Dual-responsive nanoparticles for enhanced drug delivery in breast Cancer chemotherapy.

J Control Release

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Natural and Biomimetic Drugs, Beijing Key Laboratory of Molecular Pharmaceutics and New Drug Delivery Systems, and School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Peking University, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Drug delivery efficiency often affects chemotherapy outcome due to dense collagen barrier in tumor environment. Here, we report a nanoparticle capable of pH and glutathione dual-responsive drug delivery to enhance the efficacy of breast cancer chemotherapy. Maleiminated polyethylene glycol and polylactide block copolymer were synthesized as a core material, doxorubicin was encapsulated into the nanoparticle by self-assembly.

Elucidating the pharmacological effects of Compound Kushen injection on MYC-P15-CCND1 signaling pathway in nasopharyngeal carcinoma - An in vitro study.

J Ethnopharmacol

October 2023

Department of Clinical Chinese Pharmacy, School of Chinese Materia Medica, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Beijing, 100102, China. Electronic address:

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Compound Kushen injection (CKI) is a representative medication of Chinese herbal injection and is often used in the adjuvant treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), but its antitumor mechanism is poorly understood.

Aim Of The Study: To preliminarily elucidate the effects and possible mechanisms of CKI on NPC.

Methods: In this work, we explored the possible molecular mechanisms of CKI against NPC by using network pharmacology and molecular docking.

Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Beijing 100700, China.

Article Synopsis
  • * Historical and modern analyses show that while the composition has remained stable over time, the clinical dosage has decreased, with ancient uses focusing on symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and hiccups, shifting to modern applications for digestive diseases.
  • * The paper reviews the evolution of the decoction's preparation and use, providing insights valuable for future research and development of derivative medications based on Xuanfu Daizhe Decoction.

This study aims to evaluate the anti-tumor and analgesic activities of Compound Kushen Injection(CKI) based on zebrafish model in vivo and investigate the anti-tumor mechanism. To be specific, zebrafish tumor xenotransplantation model was established by microinjection of murine LPC H12 cells into yolk sac. Then the high-dose CKI(H-CKI), medium-dose CKI(M-CKI), low-dose CKI(L-CKI) groups, and the model group were set.

Thirty-five previous meta-analyses have been reported on the individual glutathione S-transferase M1 (GSTM1) present/null, glutathione S-transferase T1 (GSTT1) present/null, and glutathione S-transferase P1 (GSTP1) IIe105Val polymorphisms with lung cancer (LC) risk. However, they did not appraise the credibility and explore the combined effects between the 3 genes and LC risk.We performed a meta-analysis and re-analysis of systematic previous meta-analyses to solve the above problems.

Qizhi Tongluo Capsules, which is composed of 26 herbal drugs, is mainly used as the assistant therapy for apoplexy sequelae. The chemical composition of Qizhi Tongluo Capsules was complex, but its chemical constituents and the pharmacodynamic material basis remain unreported. The ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography coupled with hybrid quadrupole-orbitrap mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS) was applied to recognize the chemical constituents of Qizhi Tongluo Capsules.

Rationale: Due to the rarity of bilateral cerebral peduncular infarction (BCPI), its symptoms and prognosis are not clear. It is necessary to collect cases of pure cerebral peduncular infarction, explore the etiology and anatomy of midbrain infarction in depth, and develop meaningful tools for explaining clinical symptoms and predicting prognosis of patients.

Patient Concerns: We here provide a case of isolated BCPI with uncommon symptoms of ataxia, dysarthria, sensory disturbance, normal muscular strength, and full eye movements.

Shanxi Zhendong Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, Changzhi 047100, China.

Kushen (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis) has a long history of use for the treatment of tumors, inflammation and other diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. Compound Kushen Injection (CKI) is a mixture of natural compounds extracted from Kushen and Baituling (Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae). The main principles of CKI are matrine (MT) and oxymatrine (OMT) that exhibit a variety of pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-viral, anti-fibrotic and cardiovascular protective effects.
