The administration route affects the biodistribution of a gene transfer vector and the expression of a transgene. A simian adenovirus 1 vector carrying firefly luciferase and GFP reporter genes (SAdV1-GFluc) were constructed, and its biodistribution was investigated in a mouse model by bioluminescence imaging and virus DNA tracking with real-time PCR. Luciferase activity and virus DNA were mainly found in the liver and spleen after the intravenous administration of SAdV1-GFluc.

This scoping review addresses the transformation and development of new healthcare systems in nine countries -Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan over the period following the collapse of the Soviet Union from 1991 to the present. This assessment focuses on maternal and child health, mental health, communicable diseases, and non-communicable diseases in an effort to highlight the changes in the healthcare status of these nine countries under scrutiny. Considering that all the post-Soviet nations are officially recognized members of the World Health Organization (WHO) and have demonstrated their commitment to attaining the WHO's objectives, the evaluation of healthcare system progress and improvement was carried out utilizing indicators provided by the WHO.

Background: Quantitative measurement of minimal residual disease (MRD) is the "gold standard" for estimating the response to therapy in childhood B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL). Nevertheless, the speed of the MRD response differs for different cytogenetic subgroups. Here we present results of MRD measurement in children with BCP-ALL, in terms of genetic subgroups with relation to clinically defined risk groups.

Unsupervised learning based on restricted Boltzmann machine or autoencoders has become an important research domain in the area of neural networks. In this paper mathematical expressions to adaptive learning step calculation for RBM with ReLU transfer function are proposed. As a result, we can automatically estimate the step size that minimizes the loss function of the neural network and correspondingly update the learning step in every iteration.

Commercial panels of microsatellite (STR) loci are focused on the use of DNA of the domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris) and are often inapplicable for genotyping the DNA of the gray wolf (Canis lupus lupus). We propose a CPlex test system, including one hexa- and 12 tetranucleotide autosomal STR loci, as well as two sex loci, that is equally efficient in DNA identification of biological samples of the wolf and the dog. Analysis of molecular variance between samples revealed significant differentiation values (F = 0.

Background: The European Renal Association (ERA) Registry collects data on kidney replacement therapy (KRT) in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). This paper is a summary of the ERA Registry Annual Report 2021, including a comparison across treatment modalities.
Methods: Data was collected from 54 national and regional registries from 36 countries, of which 35 registries from 18 countries contributed individual patient data and 19 registries from 19 countries contributed aggregated data.

Epigenetic regulation of gene expression is involved in the progression of mental disorders, including deviant behavior, brain developmental, and personality disorders. The large number of genes has been studied for their activity association with stress and depression; however, the obtained results for the majority of these genes are contradictory. The aim of our study was to investigate the possible contribution of methylation level changes to the development of personality disorders and deviant behavior.

The chronic and acute effects of stress can have divergent effects on health; long-term effects are associated with detrimental physical and mental health sequelae, while acute effects may be advantageous in the short-term. Stress-induced analgesia, the attenuation of pain perception due to stress, is a well-known phenomenon that has yet to be systematically investigated under ecological conditions. Using Flo, a women's health and wellbeing app and menstrual cycle tracker, with a world-wide monthly active usership of more than 57 million, women in Ukraine were monitored for their reporting of stress, pain and affective symptoms before, and immediately after, the onset of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Background: Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra (Ultra) is an automated molecular test for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in sputum. We compared the sensitivity of Ultra to that of mycobacterial growth indicator tube (MGIT) liquid culture, considered the most sensitive assay in routine clinical use.
Methods: In this prospective, multicentre, cross-sectional diagnostic accuracy study, we used a non-inferiority design to assess whether the sensitivity of a single Ultra test was non-inferior to that of a single liquid culture for detection of M tuberculosis in sputum.
Introduction: Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) is metastatic disease with no identifiable site of origin. Retroperitoneal squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary is extremely rare. There are limited reports regarding treatment recommendations and outcomes for women with this disease.

Lead-free relaxor ferroelectric ceramics with outstanding energy-storage (ES) density () and high ES efficiency () are crucial for advanced pulse-power capacitors. This study introduces a strategic approach to maximizing the polarization difference (Δ) by inducing a transition from the ferroelectric phase to the ergodic relaxor (ER) phase. By employing this strategy, a series of ceramics, (1 - )(BiNaK)TiO-(SrLa)(ZrTi)O (BNKT-SLZT), with varying SLZT content ( = 0.

The core-shell structure is an effective means to improve the stability and optoelectronic properties of cesium lead halide (CsPbX (X = Cl, Br, I)) perovskite quantum dots (QDs). However, confined by the ionic radius differences, developing a core-shell packaging strategy suitable for the entire CsPbX system remains a challenge. In this study, we introduce an optimized hot-injection method for the epitaxial growth of the CsPbX substrate on CsPbX surfaces, achieved by precisely controlling the reaction time and the ratio of lead halide precursors.

The structural and electronic properties of ReS different forms - three-dimensional bulk and two-dimensional monolayer - were studied within density functional theory and pseudopotentials. A method for standardizing the description of bulk unit cells and "artificial" slab unit cells for DFT research has been proposed. The preference of this method for studying zone dispersion has been shown.

The 50-km ultra-marathon is a popular race distance, slightly longer than the classic marathon distance. However, little is known about the country of affiliation and age of the fastest 50-km ultra-marathon runners and where the fastest races are typically held. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate a large dataset of race records for the 50-km distance race to identify the country of affiliation and the age of the fastest runners as well as the locations of the fastest races.

Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) has been demonstrated to be an effective intervention for various shoulder disorders. The number of rTSA-related studies performed has increased annually over the past three decades. The Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery had the highest number of publications and citations in the rTSA-related research domain and is therefore considered to be the most influential journal in this field.
