Sural-to-medial femoral cutaneous amplitude ratio in early diagnosis of uremic neuropathy.

Introduction: Medial femoral cutaneous (MFC) sensory nerve action potentials (SNAPs) can be easily recorded using distal stimulation. This study aimed to identify a new parameter using MFC SNAPs for the early electrophysiological diagnosis of length-dependent axonal polyneuropathy (LDAP) associated with uremic neuropathy.

Methods: Patients with chronic renal failure who were referred to the electrodiagnostic laboratory due to symptoms suggesting polyneuropathy were included.

Autophagy, a conserved cellular degradation process, is crucial for various cellular processes such as immune responses, inflammation, metabolic and oxidative stress adaptation, cell proliferation, development, and tissue repair and remodeling. Dysregulation of autophagy is suspected in numerous diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, digestive disorders, metabolic syndromes, and infectious and inflammatory diseases. If autophagy is disrupted, for example, this can have serious consequences and lead to chronic inflammation and tissue damage, as occurs in diseases such as Chron's disease and ulcerative colitis.

A new method of pulse control in cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Continuous femoral pulse check.

Objectives: The reliability of manual pulse checks has been questioned but is still recommended in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines. The aim is to compare the 10-s carotid pulse check (CPC) between heart massage cycles with the continuous femoral pulse check (CoFe PuC) in CPR, and to propose a better location to shorten the interruption times for pulse check.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 117 Non-traumatic CPR patients between January 2020 and January 2022.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the intravenous, oral and local application of tranexamic acid in operation time, intraoperative bleeding, postoperative edema and ecchymosis in rhinoplasty.

Methods: This was a randomized, double-blinded, prospective study. We included 146 patients who underwent rhinoplasty at the Bezmialem Vakif University Medical Faculty Otorhinolaryngology Clinic between April 2021 and April 2022.

Comparative analysis of different loop types for urine culture collection: Implications for quantitative bacterial growth and culture results.

We hypothesized that the loop material and size could affect the results of the culture when compared to the calibrated pipette. A total of 484 urine samples were included in the study, and each sample was plated by using different loop types and the calibrated pipette. The bacterial counts per milliliter were calculated and compared, with a focus on the important cutoff values of 10³ and 10⁴ CFU/ml for further identification.

Propolis Enhances 5-Fluorouracil Mediated Antitumor Efficacy and Reduces Side Effects in Colorectal Cancer: An in Vitro and in Vivo Study.

In this study, we investigated the combined treatment of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and Anatolian propolis extract (PE) on colorectal cancer (CRC)using in vitro and in vivo studies. We exposed luciferase-transfected (Lovo-Luc CRC) cells and healthy colon cells (CCD-18Co) to varying concentrations of 5-FU and PE to assess their genotoxic, apoptotic, and cytotoxic effects, as well as their intracellular reactive oxygen species (iROS) levels. We also developed a xenograft model in nude mice and evaluated the anti-tumor effects of PE and 5-FU using various methods.

Introduction: We aimed to explore how physicians from different specialties approach the management of functional neurological symptom (conversion) and somatic symptom disorders in the emergency department compared with pulmonary embolism and how physicians' professional and personal characteristics influence their diagnostic preferences.

Methods: Using a vignette methodology, and cross-sectional design, three emergency department case vignettes of possible functional neurological symptom, somatic symptom disorder, and pulmonary embolism were presented to physicians from internal medicine, emergency medicine, and psychiatry. A structured survey including questions on diagnosis and management of these cases, and physicians' professional and personal characteristics (childhood trauma, attachment style) was conducted.

Published data on the correlations of bronchoscopy findings with microbiological, radiological, and pulmonary function test results in children with noncystic fibrosis (CF) bronchiectasis (BE) are unavailable. The aims of this study were to evaluate relationships between Bronchoscopic appearance and secretion scoring, microbiological growth, radiological severity level, and pulmonary function tests in patients with non-CF BE. Children with non-CF BE were identified and collected over a 6-year period.

Introduction And Objectives: There are a few reports in the literature about the successful use of sugammadex in the treatment of hypersensitivity reactions caused by rocuronium; however, the pathophysiological mechanism is still unknown. This study aims to investigate the changes caused by rocuronium in the lung and the effect of sugammadex on these changes with biochemical, light microscopic and immunohistochemical parameters on a rat model.

The frequency of bacterial factors causing central nervous system infections has decreased as a result of the development of our national immunization program. In this study, it is aimed to obtain the data of our local surveillance by defining the viral etiology in cases diagnosed with meningoencephalitis for 1 year. Previously healhty 186 children, who applied with findings suggesting viral meningoencephalitis to 8 different tertiary health centers between August 2018 and August 2019, in Istanbul, were included.

A single-item visual analog scale (VAS) for loneliness, UCLA Loneliness Scale-8 (ULS-8), Beck depression inventory (BDI), Beck anxiety inventory (BAI), revised multidimensional scale of perceived social support, Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index (HAQ-DI) were used for the psychometric and functional assessments.

The Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS) is a well-known, norm-referenced scale that evaluates the gross motor development of children from birth to 18 months. The aim of the study was to compare the Canadian norms with the AIMS scores of a Turkish sample of infants, and to investigate whether the current reference values of the AIMS are representative for Turkish full-term infants.
