Diagnostic performance of immediate colposcopy among women with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) other than HPV 16/18 and normal cytology.

Aim: Persistent infection with 1 of 14 high-risk genotypes human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes is the crucial for the development of high-grade cervical cancer precursors. The reassuring management of women with cytology negative, high-risk HPV (HrHPV) positive is important especially after the widespread use of HPV testing either as a cotest. The aim of our study was to compare the colposcopic biopsy results of women with HPV 16/18 with other Hr-HPV genotypes and determine positive predictive values (PPV) for CIN2+ of other HR HPV genotypes.

Short and middle-term outcomes of vaginally assisted laparoscopic sacropolpopexy.

Objective: Vaginally assisted laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (VALS), which is a combined surgical approach where a vaginal hysterectomy is initially performed, followed by transvaginal placement of synthetic mesh and laparoscopic suspension, can be an alternative to overcome the dissection, suturing limitations of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy. The aim of this study was to compare the operative times and middle-term anatomic outcomes of women with uterovaginal prolapse undergoing VALS with those of women undergoing abdominal sacrocolpopexy.

Methods: This is a prospective cohort study that evaluates operation times, anesthesia times, estimated blood loss, middle-term outcomes, perioperative and postoperative complications.

The use of computed tomography as the first imaging modality in patients with renal colic and microscopic haematuria.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the use of computed tomography (CT) as the first imaging modality in patients with renal colic and microscopic haematuria.

Methodology: The patients that presented to the emergency service of six health centers with renal colic between January 2017 and January 2018 and were found to have microscopic hematuria on urinalysis were retrospectively evaluated. Only patients for whom non-contrast CT was used as the first imaging modality were included in the study.

Assessment of Cerebral Vasomotor Reactivity in Patients With Primary Open-angle Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension Using the Breath-Holding Index.

Prcis: Patients with ocular hypertension (OHT) do not show impaired cerebral vasodilation responses to hypercapnia but patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) do. Impaired vasoreactivity in patients with POAG may have neuronal or vascular origins and increase stroke risk.

Purpose: To investigate changes in cerebral blood flow and cerebral vasomotor reactivity using the breath-holding index in patients with POAG and OHT, to examine whether these parameters contribute to the risk of ischemic stroke.

Water-assisted colonoscopy: an international modified Delphi review on definitions and practice recommendations.

Background And Aims: Since 2008, a plethora of research studies has compared the efficacy of water-assisted (aided) colonoscopy (WAC) and underwater resection (UWR) of colorectal lesions with standard colonoscopy. We reviewed and graded the research evidence with potential clinical application. We conducted a modified Delphi consensus among experienced colonoscopists on definitions and practice of water immersion (WI), water exchange (WE), and UWR.

Depression prevalence using the HADS-D compared to SCID major depression classification: An individual participant data meta-analysis.

Objectives: Validated diagnostic interviews are required to classify depression status and estimate prevalence of disorder, but screening tools are often used instead. We used individual participant data meta-analysis to compare prevalence based on standard Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale - depression subscale (HADS-D) cutoffs of ≥8 and ≥11 versus Structured Clinical Interview for DSM (SCID) major depression and determined if an alternative HADS-D cutoff could more accurately estimate prevalence.

Methods: We searched Medline, Medline In-Process & Other Non-Indexed Citations via Ovid, PsycINFO, and Web of Science (inception-July 11, 2016) for studies comparing HADS-D scores to SCID major depression status.

A CASE OF SOTOS SYNDROME CAUSED BY A NOVEL VARIANT IN THE NSD1 GENE: A PROPOSED RATIONALE TO TREAT ACCOMPANYING PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY.

Sotos syndrome is characterized by overgrowth, macrocephaly, distinctive facial features, and learning disabilities and is associated with alterations in the nuclear receptor binding SET domain protein 1 (NSD1) gene. Due to the advanced bone age, the eventual adult height is usually at the upper limit of normal. In this case report, a 6-year and 10-month old boy who presented with Sotos syndrome was described.

Evaluation of Ki67 Index in Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration Samples for the Assessment of Malignancy Risk in Gastric Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors.

Background: The risk of malignancy in resected gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) depends on tumor size, location, and mitotic index. Reportedly, the Ki67 index has a prognostic value in resected GISTs. We aimed to analyze the accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) samples with reference to Ki67 index, using surgical specimens as the gold standard.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Uterine fundal pressure is applied to accelerate birth by increasing the expulsive force of the uterus in the second stage of delivery. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of using uterine fundal pressure during the second stage of delivery on the rate of pelvic floor damage among primiparous women using three-dimensional transperineal ultrasonography.

Methods: The women were divided into two groups: the fundal pressure group included women where the fundal pressure maneuver was applied (n = 39); the control group included women who delivered spontaneously without fundal pressure (n = 47).

While COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our country and most countries in the world, we have to make some changes both in our social life and our approach to healthcare. We have to struggle with the pandemic on one hand and also try to follow up and treat our patients with chronic diseases in the most appropriate way. In this period, one of our group of patients who are challenging us for follow-up and treatment are those who should start or continue to use immunosuppressive therapy.

Objective: Fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) is an important psychological trauma associated with reduction in the quality of life, disruptions in the level of adjustment, emotional distress and anxiety. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the impact of patient-physician relationship on FCR.

Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome is a rare condition characterized by a triad of orofacial edema, facial paralysis, and fissured tongue. Histopathological examination of the disease has demonstrated areas of inflammation involving mast cells. Activated mast cells also play a part in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 infection, as they release cytokines in the lungs.

The effect of gender on disease activity and clinical characteristics in patients with axial psoriatic arthritis.

Probability of Major Depression Classification Based on the SCID, CIDI, and MINI Diagnostic Interviews: A Synthesis of Three Individual Participant Data Meta-Analyses.

Introduction: Three previous individual participant data meta-analyses (IPDMAs) reported that, compared to the Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM (SCID), alternative reference standards, primarily the Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) and the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), tended to misclassify major depression status, when controlling for depression symptom severity. However, there was an important lack of precision in the results.

Is lymph node dissection necessary for staging while undergoing nephrectomy in patients with renal cell carcinoma?

Objective: The essential treatment for patients with renal cell carcinoma is nephrectomy. As no lymph node dissection (LND) could be performed in the majority of these patients, healthy staging could not be carried out. In this study, we investigated the impact of LND during nephrectomy on patient survival.

Brain microstructural changes and cognitive function in non-demented essential tremor patients: a diffusion tensor imaging study.

Background: Essential tremor (ET) is disease with both motor and non-motor features. Notable among the non-motor features is cognitive impairment. While this impairment has been attributed to cortico-thalamo-cerebellar pathway pathology, it is likely that a more complicated involvement of brain structures underlies cognitive function in ET.

Comparison of postoperative quality of life of Limberg flap and Karydakis flap in pilonidal sinus operations.

Objectives: Pilonidal sinus disease (PSD), most commonly seen in young men, is a chronic disease resulting from the pilosebaceous in the sacrococcygeal region. There is still no standardization in surgical treatment. In this study, the effectiveness, follow up outcomes and quality of life level were compared between Karydakis flap (KF) and Limberg flap (LF) operations.

Revisiting the complex architecture of ALS in Turkey: Expanding genotypes, shared phenotypes, molecular networks, and a public variant database.

The last decade has proven that amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is clinically and genetically heterogeneous, and that the genetic component in sporadic cases might be stronger than expected. This study investigates 1,200 patients to revisit ALS in the ethnically heterogeneous yet inbred Turkish population. Familial ALS (fALS) accounts for 20% of our cases.
