The Mediating Effect of Symptom Burden in the Depression and Quality of Life in Patients with Maintenance Hemodialysis.

Objective: To investigate current status of quality of life and the association between depression and symptom burden in a sample of Chinese maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients.

Methods: A self-designed patient general information questionnaire, disease-related information questionnaire, dialysis patient symptom burden scale, depression scale, and quality of survival scale were used to investigate 380 maintenance haemodialysis patients in haemodialysis centres. A regression model of the factors affecting the quality of survival was established using structural equation modelling.

Clinical effects of cocktail injection on the thoracolumbar fascia injury during percutaneous vertebroplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures: a single-center, retrospective case-control study.

Background: Nowadays, there is a lack of effective intraoperative treatment for thoracolumbar fascia injury (TFI) of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs), which may lead to postoperative residual pain. We aimed to evaluate the clinical effects of cocktail injection on the TFI during percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) for OVCFs.

Methods: A retrospective study of OVCFs with TFI underwent PVP with cocktail injection (Cocktail group, 58 cases) or PVP (Routine group, 64 cases) was conducted.

Comparison of clinical effects of percutaneous vertebroplasty with two different puncture approaches on the treatment of thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with narrow pedicles: a retrospective controlled study.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) with conventional transpedicle approach (CTA) or basal transverse process-pedicle approach (BTPA) on the treatment of thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (TL-OVCFs) with narrow pedicles.

Methods: A retrospective study of TL-OVCFs with narrow pedicles was performed, including 78 cases of CTA and 84 cases of BTPA. The surgical outcomes, radiographic parameters [the width and height of the pedicle (PW, PH), the inclination angle of puncture (PIA)] and clinical indicators [visual analog scale (VAS) score, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI)] of two groups were compared.

Comparison of Wiltse Approach of Pedicle Screw Fixation With or Without Vertebroplasty in the Treatment of Genant III Degree Osteoporotic Thoracolumbar Fractures: Analysis of Clinical Findings, Radiographic Parameters, and Follow-Up Complications.

Study Design: A retrospective case-control study.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the effects of the Wiltse approach of pedicle screw fixation (PSF) either in combination with or without vertebroplasty (VP) in the treatment of Genant III degree osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures (Genant III-OTLFs).

Methods: A retrospective study of Genant III-OTLFs was performed from January 2018 to December 2019, including 54 cases of PSF + VP and 56 cases of PSF.

Clinical efficacy of bevacizumab combined with cisplatin in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion and ascites caused by lung cancer: a randomized trial.

Background: To analyze the clinical effect of bevacizumab combined with cisplatin in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion and ascites.

Methods: A total of 86 patients with malignant pleural effusion and ascites admitted from June 2018 to September 2020 were selected as the research participants and randomly divided into a control group and observation group, with 43 cases in each group. The control group was given cisplatin intracavitary perfusion scheme, and the observation group was given bevacizumab combined with cisplatin intracavitary perfusion scheme.

[Ectopic seminal tract opening in enlarged prostatic utricle: A report of 22 cases].

Objective: To explore the diagnosis, classification and treatment of ectopic seminal tract opening in enlarged prostatic utricle (EPU).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data on 22 cases of ectopic seminal tract opening in EPU confirmed by spermography, EPU open cannula angiography or intraoperative puncture of the vas deferens and treated by transurethral incision of EPU, cold-knife incision or electric incision of EPU, full drainage of the anteriorwal, and open or laparoscopic surgery from October 1985 to October 2017.

Results: Five of the patients were diagnosed with ectopic opening of the vas deferens and the other 17 with ectopic opening of the ejaculatory duct in EPU.

A 30-year retrospective study of rare ectopic seminal tract opening cases.

Ectopic seminal tract opening is a rare congenital malformation. Until recently, there has been a lack of comprehensive reporting on the condition. The purpose of this retrospective study is to summarize the experience of diagnosis and treatment of this condition based on 28 clinical practice cases throughout the past 30 years.

Mitochondrial division inhibitor 1 protects cortical neurons from excitotoxicity: a mechanistic pathway.

Mitochondrial division inhibitor 1 (Mdivi-1) is a selective cell-permeable inhibitor of dynamin-related protein-1 (Drp1) and mitochondrial division. To investigate the effect of Mdivi-1 on cells treated with glutamate, cerebral cortex neurons isolated from neonatal rats were treated with 10 mM glutamate for 24 hours. Normal cultured cells and dimethyl sulfoxide-cultured cells were considered as controls.

Efficacy of Aidi Injection () on overexpression of P-glycoprotein induced by vinorelbine and cisplatin regimen in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Aidi Injection () on overexpression of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) induced by vinorelbine and cisplatin (NP) regimen in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and study the difference between intravenous administration and targeting intratumor administration of Aidi Injection with thoracoscope.

Methods: Totally 150 patients with NSCLC were randomly assigned to the control group, the intravenous group and the intratumor group by the random envelope method, 50 cases in each group. The patients were treated with NP regimen (2 cycles), NP regimen (2 cycles) plus Aidi intravenous injection, or NP regimen (2 cycles) plus Aidi intratumor injection with thoracoscope, respectively for 6 weeks.

Ejaculatory duct obstruction (EDO) is an important cause of male infertility. Etiologically it can be either congenital or acquired. The diagnosis of EDO mainly depends on history, physical examination, semen analysis, and transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS).
