Photo-induced Chlorophyll (Chl) triplet states in the isolated Photosystem I (PSI) of Acaryochloris marina, that harbours Chl d as its main pigment, were investigated by Optically Detected Magnetic Resonance (ODMR) and Time-Resolved Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (TR-EPR), and as a function of pre-illumination of the sample under reducing redox poising. Fluorescence Detected Magnetic Resonance (FDMR) allowed resolving four Chl d triplet (Chl d) populations (T-T) both in untreated and illuminated samples in the presence of ascorbate and N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine (TMPD). The FDMR signals increased following the pre-illumination treatment, particularly for the T and T populations, which are therefore sensitive to the redox state of PSI cofactors.

The application of nanoparticles is promising for the purposes of nuclear medicine due to the possibilities of using them as vectors and transporters of radionuclides. In this study, we have successfully synthesised conjugates of CeO nanoparticles and azacrown ligands. Then, the radiolabelling conditions with radionuclides Zn, Sc and Bi were selected and the kinetic stability of the complexes in biologically significant media was evaluated.

Movement proteins (MPs) encoded by plant viruses are essential for cell-to-cell transport of viral genomes through plasmodesmata. The genome of hibiscus green spot virus contains a module of two MP genes termed 'binary movement block' (BMB), encoding the proteins BMB1 and BMB2. The enzymatic dissociation of human solid tissues is a critical process for disaggregating extracellular matrix and the isolation of individual cells for various applications, including the immortalizing primary cells, creating novel cell lines, and performing flow cytometry and its specialized type, FACS, as well as conducting scRNA-seq studies. Tissue dissociation procedures should yield intact, highly viable single cells that preserve morphology and cell surface markers. However, endocrine tissues, such as adrenal gland tumors, thyroid carcinomas, and pituitary neuroendocrine tumors, present unique challenges due to their complex tissue organization and morphological features.

Ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death mediated by lipid peroxidation (LPO), has become the subject of intense research due to its potential therapeutic applications in cancer chemotherapy as well as its pathophysiological role in ischemic organ injury. The role of mitochondrial lipid peroxidation (LPO) in ferroptosis remains poorly understood. We show that supplementation of exogenous iron in the form of ferric ammonium citrate (FAC) in combination with buthionine sulfoximine (BSO, an inhibitor of glutathione biosynthesis) induces mitochondrial lipid peroxidation that precedes ferroptosis in normal human fibroblasts.

We perform theoretical studies of nonlinear spectral responses of molecular aggregates upon multiple electronic excitations. It is shown that the transient absorption (TA) spectra exhibit gradual shifting to short wavelengths upon an increase in excitation energy accompanied by population of higher-order exciton manifolds. This transformation of the TA profile reflects a character of the exciton splitting and, therefore, is strongly dependent on the aggregate shape and size as well as on the exciton couplings and disorder of the site energies.

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) plays a major role in the DNA damage repair and transcriptional regulation, and is targeted by a number of clinical inhibitors. Despite this, catalytic mechanism of PARP1 remains largely underexplored because of the complex substrate/product structure. Mutations in human ppa2 gene encoding mitochondrial inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPA2) result in the mitochondria malfunction in heart and brain and lead to early death. In comparison with its cytosolic counterpart, PPA2 of any species is a poorly characterized enzyme with a previously unknown 3D structure.
