: Clinical trials location is determined by many factors, including the availability of patient populations, regulatory environment, scientific expertise, and cost considerations. In clinical drug development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), where genetic differences have been described and may be related to geographic setting, this could have implications for the clinical interpretation of results in underrepresented geographic settings. : The aim of this study was to review country participation in ALS clinical research based on available data from clinical trial registries and databases.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFManagement of posterior shoulder instability in patients with excessive glenoid retroversion can be challenging. However, a corrective posterior glenoid osteotomy is an option. Although various open techniques are available, minimally invasive and arthroscopy surgery are the most advantageous.

The arthroscopic remplissage procedure has been described to successfully treat engaging Hill-Sachs lesions and improve shoulder stability. Several variations of this technique have been described, including remplissage with 1 or 2 knotted or knotless anchors, remplissage with double or triple bridging pulleys, and remplissage with or without a subacromial view. However, most techniques use anchors in combination with round sutures.

Purpose: To characterize an epiretinal neovascular membrane (ERNM) through multimodal imaging in the context of a patient with Macular Telangiectasia type 2 (MacTel) and ipsilateral concomitant ocular ischemic syndrome (OIS).
Methods: Case report, with ultra-wide field (UWF) retinography, fluorescein angiography (FA), swept source optical coherence tomography (ss-OCT), and OCT-angiography (OCTA). Written informed consent for patient information and images to be published was provided by the patient.

Despite multiple modifications, the Latarjet is still the most popular procedure for recurrent anterior shoulder instability with glenoid bone loss Partial or subtotal resorption of the graft is common, potentially leading to hardware prominence and risk of anterior soft-tissue impingement. To minimize the technical difficulties and morbidity associated with metallic implants, a coracoid and conjoint tendon transfer with a mini-open approach using Cerclage tape suture is described, as an alternative for the Latarjet procedure typically performed with metal screws and plates.

Aims: The revascularization strategy to pursue in older myocardial infarction (MI) patients with multivessel disease (MVD) is currently unknown. For this reason, while waiting for the results of dedicated trials, we sought to compare a complete versus a culprit-only strategy in older MI patients by merging data from four registries.
Methods And Results: The inclusion criteria for the target population of the present study were (i) age ≥ 75 years; (ii) MI (STE or NSTE); (iii) MVD; (iv) successful treatment of culprit lesion.
Background The clinical significance of conduction disturbances after transcatheter aortic valve implantation has been described; however, little is known about the influence of baseline ECGs in the prognosis of these patients. Our aim was to study the influence of baseline ECG parameters, including interatrial block (IAB), in the prognosis of patients treated with transcatheter aortic valve implantation. Methods and Results The BIT (Baseline Interatrial Block and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) registry included 2527 patients with aortic stenosis treated with transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

Purpose: To evaluate the anatomic-functional results and complications associated with the use of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin in the treatment of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) secondary to angioid streaks (AS).
Methods: The authors retrospectively evaluated 10 consecutive patients (10 eyes) with CNV secondary to AS. All patients were treated with standard PDT with verteporfin protocol.
