This study investigates the influence of curing temperature (explored at 10 °C, 20 °C, and 30 °C) on the volume changes of alkali-activated slag (AAS) pastes with the aim of expanding existing knowledge on alkali-activated materials (AAMs). The focus was on autogenous and thermal strains, internal relative humidity (IRH), heat flow and cumulative heat, setting times, and workability. The results indicate that increasing the curing temperature to 30 °C reduces autogenous shrinkage, likely due to changes in the elastic modulus and viscoelastic properties, while promoting swelling, especially for higher molarities.

The interleukin (IL)-17 family encompasses six structurally related pro-inflammatory cystine knot proteins, designated as IL-17A to IL-17F. Over the last decades, evidence has pointed to its role as a critical player in the development of inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis (PsO), axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). More specifically, IL-17A and IL-17F are overexpressed in the skin and synovial tissues of patients with these diseases, and recent studies suggest their involvement in promoting inflammation and tissue damage in axSpA and PsA.

The acute phase response is a hallmark of all inflammatory reactions and acute phase reactants, such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins, are among the most useful plasma and serum markers of inflammation in clinical medicine. Although it is well established that inflammatory cytokines, mainly interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) induce SAA in the liver, the biological functions of elicited SAA remain an enigma. By the classical multi-step protein purification studies of chemotactic factors present in plasma or serum, we discovered novel chemokines and SAA1 fragments, which are induced during inflammatory reactions.

Afatinib-induced tumor and microenvironment modifications in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma were evaluated by spatial transcriptomics in surgical specimens and RNA-sequencing in tumor biopsies of patients included in the EORTC-90111-24111 window-of-opportunity study. The aim was to explore tumor evolution and composition under anti-HER therapy. Based on our previous investigations by RNA-seq on tumor biopsies, surgical slides of ID08 and ID15 from the epithelial-to-mesenchymal (EMT) cluster and ID30 from the non-EMT cluster were investigated with spatial transcriptomics.

Herein, nine square planar -arylbis(triphenylphosphine)palladium halides (PdX(PPh)Ar) were synthesized and fully characterized. The molecular structure of two complexes ( and ) have been determined by both X-ray diffraction and described thanks to Hirshfeld surface analysis. Investigation of the antioxidant activities showed that most of the complexes exhibit a strong dose-dependent radical scavenging activity towards DPPH radical as well as in the ABTS radical scavenging test.

Sheep and goats are an important source of livelihood for smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). These livestock are almost entirely managed by resource-poor, smallholder farmers and pastoralists. Despite the large number of sheep and goats in SSA, their productivity is low, mainly due to diseases, poor feed, and inferior breeds.

Introduction: The United States Food and Drug Administration Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee voted (September 2024) against the use of programmed cell death protein-1 inhibitors for first-line treatment of advanced or metastatic unresectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) with a programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression Tumor Area Positivity (TAP) score < 1% or combined positive score < 1 due to an unfavorable benefit-risk profile observed across the phase 3 CheckMate 648, KEYNOTE-590, and RATIONALE-306 trials. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective analysis of RATIONALE-306 to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tislelizumab plus investigator-chosen chemotherapy (ICC) versus placebo plus ICC in patients with advanced or metastatic unresectable ESCC and a PD-L1 TAP score ≥ 1%.
Methods: Adult patients with advanced or metastatic unresectable ESCC enrolled in the global, randomized, phase 3 RATIONALE-306 trial randomly received tislelizumab 200 mg every 3 weeks plus ICC or matched placebo plus ICC.
