[The prognostic value of pre- and postoperative adhesion score and chromopertubation score in sterility operations on the fallopian tubes. 1. Comparison of pre- and postoperative laparoscopic findings].

With 97 female patients who underwent a microsurgical operation of sterility the respectively less damaged tube has been assessed during the diagnostic laparoscopy and during the second-look-laparoscopy with the help of an adhesions-score and a chromopertubation-score. On 92 tubes only one operation was carried out, whereas on five tubes the proximate operation was combined with a distal one. After all methods of operations markedly better adhesions-scores and chromopertubations-scores were achieved.

[Investigations of volume and electrolyte concentrations in saliva of asthma- and epilepsy-diseased children under therapy].

To investigate if in children suffering from asthma bronchiale or cerebral attacks and being under special long-term therapy changes in quantity and quality of saliva occure, both groups of probands were examined in comparision to corresponding controls. In both cases pharmaca were given which may influence the functions of vegetative neuralsystem. It was proved that children with asthma had a lower and those with attacks a higher volume of secretion in comparison with the controls.

[Medical-psychological problems in dental practice].

Medical-psychological problems are of great importance in dental practice. The paper presents an overview on the ways of establishing the dentist-patient-relationship, on the perception of pain and anxiety, the influence of the dentist in this respect, the information process and psychological preparation for surgery. A thorough intervention-oriented consideration of the psychological factors involved will lead to a further improvement of quality and effectiveness in dentistry.

[Quantitative immunohistochemical studies of insulin and glucagon cells of the fetal rat pancreas before and after cryopreservation].

Fetal pancreas obtained at a gestational age of 19.5 days were morphologically investigated before and after cryopreservation. The relative B-cell and A-cell volume density was determined on immunohistochemically stained section by point sampling.

[The effect of dimethoate and vibrations on the fetal development of the rat].

The influence of vibration and organophosphate insecticide dimethoate of rats (Rattus norvegicus Berkenhout) was examined by exposing pregnant dams to these influences on 12 d p.c. After exposures to vibrations for 12 h an increase of the rate of absorption could be ascertained.

[Age and sex dependence of phospholipid concentrations in human erythrocytes].

Phospholipid concentrations and composition of erythrocyte membrane were examined in 55 healthy volunteers (age: 20-62 years). All measured parameters were independent of age and sex of the individuals studied. Their reliability to be used as reference for further studies in patients was proved.

[Phospholipid concentrations and localization of selected phospholipids in erythrocyte membranes of breast tumor patients].

The phospholipid content within the erythrocyte membrane, its composition and topological distribution was determined in 17 untreated patients with histologically verified breast cancer. The qualitative analysis of phospholipids was performed by one- and two-dimensional TLC. Topological changes of the aminophospholipid asymmetry were examined by TNBS-labelling.

[Computer-assisted analysis of the tocogram. Initial experience using a new evaluation procedure].

This paper describes first observations with a new computer aided analysis of tocogram. It seems that length of uterine contraction is an important parameter for quality of labour. In 9 from 12 cases promotion to constant length of labour with relatively low absolute duration of contractions was connected with a distinct increase of the velocity of cervical dilatation.

[Menstrual cycle, opioids and hypothalamic amenorrhea: from physiology to pathology].

The central part of menstrual cyclicity is the arcuate nucleus within the mediobasal hypothalamus, which is shown to be the origin of GnRH. This neuronal oscillator is influenced by many endogenous substances and its periodically activity is modulated by them. The endogenous opioids are such substances.

[Postnatal development of the masticatory muscles of the Wistar rat (Rattus norvegicus Berkenhout). A histochemical study].

Muscle biopsies of the mandible adductors of the Wistar rat (Rattus norvegicus Berkenhout) have been analyzed enzyme-histochemically for the investigation of the postnatal development (42.-126. d post partum) of their muscle fibers with special regards to the fiber types.

[What is the fructosamine test and what is its clinical significance?].

The clinical usefulness of the fructosamine assay is reviewed. Problems of external standardization are discussed and possibilities to circumvent these problems are considered.

