Department of Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Radiology, Bhabha College of Dental Sciences, Bhabha University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Background: According to the World Health Organization, probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit to the host. The use of oral probiotics in children to improve oral health may lead to nonpathogenic bacteria replacing cariogenic bacteria. The Evora Plus oral probiotics tablet is the first such oral probiotics tablet containing a proprietary blend of three select species of naturally occurring oral bacteria, each with a specific function for maintaining a healthy oral environment.

Article Synopsis
  • Patients with nickel allergies often prefer clear aligners over traditional stainless steel brackets and wires for orthodontic treatment.
  • A study compared the effectiveness and discomfort levels of nickel titanium (NiTi) wires vs. clear aligners in managing mandibular incisor crowding among 40 participants divided into two groups.
  • Results indicated that both treatment methods were similarly effective in improving malocclusion, with no significant differences in alignment changes or discomfort over three months.

To assess the overall impact of chlorhexidine, when used as an endodontic irrigant/medicament, on post-obturation pain following endodontic treatment by the application of Bayes methods of meta-analysis. This study aimed to combine recently documented evidence using rigorous and specific search criteria. The available data were analyzed using Bayesian methods, which have the advantage of accounting for uncertainties in estimates.

Herbal remedies have demonstrated remarkable effects as anti-diabetic, anticancer, antimicrobials, immunological modulatory agent in liver problems, respiratory illnesses, and as beauty agents. The need for more affordable, readily accessible, and alternative medicines has led to a rise in the recognition of herbal drugs. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of photosensitized curcumin fibers, Aloevera, Amla Juice and Pancha Tulsi in disinfecting guttapercha (GP) cones.

Pre and post-operative serum levels of titanium cobalt and aluminium after implant placement.

Bioinformation

June 2024

Department of Pedodontics, Karnavati School of Dentistry, Karnavati University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.

The preoperative serum levels and postoperative serum levels of titanium, cobalt and aluminium from dental implants in order to assess the release of these ions and to assess any risk of toxicity from these ions after dental implant placement is of interest to dentists. It was observed that there was very slight increase in serum concentration of titanium, cobalt and aluminium after 12 months of placement of implants as compared to before placement of implants. However the increase was non-significant statistically.

As implant dentistry expands, the number of implants being placed increases, and so does the prevalence of associated complications, resulting in implant failure if not timely attended. The present case report aims to discuss the successful regenerative management of peri-implantitis by both hard and soft tissue augmentation with a five-year follow-up. A 60-year-old male reported a chief complaint of purulent discharge, 7 mm peri-implant probing depth, and radiographic bone loss with no pathologic mobility of the dental implant.

Measurement of mandibular incisive canal diameter using cone beam computed tomography.

Bioinformation

April 2024

Department of Oral medicine and Radiology, Bhabha college of dental sciences, Bhabha University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Cone beam computed tomography was used for measuring the diameter of a Mandibular incisive canal. The dental practice can now visualize small bone structures with low dose and high spatial resolution due to the introduction of CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography). Therefore, it is of interest to measure the diameter of the MIC (Mandibular Incisive Canal) using the CBCT.

Unlabelled: The background of the study highlighted the common occurrence of post-endodontic pain and the need for effective pain management strategies.

Materials And Methods: Fifty patients were randomly assigned to two groups: the cold laser therapy (CLT) group and the traditional methods group (TMG). The CLT group received laser treatment at the affected area immediately following endodontic treatment, whereas the TMG received standard pain management techniques such as analgesics.

A sizable percentage of the population in India still does not have easy access to dental facilities. Therefore, it is of interest to document the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in oral surveillance of underserved communities. Available data shows that AI makes it possible to screen, diagnose, track, prioritize, and monitor dental patients remotely via smart devices.

The effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) digluconate, Betadine (BET), curcumin (CUR) on gingival wound healing is of interest to dental practitioners. Hence, we studied the average fibroblast viability % for each of the concentrations of CUR, BET and CHX over various time durations. It was found that mean percentage of viability of fibroblasts is high in CUR and low in CHX at all time periods while the mean percentage of viability of fibroblasts in BET 1% was greater than CHX but lower than CUR at all time periods.

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College and Hospital, Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar, Gujarat, India.

Introduction: The endodontic preparation depends largely on the file systems that are used in the canal preparations. The amount of the intracanal debris that is extruded from the apex may be influenced by the file systems. Hence, the present study evaluated the amount the debris that is extruded for the two file systems at different working lengths.
