 500), ultrasonic probe (390 W, 455 W, 520 W, 585 W, and 650 W), and conventional heating (heating mantle with 30 °C, 40 °C, 50 °C, 60 °C, and 70 °C), characterization of the dye, as well as dyeing (cotton, silk, and leather) without using a mordant. The extracted yellow dye was further evaluated to determine its antibacterial activity against skin bacteria.

Background: Tubulins are highly conserved globular proteins involved in stabilization of cellular cytoskeletal microtubules during cell cycle. Different isoforms of tubulins are differentially expressed in various cell types, and their protein-protein interactions (PPIs) analysis will help in identifying the anti-microtubular drug targets for cancer and neurological disorders. Numerous web-based PPIs analysis methods are recently being used, and in this paper, I used Gene Ontology (GO) tools, e.

From the context of organ donation, COVID-19 vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is important as there is an ethical dilemma in utilizing versus discarding organs from potential donors succumbing to VITT. This consensus statement is an attempt by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) apex technical committees India to formulate the guidelines for deceased organ donation and transplantation in relation to VITT to help in appropriate decision making. VITT is a rare entity, but a meticulous approach should be taken by the Organ Procurement Organization's (OPO) team in screening such cases.

Accidental entry of any foreign body into the paranasal sinus could be due to known causes or unknown causes with the patient being either symptomatic or sometimes asymptomatic. Such asymptomatic conditions make it difficult to detect the foreign body for an indefinite period which on a longer duration may lead to various complications later. Routine radiographic examination during dental checkup reports to serve a good purpose in these kinds of cases by accidental detection of such foreign bodies in the maxillofacial region leading to early diagnosis and timely management.

The core of large-scale drug virtual screening is to select the binders accurately and efficiently with high affinity from large libraries of small molecules in which non-binders are usually dominant. The binding affinity is significantly influenced by the protein pocket, ligand spatial information, and residue types/atom types. Here, we used the pocket residues or ligand atoms as the nodes and constructed edges with the neighboring information to comprehensively represent the protein pocket or ligand information.

While various methods exist for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), green synthesis has emerged as a promising approach due to its affordability, sustainability, and suitability for biomedical purposes. However, green synthesis is time-consuming, necessitating the development of efficient and cost-effective techniques to minimize reaction time. Consequently, researchers have turned their attention to photo-driven processes.

Purpose: To investigate the role of NRF2 signalling in conferring superior prognosis in patients with HPV positive (HPV) head & neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) compared to HPV negative (HPV) HNSCC and develop molecular markers for selection of HPV HNSCC patients for treatment de-escalation trials.
Methods: NRF2 activity (NRF2, KEAP1, and NRF2-transcriptional targets), p16, and p53 levels between HPV HNSCC and HPV HNSCC in prospective and retrospective tumor samples as well as from TCGA database were compared. Cancer cells were transfected with HPV-E6/E7 plasmid to elucidate if HPV infection represses NRF2 activity and sensitizes to chemo-radiotherapy.

Background: The benefits of minimal invasive donor hepatectomy, especially for left lateral sectionectomy (LLS) have been unequivocally demonstrated. Moreover, donors in pediatric liver transplantation (LT) are usually parents who need to recover quickly to take care of the child. There are inherent limitations to conventional laparoscopic surgery including surgeon's experience with advanced laparoscopic surgery and steep learning curve which limits the wide application of minimal invasive donor hepatectomy.

Human monkeypox (HMPX) is a zoonotic disease, literally meaning that it can be passed on from animals (non-primate) to human (primate). All the reported and recorded cases have been traced back either to international travel or import of African animals. In the Unites states, sporadic monkeypox cases have been reported in specific over the past 50 years, starting its first identification in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (D.
