Generally, in Nigeria dumpsites are open and elevate the pollution by increasing the total environment contamination level. This affects not only the site of dumpsites but also the surrounding buildings and area. In the present work, indoor radon activity concentration is tested inside some buildings in the vicinity of dumpsites in Lagos, Nigeria.

In this work, the potential of ZnSO·7HO in NiP sulphate electrolyte deposited on mild steel under constant optimum pH of 5, current density of 1 A/cm, stirring rate of 200 rpm, and varying time parameter between 10, 15, 20, and 25 min were studied using the electrodeposition method. The microstructure properties and corrosion resistance characteristics were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope enhanced with an energy-dispersive spectroscope and potentiodynamic polarization apparatus, respectively. The codeposited was subjected to different media test rig of 0.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 14 (USP14) is a member of the deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) involved in disrupting the ubiquitin-proteasome regulation system, responsible for the degradation of impaired and misfolded proteins, which is an essential mechanism in eukaryotic cells. The involvement of USP14 in cancer progression and neurodegenerative disorders has been reported. Thereof USP14 is a prime therapeutic target; hence, designing efficacious inhibitors against USP14 is central in curbing these conditions.

Purpose: In this study, measurements of radon concentrations and estimation of exhalation rates were carried out in soil around buildings within Lagos State in order to determine the contribution to indoor radon concentrations from the soil, and determine the influence of soil moisture on the exhalation rates.
Methods: Fifty-four samples were collected randomly with 27 measured as wet samples and 27 dried before measurements so as to account for the moisture content. Passive measurement method, using cover cup technique with solid state nuclear track detectors, CR-39, was employed.

Integrative conjugative elements (ICE) are a diverse group of chromosomally integrated, self-transmissible mobile genetic elements (MGE) that are active in shaping the functions of bacteria and bacterial communities. Each type of ICE carries a characteristic set of core genes encoding functions essential for maintenance and self-transmission, and cargo genes that endow on hosts phenotypes beneficial for niche adaptation. An important area to which ICE can contribute beneficial functions is the biodegradation of xenobiotic compounds.
