What We Should Expect from an Innovative Intra-Articular Hyaluronic Acid Product: Expert Opinion Based on a Comprehensive Review of the Literature.

Background: Intra-articular hyaluronic acid (IAHA) products are often used in the treatment of adults with mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis (KOA). The International Symposium on Intra-Articular Treatment (ISIAT) convened a multidisciplinary technical expert panel to define characteristics for an innovative IAHA product that should answer unmet needs in the clinical management of adults with mild-to-moderate KOA.

Methods: An initial set of evidence-based statements was developed based on data extracted from articles identified through a comprehensive literature search.

Background: Early stage of osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by joint stiffness and pain as well as by subclinical structural changes that may affect cartilage, synovium, and bone. At the moment, the lack of a validated definition of early osteoarthritis (EOA) does not allow to make an early diagnosis and adopt a therapeutic strategy to slow disease progression. The article discusses pathogenesis and treatment of COVID-19. The authors presented state-of-the-art insight into hemostatic disorders in patients with COVID-19 and clinical recommendations on prevention of thrombosis and thromboembolism in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. The article discussed in detail a new hypothesis proposed by Chinese physicians about a new component in the pathogenesis of COVID-19, namely, about the effect of SARS-CoV-2 virus on the hemoglobin beta-chain and the formation of a complex with porphyrin, which results in displacement of the iron ion.

Treat-to-target strategy for knee osteoarthritis. International technical expert panel consensus and good clinical practice statements.

Background: In this work, we aimed to establish a clinical target in the management of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and to propose good clinical practice (GCP) statements for carrying out a treat-to-target strategy.

Methods: A steering committee of seven experts had formulated a provisional set of recommendations that were exposed for discussion and modification to a technical expert panel (TEP) of 25 multidisciplinary experts from Europe, North America, South America and Asia. The level of evidence and strength of each recommendation was discussed.

Background: Exposure to transportation noise is widespread and has been associated with obesity in some studies. However, the evidence from longitudinal studies is limited and little is known about effects of combined exposure to different noise sources.

Objectives: The aim of this longitudinal study was to estimate the association between exposure to noise from road traffic, railways, or aircraft and the development of obesity markers.

[Assessment of caries risk factors among school-age children by comparing EGOHID scores in Minsk and Moscow].

The aim of the study was to assess the acceptability of the objective and subjective indicators for identification of oral diseases risk factors and the quality of dental care of school-aged children. The study included 200 school children of two age groups (12 and 15-year-old) surveyed in Minsk and Moscow cities using European global system of oral health indicators development (EGOHID). The modified WHO questionnaire was used to study behavioral habits of 15-year-old children.

The challenge of the definition of early symptomatic knee osteoarthritis: a proposal of criteria and red flags from an international initiative promoted by the Italian Society for Rheumatology.

The aim of this study was to establish consensus for potential early symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (ESKOA) clinical definition and referral criteria from primary care to rheumatologists, based on available data from literature and a qualitative approach, in order to perform studies on patients fulfilling such criteria and to validate the obtained ESKOA definition. A complex methodological approach was followed including: (1) three focus groups (FG), including expert clinicians, researchers and patients; (2) a systematic literature review (SLR); (3) two discussion groups followed by a Delphi survey. FG and SLR were performed in parallel to inform discussion groups in order to identify relevant constructs to be included in the modified Delphi survey.

The objective of the present study was to choose the optimal method for the modeling of the glance of a bullet after hitting a target under conditions of the laboratory experiment. The study required the designing and construction of an original device for the modeling of the rebound effect of a light-firearm shot under experimental conditions. The Use of Autologous Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Cell Therapy of Patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in Belarus.

We studied a new method of treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis with autologous mesenchymal stem cells. Autologous mesenchymal stem cells were injected intravenously (intact cells) or via lumbar puncture (cells committed to neuronal differentiation). Evaluation of the results of cell therapy after 12-month follow-up revealed slowing down of the disease progression in 10 patients in comparison with the control group consisting of 15 patients.

[The role of Fas/FasL system in the regulation of tumor-immune system interactions in papillary thyroid carcinoma in children and adolescents].

Fas(APO-1/CD95) is a transmembrane protein that induces apoptosis in susceptible normal and neoplastic cells upon cross-linking by its ligand (FasL). Changes in the Fas and FasL expression were suggested to be a potential mechanism of tumor immune evasion. Thyroid cancer in children and young adults of the Republic of Belarus is the consequence of the Chernobyl accident.

Evaluation of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid phospholipids and cytokine release by alveolar macrophages as prognostic markers in sarcoidosis.

Background: The clinical course of sarcoidosis is unpredictable and reliable laboratory prognostic parameters are lacking.

Objectives: The aim of the present study was to estimate the prognostic value of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) phospholipids and cytokine production by alveolar macrophages (AM) in pulmonary sarcoidosis.

Methods: We investigated BALF parameters in 64 subjects (55 patients with sarcoidosis and 9 healthy volunteers as controls).
