The main difficulties facing the operation of parallel converters in DC microgrids (DCMGs) are load sharing, circulation current, and bus voltage regulation. A droop controller is commonly used to control current sharing among parallel DC-DC converters due to its simplicity. However, the values of droop parameters impact both bus voltage regulation and the error in current sharing among converters.

Human trichinosis is a serious foodborne parasitic zoonosis. Diagnosing human trichinosis is usually difficult due to the nonspecific clinical picture and the limited effectiveness of serological tests in acute infections. While ELISA can detect circulating Trichinella antigens, aiding in early diagnosis, its sensitivity may be low.

A pilot study of novel multi-filter CNN layer.

Network

November 2024

Computer Science Department, Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Beni-Suef University, Beni Suef, Egypt.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have reached their peak of complex structures, but until now, few researchers have addressed the problem of relying on one filter size. Mainly a 3 × 3 filter is the most common one used in any structure. Only at the first layers of the CNN model, filters bigger than 3 × 3 could be partially used.

The objective of this study was to assess the use of pMDI alone and pMDI with different spacers in asthmatic patients and to identify any associations between errors in handling the device for the first time and the sessions needed to reach the correct handling method, considering patient demographics and clinical characteristics. A total of 150 Asthmatic patients were crossed over to handle pMDI alone and with add-on inhalable devices (Aerochamber plus, Tips Haler, Able, Dispozable and Aer-8) randomly, without receiving verbal or demonstrative instruction (baseline assessment). The assessment of the inhaler technique was performed using checklists that had been set beforehand.

Within the European Union, the use of lidocaine in food-producing animals is restricted due to concerns over human safety. This study compared the clinical effectiveness of procaine, with and without epinephrine, against lidocaine in pain alleviation during thermocautery disbudding in xylazine-sedated calves. The efficacy of local blocks was assessed through needle pricks, and the behavioral reactions to disbudding were scored.

The lack of local availability for drugs in the colon can be addressed by preparing a self-microemulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS) of curcumin (Cur) which is ultimately used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). From preformulation studies, Lauroglycol FCC (oil), Tween 80 (surfactant), Transcutol HP (co-surfactant), and Avicel (solid carrier) were selected for the preparation of blank liquid and solid Cur-loaded SMEDDSs (S-Cur-SMEDDSs). Z-average size (12.

Background/objectives: Raloxifene (RLF) is a therapeutic option for invasive breast cancer because it blocks estrogen receptors selectively. Low solubility, limited targeting, first-pass action, and poor absorption are some of the challenges that make RLF in oral form less effective. This study aimed to create an intra-tumoral in situ pH-responsive formulation of RLF-invasome (IPHRLI) for breast cancer treatment, with the goals of sustaining RLF release, minimizing adverse effects, and enhancing solubility, bioavailability, targeting, and effectiveness.

Pharmaceuticals (Basel)

October 2024

Biological Science Department, College of Science, King Faisal University, P.O. Box 400, Al-Ahsa 31982, Saudi Arabia.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explored how () and Hasawi rice protein lysate (HPL) can help reduce colitis, an inflammatory condition of the colon, induced in mice by DSS.
  • Researchers evaluated various factors such as disease activity index (DAI), gut permeability, and antioxidant enzyme activity to determine the effectiveness of the treatments.
  • Results showed that the combination of both treatments significantly improved symptoms, reduced oxidative stress, and lower pro-inflammatory markers, indicating that () with HPL could be a promising approach for managing colitis.
