Introduction: To assess the efficacy and safety of retrocorneal membrane interception (RMI)-enhanced penetrating canaloplasty in glaucoma secondary to iridocorneal endothelial syndrome (GS-ICE) with open angle or small peripheral anterior synechiae (PAS).
Methods: A series of 13 patients (13 eyes) with GS-ICE and uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) underwent RMI-enhanced penetrating canaloplasty from March 2019 to October 2020. The patients were followed up at one week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months, postoperatively.

Background: To explore temporal trends and determine driving factors of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) burden in older adults aged 60-89 years at global, regional and national levels from 1990 to 2019.
Methods: Prevalence and years lived with disability (YLDs) were extracted. Joinpoint regression analysis was adopted to calculate average annual percentage change and to identify the year with the most significant changes.

Introduction: Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is the only disease-modifying treatment for patients with IgE-mediated allergic diseases. Successful AIT can induce long-term immune tolerance to the common allergen, which provides clinical benefits for years after discontinuation. The cytokine interleukin (IL)-10, as a key anti-inflammatory mediator with strong immunoregulatory functions, has drawn increasing attention over the past decades.

Purpose: To investigate the change in the vault of the implantable collamer lens (ICL) under dark-to-light conditions and its association with anterior chamber and lens parameters in patients undergoing ICL surgery.
Methods: In 76 eyes from 40 patients, preoperative anterior chamber volume (ACV), pupil diameter (PD), anterior chamber angle, central corneal thickness (CCT), white-to-white (WTW), lens thickness (LT), axial length (AL), spherical equivalent (SE) and patient's age were collected. Postoperative vault, PD and LT were measured under dark and light conditions using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (CASIA2; TOMEY, Japan), and changes and lens displacement under dark-to-light conditions were calculated.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is a multifocal disease characterized by genomic and phenotypic heterogeneity within a single gland. In this study, Visium spatial transcriptomics (ST) analysis was applied to PCa tissues with different histological structures to infer the molecular events involved in Gleason score (GS) progression. The spots in tissue sections were classified into various groups using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Louvain clustering analysis based on transcriptome data.

Although structural and functional damage to the brain is considered to be an important neurobiological mechanism of postoperative delirium (POD), alterations in the visual cortical network related to this vulnerability have not yet been determined. In this study, we investigated the impact of alterations in the visual network (VN), as measured by structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), on the development of POD. Thirty-six adult patients with frontal glioma who underwent elective craniotomy were recruited.

Uveitis is a vision-threatening disease primarily driven by a dysregulated immune response, with retinal microglia playing a pivotal role in its progression. Although the transcription factor EGR2 is known to be closely associated with uveitis, including Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease and Behcet's disease, and is essential for maintaining the dynamic homeostasis of autoimmunity, its exact role in uveitis remains unclear. In this study, diminished EGR2 expression was observed in both retinal microglia from experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) mice and inflammation-induced human microglia cell line (HMC3).

Aim: To assess the clinical presentations and outcomes of idiopathic orbital inflammatory pseudotumor (IOIP) patients with orbital wall bone destruction (OWBD) and to propose an expanded classification system that includes bone destruction.
Methods: The study retrospectively reviewed clinical presentations, imaging findings, treatment modalities, and outcomes of six patients diagnosed histopathologically with IOIP and OWBD at the Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University between October 2018 and June 2021.
Results: Over two years, 6 (10%) of 60 IOIP patients at our hospital exhibited OWBD, but this may overrepresent severe cases.

Patients with hepatic failure are often accompanied by hepatic retinopathy, but the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the hepatic retinopathy remain unclear. In this study, we investigated how liver failure leads to hepatic retinopathy using bile duct ligation (BDL) rats as a cholestasis animal model. Light-dark box test was used to assess sensitivity to light, indexed as visual acuity.
