Aortic valve sclerosis (AVS) is closely related to endothelial dysfunction. The association of AVS with contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is unknown. We planned to investigate the relationship of AVS besides known parameters with CIN.

Testis spectroscopy may predict sperm retrieval rate in men with non-obstructive azoospermia undergoing micro-TESE: A pilot study.

Objective: To investigate whether prior testis magnetic resonance spectroscopy predicts the success or failure of micro-dissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) in patients with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA).

Material And Methods: Nine men with NOA who were scheduled for micro-TESE for the first time, 9 NOA men with a history of previous micro-TESE and 5 fertile men were enrolled. All NOA patients and fertile controls underwent testis spectroscopy.

Comparison of 3 Different Enucleation Techniques of Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate (HoLEP).

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of different enucleation techniques on operation time, enucleation efficacy and postoperative results.

Materials And Methods: 178 HoLEP cases performed by two senior surgeons were evaluated retrospectively. All patients were evaluated for age, IPSS, preoperative PSA, prostate size, maximum flow rate (Qmax) postvoid residual volume (PVR), enucleation time, morcellation time, enucleated tissue weight, enucleation ratio (enucleated tissue weight/prostate volume) and enucleation time efficacy (enucleated weight/enucleation time).

Bladder filling before accreta surgery is a very effective method for preventing bladder injury: a retrospective cohort study.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to show whether bladder filling with saline before percreta surgery diminish the rate of bladder injuries or not. A secondary aim was to check the operative and postoperative outcomes between the cases of filled and unfilled bladder in placenta accreta surgery.

Methods: This retrospective multicentric cohort study involved 88 patients who were diagnosed with placenta accreta and underwent cesarean hysterectomy between 1 January 2009 and 1 January 2019.

The Comparison of Traditional Radial Access and Novel Distal Radial Access for Cardiac Catheterization.

Objectives: The traditional radial access (TRA) has been used almost routinely in coronary interventions in our clinic. Recently, we have started to use distal radial artery point as distal radial access (DRA) more frequently. The aim of this study is to compare these techniques (DRA and TRA) in terms of their safety, feasibility, and effectiveness.

Pretreatment SUV value to predict outcome in patients with stage III NSCLC receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy.

Objective: Stage III disease accounts for approximately one-fourth of all non-metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The patients who are not candidates for curative resection are offered concomitant chemoradiotherapy. In this subgroup, which is difficult to manage, studies that address the role of PET-CT to predict outcome measures specifically for stage III NSCLC receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy may help better risk stratification.

Purpose: Upper airway foreign body is one of the most encountered clinical situations in otolaryngology practice. In rare conditions, a living organism may be a foreign body in the upper airway. In this study, we demonstrate 19 patients with leech infestations in nose, nasopharynx, and larynx.

Effect of perinatal biotin deficiency on auditory pathway of the Wistar-Albino rats.

Severe biotin deficiency associated with biotinidase enzyme deficiency in newborns is seen as severe neurological problems and hearing loss. However, the effect on the infant of deficiencies in the maternal diet during pregnancy are not clear. The study included 16 female Wistar albino rats and 4 male Wistar albino rats, that were mated and then the females were separated into 4 groups.

Olfactory dysfunction in spondyloarthritis.

Objective: Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a group of disorders characterized by inflammatory arthritis including ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis and arthritis-related inflammatory bowel diseases. Recently it has been shown that arthritic disorders are accompanied by olfactory dysfunction. We aimed to specifically investigate the association between spondyloarthritis and olfactory impairment.

Objective: Spontaneous ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (SOHSS) is an extremely rare complication that deserves a multidisciplinary approach together with a thorough investigation for the correct diagnosis of the underlying pathology. The aim of this study was to present a case of severe SOHSS resistant to all interventions and to discuss the available interventions to overcome such a rare and serious clinical situation.

Case Report: We report a case of severe, life-threatening spontaneous OHSS with a normal nine weeks singleton pregnancy in a 25-year-old nulliparous woman, which resulted with pregnancy termination and continuation of disease progression until the dose of cabergoline was increased to 1.

A Novel Marker of Inflammation: Azurocidin in Patients with ST Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction.

Background: Volumetric shrinkage of normal tissues such as salivary glands, kidneys, hippocampus are observed after radiotherapy. We aimed to assess the alterations in pancreatic volume of patients who received abdominal radiotherapy and define pancreas as an organ at risk for radiation treatment planning.

Material-methods: Forty-nine patients operated for gastric adenocarcinoma who received adjuvant abdominal radiotherapy were in the study group, 27 patients with early stage disease who did not need adjuvant treatment after surgery comprised the control group.

Effect of statins on hearing function and subjective tinnitus in hyperlipidemic patients.

Introduction: It is known that hyperlipidemia reduces hearing functions. In this study, we aimed to study the effect of antihyperlipidemic drugs on hearing functions and tinnitus.

Methods: Eighty-four patients aged 18 to 84, who were diagnosed with hyperlipidemia and started treatment with the statin group (atorvastatin 20 mg and 40 mg, rosuvastatin 10 mg and 20 mg, and simvastatin 20 mg) of antihyperlipidemic drugs, were included in this study.

Osteoporosis development and vertebral fractures after abdominal irradiation in patients with gastric cancer.

Background: Decrease in bone mineral density, osteoporosis development, bone toxicity and resulting insufficiency fractures as late effect of radiotherapy are not well known. Osteoporosis development related to radiotherapy has not been investigated properly and insufficiency fractures are rarely reported for vertebral bones.
