Objectives: Urticarial vasculitis (UV) is characterized by atypical urticarial lesions and leukocytoclastic vasculitis, sometimes with extracutaneous manifestations. First-line treatment is based on colchicine, hydroxychloroquine, dapsone or low-dose glucocorticoids. In refractory forms, the use of biologics has been anecdotally described as potentially effective.

Objective: The Self-Discrepancies Scale (S-DS) is a multiple-subscore instrument designed to assess discrepancies between mental representations of the self: the actual self on one hand, and the ideal and socially prescribed selves on the other. Its idiographic subscores rely on the endorsement of self-descriptive traits, while its abstract subscores form an overall judgement of felt self-discrepancies. The objectives of the present study were to (i) evaluate the S-DS in a new non-clinical population, (ii) expand the body of data on the S-DS's convergent validity, (iii) study the idiographic data for the S-DS, and (iv) establish a nomothetic list of traits with a better choice of unwanted traits.

Introduction: Following two weeks of application of the triple combination therapy of Elexacaftor (E), Tezacaftor (T), and Ivacaftor (I) known as ETI, substantial pulmonary improvement in patients with cystic fibrosis is well-documented. However, few detailed data are available on the action of this treatment over the course of these first 14 days.
Methods: In this prospective study (NCT05599230), 20 patients aged≥12 years, all of them eligible for ETI, were recruited at the initiation of treatment.

The extracellular vesicle release in red blood cell concentrates reflects progressive accumulation of storage lesions and could represent a new measure to be implemented routinely in blood centres in addition to haemolysis. Nevertheless, there is currently no standardized isolation protocol. In a previous publication, we developed a reproducible ultracentrifugation-based protocol (20,000 × protocol) that allows to classify red blood cell concentrates into three cohorts according to their vesiculation level.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common and severe complication in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). While inhibitors of the renin-angiotensin system remained for a long time the only medications that had proven nephroprotective effects, several other pharmacological classes also recently showed such a benefit : sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors (gliflozins), glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide), and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRA, finerenone). This clinical vignette aims at explaining the pharmacotherapy strategy for a patient with T2D who presents a progressive CKD.

In 1849, Thomas Addison discovered alterations in the adrenal glands at autopsy of three patients who had died with idiopathic anemia. Struck by Addison's work, Charles-Edouard Brown-Séquard demonstrated in 1851 that bilateral adrenalectomy in dogs was fatal. It was not until 1950 that the discovery of the hormones of the adrenal cortex, their structure and their biological effects allowed Kendall, Reichstein and Hench to win the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (iPAH) is a rare, rapidly progressive disease associated with high morbidity and mortality. It is characterized by endothelial dysfunction within the pulmonary vascular bed and gradually leads to an increase in the pulmonary vascular resistances. Its non-specific symptomatology delays the diagnosis and brings the most severe forms to right ventricular failure.

Spontaneous cervical swelling syndrome is a rare, benign, and recurrent condition, most commonly affecting middle-aged women. Although its etiology is not fully understood, it is thought to be associated with intermittent occlusion of the thoracic duct, caused by increased pressure in the head and neck region. It occurs as an acute, limited swelling of the left supra-clavicular region and regresses, in most cases, spontaneously, in less than a week.

Case Report: We report the case of a 63-year-old patient who underwent aortic valve replacement with a biological valve for a bicuspid aortic stenosis, and LIMA-IVA single-bypass surgery. Two weeks later, he presented with Enterococcus faecillis bacteremia, attributed to left pyelonephritis and successfully treated with Amoxicillin. Two months after his surgery, he had a new bacteremia due to Enterococcus faecalis and we discovered a pseudo-aneurysm of the mitro-aortic trigone.

Combustion of surgical drapes during surgery is a rare event which can nonetheless lead to serious consequences. Iatrogenic burns caused by this complication are often deep and lead to functional and aesthetic sequelae. Nevertheless, awareness of the triggering factors and mechanisms, as well as knowledge of the proper use of various at-risk products such as alcohol-based antiseptic agents and compressed oxygen can reduce the incidence of these undesirable events.

Background: Deprescribing is a strategy to optimize medication use and to prevent medication harm. Despite the fact that behavioral theories have been shown to be useful in explaining health behaviors, the literature on deprescribing relies almost exclusively on attitudes as an explanatory factor for deprescribing behavior. This study systematically reviews the literature that made explicit use of the constructs included in health behavior theories (HBTs) to explain older adults' and informal caregivers' deprescribing behavior and outcomes.

Uterine rupture is a well-known, life-threatening complication of misoprostol use; the incidence is remarkably low. Herein, we report what seems to be the first documented case of uterine rupture following induction of labour for intrauterine foetal death in the second trimester without a uterine scar. A 40-year-old woman with no history of caesarean section or uterine surgery presented with mild lower abdominal pain and mild genital bleeding.
