Aortic valve replacement is the common treatment of choice for severe aortic valve insufficiency (AI). AI is often caused by aortic root dilatation which leads to valve incompetence despite structurally normal valve leaflets. For this condition, aortic repair surgery with ring annuloplasty is considered a potentially superior option.

Headache is one of the most common and disruptive pain manifestations in children and adolescents. This review examines the current evidence for the impact of primary headaches on well-being and quality of life in children with headaches. Several studies support that headaches cause a significant reduction in quality of life, which can be related to the headaches themselves and lead to limitations in family, social, and school activities.

CIPN affects sensory nerves and can persist post-treatment. Diagnosis relies on symptoms and the medical history.

Aortic root aneurysm is a frequent condition, which is associated with increased mortality and morbidity compared to other aortic aneurysms. The treatment relies on surgery, most often with the Bentall procedure or aortic valve-sparing root replacement (AVSRR). AVSRR is a highly specialised treatment associated with increased survival and low incidences of valve-related complications compared to the Bentall procedure.

Ingrown toenail is a common condition with many different treatment options. This review finds evidence that mild cases can be treated safely with non-surgical methods like change of ill-fitted shoes and nail brace. With failure in non-surgical treatment or in more severe cases surgical methods can be performed with note to the risk of complications - most frequently infection and the risk of recurrence at 3-13%.

Symbiotic relationships between eukaryotes and prokaryotes played pivotal roles in the evolution of life and drove the emergence of specialized symbiotic structures in animals, plants and fungi. The host-evolved symbiotic structures of microbial eukaryotes - the vast majority of such hosts in nature - remain largely unstudied. Here we describe highly structured symbiosomes within three free-living anaerobic protists (Anaeramoeba spp.

Rationale: Patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS) have high risk of hospitalization, which might be decreased by home mechanical ventilation (HMV).
Objectives: To evaluate annualized hospitalization rate (AHR) and change in AHR in patients with OHS starting home mechanical ventilation (HMV), and explore if there were any difference in AHR by starting HMV acutely or electively.
Methods: Population-based longitudinal study of patients with OHS starting HMV in the Swedish DISCOVERY cohort between 1996 and 2018, cross-linked with the National Patient Registry for national data on hospital admissions.

This clinical review article aims to describe symptoms and findings in cases of paediatric tracheobronchomalacia to help achieve the correct diagnosis and treatment. Symptoms and signs vary from reduced physical stamina, barking cough, productive cough and gurgling to obstructive episodes or episodes with stridor, which in some cases can be life-threatening. The range of symptoms overlaps with other pulmonary diseases, such as asthma, which increases the risk of misdiagnosis and treatment error.

Background: New national clinical guidelines are now available on advance care planning (ACP). Confidence in communication is important for implementation of the guidelines. This study aims to identify healthcare personnel's self-perceived confidence in communication about future medical care and patients' wishes at the end of life.

Objectives: Medical adhesives provide securement of medical devices, facilitate skin protection and allow non-invasive monitoring. Application and removal of medical adhesives can result in pain, dermatitis, trauma or other skin lesions. Understanding patients' experiences when subjected to medical adhesives will contribute to the improvement of clinical routines and the development and improvement of new adhesive technologies.

Background: Prostate cancer ranks as the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in men worldwide. Recent research highlights the crucial roles IL6ST-mediated signaling pathways play in the development and progression of various cancers, particularly through hyperactivated STAT3 signaling. However, the molecular programs mediated by IL6ST/STAT3 in prostate cancer are poorly understood.

A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

Background: Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) can cause left atrial (LA) and left ventricular (LV) remodelling, which is linked to atrial fibrillation (AF). Whether continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) can reverse LA and LV remodelling in patients with OSA and paroxysmal AF (PAF) has yet to be studied. We assessed the impact of CPAP treatment on LA and LV size and function in patients with OSA and PAF before and after catheter ablation.

Swedish surgical care shows high quality and patient safety. The reasons for this are several; among the most important are a generally well-educated staff and nation-wide quality registers. Areas in need of development are improved risk assessment and risk management, both for individual patients and for specific types of operations.
