Amidst worldwide reports of adverse oral lesions subsequent to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination, the current systematic review planned to determine the prevalence of adverse oral events in adult individuals (≥18 years) after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, emphasizing upon the type and dose of vaccine, time of onset, and underlying pathophysiology. The registered protocol (PROSPERO CRD42023421307), conforming with PRISMA guidelines, included an all-inclusive literature search through online databases, consisting of Scopus, PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Lilacs, Livivo, and PROSPERO, completed on 2 May 2023, followed by assessment of risk of bias by Joana Briggs Institute Evaluation Checklist. Due to the paucity of literature, case reports and case series were included.

Motor rehabilitation in patients with facial disorders, such as facial paralysis (FP), has faced challenges in maintaining the patients' engagement and motivation in the intensive and repetitive execution of the exercises. To assist in the facial rehabilitation process, gamified tools (GTs) have been proposed to promote stimulation and engagement in affected patients. This study provides a comprehensive review on the use of GTs to aid facial rehabilitation, with the aim of investigating the potential of such computer-based tools to motivate facial mime exercises.

Most patients with acute facial palsy initially present to emergency departments (EDs), where clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) recommend steroids, eye care, and follow-up with facial nerve specialists. To evaluate adherence to the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) Bell's palsy (BP) CPGs within EDs at a single academic institution. : We conducted a retrospective review of all patients diagnosed with acute facial palsy in the EDs of an academic tertiary care center between June 1, 2021, and June 1, 2022.

Objectives: Although many studies have assessed the clinical features and the factors affecting treatment outcomes of Bell's palsy, few have analysed differences between men and women. This study therefore evaluated whether the clinical features and treatment results, and the factors affecting them, differ between men and women with Bell's palsy.
Methods: This retrospective study included 1708 patients (791 men and 917 women) who presented with facial palsy to the otolaryngology department between January 1986 and December 2022.

While there is ample evidence indicating an increased occurrence of general neurological conditions among individuals with diabetes, there has been limited exploration into the cause-and-effect connection between type 2 diabetes (T2D) and specific neurological disorders, including conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and Bell's palsy. We used Mendelian randomization (MR) approach to investigate the causal effects of T2D on 67 neurological diseases. We primarily utilized the inverse-variance weighted method for the analysis, and also employed the weighted median and MR-Egger methods in our study.

Phototherapy has emerged as a promising treatment for Bell's palsy, offering potential improvements in facial nerve function and overall well-being. In this study, we selected seven relevant studies involving 306 patients with subacute or acute Bell's palsy from PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Scopus before June 5, 2024. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) efficacy for facial nerve paralysis was assessed in seven studies.

Objectives: The key objective of this study was to assess the validity of a commercially available in-house Lymphocyte Transformation Test (LTT) as a diagnostic parameter and indicator of disease activity/therapeutic efficacy in the context of Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB).
Methods: A prospective dual-centre study was conducted from 05/14 - 01/18. With respect to Borrelia-LTT a comparison was made between patients suffering from confirmed acute LNB and patients being affected by inflammatory neurologic diseases, defining the control group: Bell's palsy, viral meningitis, herpes zoster, Guillain-Barré-Syndrome and Encephalomyelitis disseminate.