[Manifestation of sarcoidosis of the optic nerve].

Under the suspicion of an optic nerve glioma a resection of the optic nerve tumour was carried out in a 58-year-old female patient with an amaurosis on the right side. The diagnosis of the sarcoidosis of the Nervus opticus was only established on the basis of the histological findings obtained in the resected optic nerve. Even after a period of observation of five years no further general pathologic signs of the sarcoidosis appeared, so that it could be assumed that this was the case of an isolated sarcoid affection of the optic nerve.

[Cerebral artery aneurysm of the para-ophthalmic artery segment of the internal carotid artery (C4 section)].

The number of surgically treated patients with aneurysms included 14 aneurysms located in the Paraophthalmica segment of the A. carotis interna. In six patients only indirect methods (wrapping, establishment of an extra-cranial-intracranial microanastomosis) were used.

[Behavior of parameters of liver metabolism in intermediate-term use of the gestagen dienogest in the treatment of endometriosis].

The effects of the progestational compound dienogest (17 alpha-cyanomethyl-17 beta-hydroxy-estra-4,9-dien-3-one) on liver metabolism have been studied in 101 otherwise healthy women with endoscopically proven endometriosis. The women aged 17 to 45 years were treated with 2 mg dienogest in tablet form daily for 24 weeks. Aspartate amino transferase (ASAT), alanine amino transferase (ALAT), gamma glutamate transferase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (AP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and total bilirubin (BILI) were determined in serum before and after 1, 3 and 6 months use of the progestin.

[Pregnancy and labor in adolescent patients].

During the investigation period from 1978 to 1986 the adolescents had been compared with two control groups. When comparing obstetrical parameters such as pre-eclampsia, prematurity, operative delivery, Apgar under 4, acidosis with a pH-value of blood under 7.10, malformation and perinatal death significant differences could not been proved.

[Pregnancy-associated alpha2-glycoprotein (alpha2-PAG)--past, present and future].

The pregnancy-associated alpha 2-glycoprotein (alpha 2-PAG), first described 30 years ago, is a high-molecular neuramino-glycoprotein. Its serum concentration is normally low, but substantially increases during pregnancy and in some malignant tumour diseases. A review is given of occurrence and quantification of alpha 2-PAG under physiological and pathophysiological conditions, site of synthesis and localization, purification and physico-chemical properties, biological role and possible clinical use.

[Endometriosis and laparoscopy].

Endometriosis in an important disease especially for girls and young women. It often causes chronic complaints and infertility, requiring an early endoscopic diagnosis for their prophylaxis and therapy. The characteristics of endometriosis, the indications for laparoscopy, its technique, and the endoscopic picture are described in detail.

[Early embryonal signals].

As early pregnancy signals are known up to now: early pregnancy factor (EPF), early pregnancy associated protein (EPAP), early pregnancy associated thrombocytopenia (EPAT), platelet activating factor (PAF) and the so-called amplified pregnancy signals. Clinical relevance in the near future may obtain EPF estimations for diagnosis of early pregnancy after sterility therapy and for monitoring of the first trimester of pregnancy.

[Surgical therapy of anorectal abscesses and fistulas].

Retrospective analyses were made of 171 of 200 patients on whom operations had been performed for anorectal abscesses and fistulas, between 1981 and 1985. For abscess exposure and deroofing, we tried to perform simultaneous fistulotomy, with no recurrence being recorded from 37 patients treated that way. The major courses of anorectal fistulas proved to be predictible in most cases.

[The influence of endogenous opioids in hypothalamic amenorrhea. Diagnostic and therapeutic aspects].

We investigated the possibility of induction of ovulation by means of chronic opioid receptor blockade with naloxone. Daily 4 mg were given as an intravenous bolus injection in 4 women suffering from hypothalamic amenorrhea till the 30th day of therapy. A possible maturation of ovarian follicles and a subsequent ovulation should be proved by means of daily determination of LH, FSH, estradiol and progesterone as well as of a sonographic folliculometry.
