Although gold nanoparticles based photodynamic therapy (PDT) were reported to improve efficacy and specificity, the impact of surface charge in targeting cancer is still a challenge. Herein, we report gold nanotriangles (AuNTs) tuned with anionic and cationic surface charge conjugating triphenylphosphonium (TPP) targeting breast cancer cells with 5-aminoleuvinic acid (5-ALA) based PDT, in vitro. Optimized surface charge of AuNTs with and without TPP kill breast cancer cells.

Cognitive abilities are markers of brain development and psychopathology. Abilities, across executive, and social domains need better characterization over development, including factors that influence developmental change. This study is based on the cVEDA [Consortium on Vulnerability to Externalizing Disorders and Addictions] study, an Indian population based developmental cohort.

Human cells, especially stem cells, need to communicate and interact with extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, which not only serve as structural components but also guide and support cell fate and properties such as cell adhesion, proliferation, survival and differentiation. The binding of the cells with ECM proteins or ECM-derived peptides cell adhesion receptors such as integrins activates several signaling pathways that determine the cell fate, morphological change, proliferation and differentiation. The development of synthetic ECM protein-derived peptides that mimic the biological and biochemical functions of natural ECM proteins will benefit academic and clinical application.

Wound healing is a programmed process of continuous events which is impaired in the case of diabetic patients. This impaired process of healing in diabetics leads to amputation, longer hospitalisation, immobilisation, low self-esteem, and mortality in some patients. This problem has paved the way for several innovative strategies like the use of nanotechnology for the treatment of wounds in diabetic patients.

Pustular psoriasis of pregnancy (PPP) also known as impetigo herpetiformis is a well-described dermatosis of pregnancy characterized by the fatal progression of disease for both the mother and the foetus if left untreated. A 28-year-old G2P1L1 pregnant mother at 28 weeks of gestation, came to outpatient department (OPD) with complaints of scaly skin lesions all over her body along with fever, nausea and generalised weakness. On examination, there were erythematous scaly patches in the trunk, back, hands and legs accompanied by formation of pustules in the periphery of the lesions.

Background: An increasing number of people are turning to herbal medicines in their search for innovative pharmaceuticals since they are effective treatments for a wide variety of conditions and traditional herbs are rich in bioactive chemicals. In this study, we looked at whether or not a petiole extract of Eichhornia crassipes preserved in methanol inhibited the proliferation of prostate cancer (PC3) cell lines.

Clinical treatment of inflamed tooth pulp mostly involves the removal of the entire pulp tissue. Because the vitality of the tooth is important for its ability to function, optimal regenerative biomaterials must be developed to maintain the vitality. Despite vast advances in the field of endodontics, the clinical translation of regenerative endodontic procedures and materials remains challenging.

Most studies reporting prevalence of obesity use actual weight and height measurements. Self-reported weight and height have been used in epidemiological studies as they have been shown to be reliable, convenient, and inexpensive alternatives to actual measurements. However, the accuracy of self-reported weight and height might vary in different regions because of the difference in health awareness and social influences.

The current study was designed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of beta-glucan (BG), which is a key bioactive compound predominantly present in mushrooms and cereals against high-fat-diet (HFD)-induced obesity, and to understand its mechanism of action. Obesity was induced in rats by supplementing the diet with HFD and BG (40 mg/kg body weight) for a period of 6 weeks. At the end of the experimental period, the body weight, as well as hyperglycemic, dyslipidemia, and obesogenic marker expressions, was assessed in the control group and in the experimental obese rats.

Drug induced erythema multiforme (EM) is a rare clinical entity which majorly involves the oral cavity. It commonly occurs due to intake of drugs such as NSAID'S, certain antibiotics, and anticonvulsants. It is characterized by rapidly rupturing vesicles leading to ill-defined erosions in the oral cavity and encrusted lip lesions.

Human mitochondria are the vital cell organelle acting as a storehouse of energy generation and diverse regulatory functions. Mitochondrial DNA comprises 93% coding region and 7% non-coding regions, in which the non-coding region hypothesized as responsible for signaling is our specific interest. Here, we explored the unknown functions of mitochondrial non-coding RNAs by studying their respective signaling pathways.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common heterogeneous conditions of the endocrine reproductive system in women of childbearing age. Hyperandrogenism and oligomenorrhea are the two core characteristics of PCOS, a complicated and multifaceted illness. The condition is also linked to several major side effects, which include type 2 diabetes, early atherosclerosis, infertility, and endometrial cancer.

Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have the ability to differentiate into cells derived from three germ layers and are an attractive cell source for cell therapy in regenerative medicine. However, hPSCs cannot be cultured on conventional tissue culture flasks but can be cultured on biomaterials with specific hPSC integrin interaction sites. We designed hydrogels conjugated with several designed peptides that had laminin-β4 active sites, optimal elasticities and different zeta potentials.

Many countries in the world have recently experienced an outbreak of COVID-19, turned out to be a pandemic which significantly affected the world economy. Among many attempts to treat/control infection or to modulate host immunity, many small molecules including steroids were prescribed based on their use against other viral infection or inflammatory conditions. A recent report established the possibility of usage of a corticosteroid against the virus through inhibiting NSP-15; an mRNA endonuclease of SARS-CoV-2 and thereby viral replication.
