Fingolimod is an oral disease-modifying treatment used for the relapsing-remitting forms of multiple sclerosis, which may render patients susceptible to opportunistic infections and lead to an increased risk of skin cancer. We report a 56-year-old woman with multiple sclerosis in remission on fingolimod treatment for five years presenting with the following skin lesions. Our patient presented with a non-healing ulcerated erythematous lesion on the left lower abdomen for six months and a crusted erythematous plaque on the forehead that had not healed for one year.

Introduction: Medial femoral cutaneous (MFC) sensory nerve action potentials (SNAPs) can be easily recorded using distal stimulation. This study aimed to identify a new parameter using MFC SNAPs for the early electrophysiological diagnosis of length-dependent axonal polyneuropathy (LDAP) associated with uremic neuropathy.
Methods: Patients with chronic renal failure who were referred to the electrodiagnostic laboratory due to symptoms suggesting polyneuropathy were included.

Neuropathic pain is associated with diverse etiologies, including sciatica, diabetes, and the use of chemotherapeutic agents. Despite the varied origins, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and inflammatory cytokines are recognized as key contributing factors in both the initiation and maintenance of neuropathic pain. The effects of the mitochondrial-derived peptide humanin on neuropathic pain, however, remain unclear, despite its demonstrated influence on these mechanisms in numerous disease models.

Primary retroperitoneal neoplasms (PRNs) are a complex and diverse group of tumors arising in the retroperitoneal space, excluding those from retroperitoneal organs. These masses present significant diagnostic challenges due to their heterogeneous nature. PRNs primarily include sarcomas, neurogenic tumors, extragonadal germ cell tumors, and lymphomas, with the majority being malignant.

Few multination-based studies have examined the longitudinal association between PA (physical activity) and persistence of supra-threshold depressive symptoms (SDS). This cohort study aimed to assess the influence of PA on persistence of SDS. Data were obtained from the Population Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).

Background: Achalasia is a rare neurodegenerative disease of the esophagus that causes impaired esophageal peristalsis and the inability of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) to relax. This results in symptoms such as dysphagia, regurgitation, chest pain, and weight loss. Among the treatment options, Laparoscopic Heller Myotomy (LHM), Endoscopic Balloon Dilation (EBD), and Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) are commonly used methods.

In the past decade, there have been substantial changes in diagnostic nomenclature. This study investigated sex differences in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptom severity based on Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)-IV, DSM-IV(TR), and DSM-5 criteria, separating rating scale and clinical interview data in children and adults with ADHD. PubMed, PsycINFO, and Scopus were searched for published studies (1996-2021) reporting severity of attention, and hyperactivity/impulsivity in males and females.

Dysphagia is defined as difficulty in swallowing, while presbyphagia is described as a change in swallowing process in healthy older adults, which is a compensable physiological impairment and synonymous with dysphagia. Aging is a well-known risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD), and oropharyngeal dysphagia (OD) is a common condition in AD. Our study aims to compare OD in AD patients and older adults with presbyphagia (OAwP).

Polymeric micelles were prepared for the delivery of donepezil, a leading Alzheimer's disease drug, to enhance its transport across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Poly(ethylene glycol)--poly(-butyl methacrylate) amphiphilic block copolymers were synthesized reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The polymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the correlated risk factors and presence of radiological enthesopathies of the Achilles tendon and plantar fascia in patients with axial spondyloarthropathy (axSpA).
Methods: 242 patients (121 female and 121 male) with axSpA were included in this study. The Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI), the Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score with C-reactive protein (ASDAS-CRP), the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Radiology Index (BASRI), the Maastricht Ankylosing Spondylitis Enthesitis Score (MASES), and CRP were evaluated in all patients.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of four-duct ligation following Botulinum toxin-A injections into the parotid and submandibular glands in pediatric patients with sialorrhea resistant to nonsurgical treatments. Prior research has individually explored either surgical or Botulinum toxin interventions; however, the safety and efficacy of the combined approach to these treatments have yet to be documented.
Methods: Patients were assessed before surgery and 6, 12, and 24 months post-operatively.

Freiberg disease (FD) is a condition characterized by osteochondrosis affecting the metatarsal heads, with the second metatarsal head being the most commonly affected. Dorsiflexion Closing Wedge Osteotomy of the Metatarsal Head (DCWMO) has been conventionally employed, whereas Osteochondral Autologous Transplantation (OAT) represents a more recent technique with restricted comparative research. This study aimed to compare the outcomes of DCWMO and OAT for treating Freiberg disease (FD).

Objectives: To evaluate the anatomical and visual outcomes of the multilayered inverted internal limiting membrane (ML-ILM) flap technique in the treatment of optic disc pit maculopathy (ODPM).
Materials And Methods: In this retrospective interventional case series, medical records and macular spectral-domain optical coherence tomography images of patients who underwent combined pars plana vitrectomy with ML-ILM flap surgery for ODPM were analyzed. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central macular thickness (CMT) at postoperative 6 months were compared with baseline findings.

: The aim of this study was to investigate the circulating levels of asprosin, clusterin, zinc-alpha-2-glycoprotein (ZAG), nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB), and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-γ) in patients with T2DM in relation to microvascular and macrovascular complications. Measuring these biomarkers may provide insight into the pathophysiology of T2DM and indicate novel targets for the therapy of diabetes-related complications. : A total of 260 subjects consisting of four groups: healthy controls (Group-1), T2DM patients without complications (Group-2), T2DM patients with microvascular complications (Group-3), and T2DM patients with macrovascular complications (Group-4).

Glioblastoma is the most aggressive and fatal brain cancer, characterized by a high growth rate, invasiveness, and treatment resistance. The presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and blood-brain tumor barrier (BBTB) poses a challenging task for chemotherapeutics, resulting in low efficacy, bioavailability, and increased dose-associated side effects. Despite the rigorous treatment strategies, including surgical resection, radiotherapy, and adjuvant chemotherapy with temozolomide, overall survival remains poor.
