A scoping review and expert consensus on digital determinants of health.

Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase and Web of Science on 24 September 2023, to identify eligible reviews published in 2018 and later. To ensure we included the most recent literature, we supplemented our review with non-systematic searches in PubMed® and Google Scholar, along with records identified by subject matter experts.

The progress in the field of clinical staging for mental disorders within the last decade: an updated systematic review.

Introduction: Clinical staging aims to refine psychiatric diagnosis by describing mental disorders on a continuum of disorder progression, with the pragmatic goal of improved treatment planning and outcome prediction. The first systematic review on this topic, published a decade ago, included 78 papers, and identified separate staging models for schizophrenia, unipolar depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, substance use disorder, anorexia, and bulimia nervosa. The current review updates this review by including new proposals for staging models and by systematically reviewing research based upon full or partial staging models since 2012.

The ability to tune the energy gap in bilayer graphene makes it the perfect playground for the study of the effects of internal electric fields, such as the crystalline field, which are developed when other layered materials are deposited on top of it. Here, we introduce a novel device architecture allowing simultaneous control over the applied displacement field and the crystalline alignment between two materials. Our experimental and numerical results confirm that the crystal field and electrostatic doping due to the interface reflect the 120° symmetry of the bilayer graphene/BN heterostructure and are highly affected by the commensurate state.

Nonhuman primates (NHPs) have been and remain a highly valuable animal model with an essential role in translational research and pharmaceutical drug development. Based on current regulatory guidelines, the nonclinical safety of novel therapeutics should be evaluated in relevant nonclinical species, which commonly includes NHPs for biotherapeutics. Given the practical and ethical limitations on availability and/or use of NHPs and in line with the widely accepted guiding "3Rs" (replace, reduce, and refine) principles, many approaches have been considered to optimize toxicity study designs to meaningfully reduce the number of NHPs used.

Somatic stem cell pools comprise diverse, highly specialized subsets whose individual contribution is critical for the overall regenerative function. In the bone marrow, myeloid-biased hematopoietic stem cells (myHSCs) are indispensable for replenishment of myeloid cells and platelets during inflammatory response but, at the same time, become irreversibly damaged during inflammation and aging. Here we identify an extrinsic factor, semaphorin 4A (Sema4A), which non-cell-autonomously confers myHSC resilience to inflammatory stress.

Background: To define optimal parameters for the evaluation of vessel visibility in intracranial stents (ICS) and flow diverters (FD) using photon-counting detector computed tomography angiography (PCD-CTA) with spectral reconstructions.

Cardiomyocytes can be implanted to remuscularize the failing heart. Challenges include sufficient cardiomyocyte retention for a sustainable therapeutic impact without intolerable side effects, such as arrhythmia and tumour growth. The mycobacterial ABC transporter IrtAB features an ABC exporter fold, yet it imports iron-charged siderophores called mycobactins. Here, we present extensive cryo-EM analyses and DEER measurements, revealing that IrtAB alternates between an inward-facing and an outward-occluded conformation, but does not sample an outward-facing conformation. When IrtAB is locked in its outward-occluded conformation in nanodiscs, mycobactin is bound in the middle of the lipid bilayer at a membrane-facing crevice opening at the heterodimeric interface.

Understanding the dynamics of injected charge carriers is crucial for the analysis of the perovskite light-emitting diode (PeLED) operation. The behavior of the injected carriers largely dictates the external quantum efficiency (EQE) roll-off at high current densities and the temperature dependence of the EQE in PeLEDs. We report on a fatal case of invasive fungal rhinosinusitis with after lung transplantation. After endoscopic treatment and adjuvant medical therapy with isavuconazole, caspofungin and an investigational antifungal drug, there was a good clinical response with absence of endoscopic and radiographic disease. However, the patient developed disease recurrence, with signs of intracranial involvement on MRI, for which urgent endoscopic sinus surgery was performed and isavuconazole was restarted.

The ectoparasite Varroa destructor is a major contributor to the global decline of honeybee colonies (Apis mellifera), especially in the Northern Hemisphere. However, Varroa-resistant honeybee populations have been reported in various regions around the globe, including Europe and Africa. This resistance is primarily attributed to the trait known as Suppressed Mite Reproduction (SMR), which significantly reduces the reproductive success of Varroa mites within these colonies.
