Abstract-Myxomycetes are amoeboid fungus-like organisms (Amoebozoa) with a unique life cycle characterized by a great morphological diversity of fruiting bodies. Due to the similarity of these structures to the fruiting bodies of some representatives of Ascomycota and Basidiomycota, myxomycetes have been classified as fungi since the first known scientific description in 1654. Only in the 19th century, when their life cycle was studied, did the difference of this group from fungi become clear.

Background: In Europe, mortality rates from noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) among persons 30-69 years of age ("NCD premature mortality rates") have declined significantly, except in twelve countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Data on long-term trends in NCD mortality in these countries are limited. We analyzed NCD premature mortality rates, identified change points in NCD mortality trends and forecasted how likely countries are to achieve the global NCD targets, stratified by gender and NCD type.

One of the most significant limitations of photodynamic therapy is its reduced efficacy in hypoxic microenvironments, which are typical of the majority of tumors. This work demonstrates that indolenine heptamethine cyanines with different substituents in the polymethine chain and at the terminal heterocycles are effective superoxide generators that can be activated in the near-infrared range. The introduction of an indene moiety into the polymethine chain results in a significant enhancement in photostability compared to dyes with a cyclohexene moiety or an unsubstituted polymethine chain.

The dataset presents a 43 year-long reanalysis of pollen seasons for three major allergenic genera of trees in Europe: alder (Alnus), birch (Betula), and olive (Olea). Driven by the meteorological reanalysis ERA5, the atmospheric composition model SILAM predicted the flowering period and calculated the Europe-wide dispersion pattern of pollen for the years 1980-2022. The model applied an extended 4-dimensional variational data assimilation of in-situ observations of aerobiological networks in 34 European countries to reproduce the inter-annual variability and trends of pollen production and distribution.

WHO Collaborating Center for Research in Surgical Care Delivery in Low and Middle-Income Countries, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Background & objectives Traumatic injuries, especially in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs), present significant challenges in patient resuscitation and healthcare delivery. This study explores the role of trauma training programmes in improving patient outcomes and reducing preventable trauma-related deaths. Methods A dual approach was adopted, first a literature review of trauma training in LMICs over the past decade, along with a situational assessment survey.

Background & objectives Injuries profoundly impact global health, with substantial deaths and disabilities, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This paper presents strategic consensus from the Transdisciplinary Research, Advocacy, and Implementation Network for Trauma in India (TRAIN Trauma India) symposium, advocating for enhanced, system-level trauma care to address this challenge. Methods Five working groups conducted separate literature reviews on pre-hospital trauma care, in-hospital trauma resuscitation and training, trauma systems, trauma registries, and India's Towards Improving Trauma Care Outcomes (TITCO) registry.

Rabi oscillations (transient nutations) are a phenomenon that has proven itself well in EPR for identifying electron spin quantum numbers and electron-spin transitions. They are successfully applied when the Rabi frequency significantly exceeds the spin relaxation rates and therefore does not depend on these rates. However, the short transverse relaxation time, being comparable to or even shorter than the dead time of EPR spectrometers, makes it difficult to observe Rabi oscillations and their frequency depends not only on the intensity of the short microwave pulse, but also on its shape and relaxation rates.

Nanopolymers represent a significant group of delivery vehicles for hydrophobic drugs. In particular, dual stimuli-responsive smart polymer nanomaterials might be extremely useful for drug delivery and release. We analyzed the possibility to include the known antitumor drug doxorubicin (DOX), which has antimitotic and antiproliferative effects, in a nanopolymer complex.

Introduction: The influence of chitosan's physicochemical characteristics on the functionality of lactic acid bacteria and the production of lactic acid remains very obscure and contradictory to date. While some studies have shown a stimulatory effect of oligochitosans on the growth of Lactobacillus spp, other studies declare a bactericidal effect of chitosan. The lack and contradiction of knowledge prompted us to study the effect of chitosan on the growth and productivity of in the presence of chitosan and its derivatives.
