Background: The prevalence and risk factors of posttraumatic stress disorder after cesarean delivery, outside high-risk contexts, remain unclear.

Objective: This study aimed to assess posttraumatic stress disorder prevalence and risk factors at 2 months postpartum among a general population of women with cesarean delivery.

Study Design: This was a prospective ancillary cohort study of the Tranexamic Acid for Preventing Postpartum Hemorrhage after Cesarean Delivery (TRAAP2) trial, conducted in 27 French hospitals from 2018 to 2020, enrolling women expected to undergo cesarean delivery before or during labor at ≥34 weeks of gestation.

Fluorescence pH sensing has proven to be efficient but with the drawback that molecules photobleach, requiring frequent calibrations. Double-emission peak molecules allow ratiometric measurements and theoretically avoid calibration. However, they are often expensive and fragile and usually have very low quantum yields.

Objective: In France, kidney transplantations (KT) are mainly performed by urologist. Young urologists and residents are involved in this activity mostly performed in emergency. How do they feel about KT training? Is KT an attractive part of the urologist activity?

Methods: This survey has been designed in the form of a questionnaire by the French Committee of Kidney Transplantation (CTAFU) and the French Association of Urologists in training (AFUF).

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare two different cancellation policies for COS-IUI cycles to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies (MP).
  • Conducted at two medical centers, it analyzed data from 7056 COS-IUI cycles from 2011 to 2019, using an algorithm in one group and a physician-dependent strategy in the other.
  • Results showed that the algorithm-based strategy significantly lowered the MP rate (8.1% vs 13.3%) without affecting the live-birth rate, indicating its effectiveness in improving outcomes.

Background: Suspected upper gastrointestinal bleeding (SUGIB) is a common issue during ICU stay. In the absence of specific guidelines on the indication and timing of esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), there is substantial variability in EGD indication depending on accessibility and clinical presentation. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with the need for per-EGD hemostatic therapy and to create a score predicting therapeutic benefit of emergency bedside EGD in ICU patients with SUGIB.

Autoimmune cytopenia (AIC) in children may be associated with positive antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and may progress to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We evaluated the risk of progression to SLE of childhood-onset ANA-associated AIC. In the French national prospective OBS'CEREVANCE cohort, the long-term outcome of children with ANA-associated AIC (ANA titer ≥1/160) and a subgroup of children who developed SLE were described.

Perspectives on Remote Robotic-Assisted Stroke Treatment: A Commentary Paper.

Division of Neurosurgery (A.C., N.M.C., G.C., J.S., T.R.M., V.M.P.), Department of Surgery, RADIS Lab, Li Ka-shing Knowledge Institute, St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The proved feasibility of robotic-assisted endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms has stimulated the idea of a potential application of remote robotics for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. The possibility of developing a more advanced remote-controlled robotic system capable of performing a complete mechanical thrombectomy procedure would help bridge the health care gap of lack of technical expertise in isolated areas. This possibility could allow a more equitable access to mechanical thrombectomy to a larger number of patients and be a breakthrough for acute ischemic stroke care worldwide.

Contour (Stryker, Kalamazoo, MI) is a relatively new endosaccular device for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.1 2 Its unique cup-like shape permits treatment of most lesions, including wide-necked, irregular, and shallowed-shaped aneurysms. The sizing of the device only requires two parameters: neck size and equatorial plane (width).

Background: Reinstating inflammation resolution represents an innovative concept to regain inflammation control in diseases marked by chronic inflammation. While most therapeutics target inflammatory molecules and inflammatory effector cells and mediators, targeting macrophages to initiate inflammation resolution to control neuroinflammation has not yet been attempted. Resolution-phase macrophages are critical in the resolution process to regain tissue homeostasis, and are programmed through the presence and elimination of apoptotic leukocytes.

Background: The impact of adapted physical activity (APA) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (aPDAC) is unknown. This study evaluated whether APA in addition to standard care improved HRQoL in patients who have aPDAC who are receiving first-line chemotherapy.

Patients And Methods: Patients with locally advanced/metastatic PDAC and an ECOG performance status of 0 to 2 were randomized (1:1) to receive standard care (standard arm) or standard care plus a home-based 16-week APA program (APA arm).

Univ. Franche-Comté, INSERM, Etablissement Français du Sang Bourgogne Franche-Comté, UMR1098, RIGHT Interactions Hôte-Greffon-Tumeur/Ingénierie Cellulaire et Génique, Besançon, France.

Introduction: Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) have an increased risk of cardiovascular (CV) events (CVEs) compared with the general population. The impact of insulin resistance on CV risk after transplantation is not well defined.

Methods: We tested whether triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a surrogate marker of insulin resistance, may predict posttransplant CVEs in a cohort of 715 consecutive KTRs all included 1 year after transplant.

Article Synopsis
  • Angioedema due to acquired C1-inhibitor deficiency (AAE-C1-INH) can result from excess consumption of C1-INH or the presence of anti-C1-INH antibodies, commonly linked to lymphoid cancers or monoclonal gammopathies.
  • A study in France assessed the effectiveness of rituximab for treating 55 patients with AAE-C1-INH, revealing that 34 patients achieved remission after an average of nearly 4 years of follow-up.
  • The results indicated that patients without anti-C1-INH antibodies had a better chance of remission; those with lymphoma and those treated with rituximab and chemotherapy experienced lower rates of relapse, suggesting that rituximab

Histiocytoses encompass a wide spectrum of diseases, all characterized by tissue infiltration by CD68+ histiocytes. Most adult histiocytoses are considered clonal diseases because they highlight recurrent somatic mutations in the MAP-kinase pathway gene, primarily . The presence of mutation is associated with widespread disease in children with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) or cardiovascular/neurological involvement in Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD).
