: Mirtazapine (MRZ) is a psychotropic drug prescribed to manage serious sorts of depression. By virtue of its extensive initial-pass metabolic process with poor water solubility, the ultimate bioavailability when taken orally is a mere 50%, necessitating repeated administration. The current inquiry intended to fabricate nose-to-brain chitosan-grafted cationic leciplexes of MRZ (CS-MRZ-LPX) to improve its pharmacokinetic weaknesses and boost the pharmacodynamics aspects.

Background/objectives: Basal cell skin cancer (BCSC) develops when skin cells proliferate uncontrollably. Sonidegib (SDB) is a therapeutic option for the treatment of BCSC by inhibiting hedgehog signaling. The problems with SDB's low solubility, poor bioavailability, resistance, poor targeting, and first-pass action make it less effective when taken orally.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) is a critical pathogen, and its antibiotic resistance is largely driven by the quorum-sensing regulator LasR. Herein, we report the design, synthesis, and characterization of Aqs1C, a mutated peptide derivative of Aqs1, optimized to inhibit LasR and its quorum-sensing pathway. By introducing a targeted mutation, Aqs1C exhibited enhanced stability and binding affinity for LasR protein compared to its predecessor, Aqs1B.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that can affect the many tissues of the joint. There are no officially recognized disease-modifying therapies for clinical use at this time probably due to a lack of complete comprehension of the pathogenesis of the disease. In recent years, emerging regenerative therapy and treatments with stem cells both undifferentiated and differentiated cells have gained much attention as they can efficiently promote tissue repair and regeneration.

Background: Varicocele (Vx) which is the most treatable cause of male infertility, is also associated with low sperm count, decreased sperm motility and increased sperm abnormal morphology. We aimed in the current study to evaluate the correlation between seminal α-Glycerylphosphorylcholine (αGPC) and semen parameters in infertile patients pre- and post- sub-inguinal micro-varicocelectomy.
Methods: The current comparative prospective study was carried out on 20 male patients who presented to Kasr Al-Ainy Hospitals from March 2022 to March 2023 as well as 20 healthy controls.

We report the fabrication and characterization of a Bi(III) oxide/polypyrrole (BiO/Ppy) nanocomposite thin film optoelectronic photodetector synthesized by a simple one-pot method. The nanocomposite consists of spherical BiO nanoparticles embedded in a Ppy matrix, forming a porous structure with a high surface area. The XRD analysis reveals that the BiO nanoparticles have a poly-crystalline nature with a crystal size of 40 nm and an optical bandgap of 2.

This study presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) models for predicting Wind Turbine (WT) power output based on environmental variables such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. Along with Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), the following ML models were looked at: Linear Regression (LR), Support Vector Regressor (SVR), Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees (ET), Adaptive Boosting (AdaBoost), Categorical Boosting (CatBoost), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM). Using a dataset of 40,000 observations, the models were assessed based on R-squared, Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE).

Biofilms formed by several bacterial strains still pose a significant challenge to healthcare due to their resistance to conventional treatment approaches, including antibiotics. This study explores the potential of loading natural extracts with antimicrobial activities into β-cyclodextrin (βCD) nanoparticles, which are FDA-approved and have superior biocompatibility owing to their cyclic sugar structures, for biofilm eradication. An inclusion complex of βCD carrying essential oils (BOS) was prepared and characterized with regard to its physicochemical properties, antimicrobial efficacy, and antibiofilm activities.

The Weibull distribution is an important continuous distribution that is cardinal in reliability analysis and lifetime modeling. On the other hand, it has several limitations for practical applications, such as modeling lifetime scenarios with non-monotonic failure rates. However, accurate modeling of non-monotonic failure rates is essential for achieving more accurate predictions, better risk management, and informed decision-making in various domains where reliability and longevity are critical factors.

The functions of the heart and brain are closely linked and essential to support human life by the heart-brain axis, which is a complex interconnection between the heart and brain. Also, cardiac function and cerebral blood flow regulate the brain's metabolism and function. Therefore, deterioration of cardiac function may affect cognitive function and may increase the risk of dementia.
