Aim: to study the microstructure of the urethral plate in patients with a proximal form of hypospadias to justify the use of tissues from the ventral penile surface when creating an artificial urethra.
Materials And Methods: A histological study of surgical specimens from 10 patients with proximal hypospadias was carried out. The urethral plate, a strip of tissue from the ectopic external urethral orifice located in the penoscrotal angle, to the coronary sulcus, was completely excised and processed by various techniques.

The EuroSIDA study was initiated in 1994 and follows adult people living with HIV (PLHIV) in 100 collaborating clinics across 35 countries covering all European regions, Israel and Argentina. The study aims to study the long-term virological, immunological and clinical outcomes of PLHIV and to monitor temporal changes and regional differences in outcomes across Europe. Annually collected data include basic demographic characteristics, information on AIDS- and non-AIDS-related clinical events, and details about antiretroviral therapy (ART), hepatitis C treatment and other medications, in addition to a range of laboratory values.

Tuberculosis (TB) is currently the world's leading cause of infectious mortality. The complex immune response of the human body to () results in a wide array of clinical manifestations, thus the clinical and radiological diagnosis can be challenging. F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-FDG-PET) scan with/without computed tomography (CT) component images the whole body and provides a metabolic map of the infection, enabling clinicians to assess the disease burden.

Objectives: Netakimab (NTK) is a humanised monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-17A, previously investigated in a phase 1 trial in healthy volunteers. Here, we report the results of a phase 2 trial, conducted to assess safety and pharmacokinetics (PK), to establish a therapeutic dose of NTK in a target population of patients with active ankylosing spondylitis (AS).
Methods: 89 patients with active AS, despite non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug treatment, were randomised to receive 40, 80 or 120 mg of subcutaneous NTK or placebo at weeks 0, 1, 2 and q2wk thereafter until week 12.

Background/objectives: Inadequate HIV care for hard-to-reach populations may result in failing the UNAIDS 90-90-90 goal. Therefore, we aimed to review the HIV continuum of care and hard-to-reach populations for each step of the continuum in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe.
Methods: Euro-guidelines in Central and Eastern Europe (ECEE) Network Group were created in February 2016.

Background: Direct comparisons between countries in core HIV care parameters are often hampered by differences in data collection.
Aim: Within the EuroSIDA study, we compared levels of antiretroviral treatment (ART) coverage and virological suppression (HIV RNA < 500 copies/mL) across Europe and explored temporal trends.
Methods: In three cross-sectional analyses in 2004-05, 2009-10 and 2014-15, we assessed country-specific percentages of ART coverage and virological suppression among those on ART.

Background: Despite that confirmative diagnosis of pulmonary drug-sensitive tuberculosis (DS-TB) and multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is determined by microbiological testing, early suspicions of MDR-TB by chest imaging are highly desirable in order to guide diagnostic process. We aim to perform an analysis of currently available literatures on radiological signs associated with pulmonary MDR-TB.
Methods: A literature search was performed using PubMed on January 29, 2018.

Background: According to guidelines all HIV-HBV-coinfected patients should receive tenofovir-based combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). We aimed to investigate uptake and outcomes of tenofovir-based cART among HIV-HBV patients in the EuroSIDA study.
Methods: All hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)+ patients followed up after 1 March 2002 were included.
Objectives: Five to eight per cent of HIV-positive individuals initiating abacavir (ABC) experience potentially fatal hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs). We sought to describe the proportion of individuals initiating ABC and to describe the incidence and factors associated with HSR among those prescribed ABC.
Methods: We calculated the proportion of EuroSIDA individuals receiving ABC-based combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) among those receiving cART after 1 January 2009.

Background/objective: We urgently need novel treatments for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Autologous mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) infusion is one such possibility due to its potential to repair damaged lung tissue and boost immune responses. We aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of MSC to improve treatment outcomes among MDR-TB patients.

Objectives: HIV-positive people have increased risk of infection-related malignancies (IRMs) and infection-unrelated malignancies (IURMs). The aim of the study was to determine the impact of aging on future IRM and IURM incidence.
Methods: People enrolled in EuroSIDA and followed from the latest of the first visit or 1 January 2001 until the last visit or death were included in the study.

Methods: Patients taking combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) in EuroSIDA with follow-up after 1 January 2006 were included in the study.

Introduction: EuroSIDA has previously reported a poorer clinical prognosis for HIV-positive individuals in Eastern Europe (EE) as compared with patients from other parts of Europe, not solely explained by differences in patient characteristics. We explored regional variability in self-reported HIV management at individual EuroSIDA clinics, with a goal of identifying opportunities to reduce the apparent inequalities in health.
Methods: A survey (www.

Experimental data on the hemodynamics of dental pulp at different stages of caries treatment are given. Observations of speckle patterns in backscattered laser light are used as a measurement method to qualitatively characterize changes in blood flow rate through the dental pulp. The measurements were made by the author-designed experimental setup.

Trichinellosis treated with Mebendazole often leads to complications in the course of the disease in humans and animals as a result of intoxication and hyper-sensitization of an organism due to the massive destruction of parasites. This study was conducted to research Mebendazole incidence on lipid peroxidation processes (LPP) in rats' blood in Trichinella spiralis-infected and parasite-free albino rats. The research was conducted to evaluate erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malonic dialdehyde (MDA) concentration in blood serum.

Apoptosis (Programmed Cell Death) is a genetically regulated, morphologically distinct form of cell death that can be initiated by many different physiological and pathological stimuli. Such strategic intracellular programming is initiated in many instances during normal life cycle and development in order to maintain the homeostasis of a multicellular organism, to eliminate unwanted cells. However, apoptosis is also involved in a wide range of pathologic conditions, including neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases, cancer and autoimmune diseases.
