Background: The current conclusions of molecular genetics still cannot satisfactorily explain the pathogenesis of focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) and the reason for drug resistance. The interneurons of GABA deserve attention. To observe the distribution and changes of GABAergic neurons and to explore the expression of cation chloride cotransporter NKCC1/KCC2 in focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) type II lesions is a highly significant job.

Background: Homeobox A (HOXA) family is involved in the development of malignancies as either tumor suppressors or oncogenes. However, their roles in glioblastoma (GBM) and clinical significance have not been fully elucidated.
Methods: HOXA mutation and expressions in pan-cancers were investigated using GSCA and Oncomine, which in GBM were validated by cBioPortal, Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA), and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets.

Inflammatory responses after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) contribute to severe secondary brain injury, leading to poor clinical outcomes. However, the responsible genes for effective anti-inflammation treatment in ICH remain poorly elucidated. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of human ICH were explored by online GEO2R.

Gliomas are highly aggressive intracranial tumors that are difficult to resect and have high lethality and recurrence rates. According to WHO grading criteria, glioblastoma with wild-type IDH1 has a poorer prognosis than WHO grade 4 IDH-mutant astrocytomas. To date, no effective therapeutic strategies have been developed to treat glioblastoma.

Current cancer therapeutic strategies are generally not sufficient to eradicate malignancy, as cancer stroma cells contribute to tumor evasion and therapeutic resistance. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) constitute a largely heterogeneous type of stromal cell population and are important components of the tumor microenvironment (TME). CAFs are the most abundant stromal cell type and are actively involved in tumor progression through complex mechanisms involving effects on other cell types.

Adult-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can be used in therapies for the treatment of various diseases. The MSCs derived from aging tissues or long-term MSC cultures could have diminished therapeutic effects compared with MSCs derived from younger tissues, but the underlying mechanism has not been completely established. Dysfunction of energy metabolism is one of the main mechanisms underlying cell senescence.

The conventional treatment strategy for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is surgical resection followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Oncolytic adenovirotherapy is a promising alternative to conventional treatment. It provides a strategic combination of direct tumor-specific cell lysis and antitumor immune promotion.

Some members of the tripartite motif-containing protein family have been reported as important regulators of carcinogenesis. In the present study, it was investigated whether tripartite motif-containing protein 44 (TRIM44) acts as a pro-oncogene through their over-expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Its results showed that TRIM44 was up-regulated in tumor tissues and cell lines of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Patients with glioblastoma (GBM) have poor prognosis and limited treatment options, largely due to therapy resistance upon the induction of apoptosis. Ferroptosis emerges as a potential antineoplastic strategy to bypass apoptosis resistance in traditional therapeutics. Hypoxia is a fundamental hallmark of GBM and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) is the main regulator of hypoxia response, however, the role of HIF has not been sufficiently explored in GBM.

Purpose: Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common primary intraocular malignant tumor in adults, with patients having a low overall survival rate. Oncolytic viruses (OVs) have been shown effective as monotherapy or combined with immunotherapy in the treatment of UM. Oncolytic herpes simplex type I virus (oHSV-1) was found to alter gene expression and immune function in UMs.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly immunosuppressive and vascular malignant brain tumor. Current therapeutic strategies targeting tumor cells have limited efficacy because of the immunosuppressive microenvironment and vascularization. Glioma-associated mesenchymal stem cells (GA-MSCs) have been identified as important stromal components of the tumor microenvironment, owing to their contribution to tumor angiogenesis and their potential to drive glioma stem cells.

Radiation resistance reduces patient survival and is an important challenge in treating lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Previous studies have shown that histone H2A variants can affect the radiosensitivity of tumors; however, the main role of histone H2A variants in LUAD remains unclear. Using the TCGA database, we found that histone H2A variant H2A.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a common intracranial malignancy characterized by abundant and aberrant vasculature. The efficiency of existing antivascular treatments remains unsatisfactory. The transition of glioblastoma stem-like cells (GSCs) into tumor endothelioid cells (ECs) has been thought to cause glioma neovascularization and anti-angiogenesis tolerance, but the mechanisms regulating glioma transdifferentiation remains unclear.

Even with progressive combination treatments, the prognosis of patients with glioblastoma (GBM) remains extremely poor. OV is one of the new promising therapeutic strategies to treat human GBM. OVs stimulate immune cells to release cytokines such as IFN-γ during oncolysis, further improve tumor microenvironment (TME) and enhance therapeutic efficacy.

Purpose: Breast cancer is a major cause of morbidity worldwide and first-degree relatives of breast cancer survivors have a significantly higher risk of breast cancer that can be reduced by altering controllable risk factors. This study examined protective behavioral strategies used to cope with the risk in female first-degree relatives based on descriptions of their experiences, as well as their reason(s) for choosing a particular coping strategy.
Methods: A total of 25 first-degree relatives of breast cancer survivors in 13 families were recruited for this descriptive qualitative study.

Background: In glioma, cell fusion and the number of the polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCC) were found to be augmented with tumor grades (WHO â… -â…£) and closely related to poor prognosis. However, the pathological and molecular characteristics of glioma PGCCs remain unclear due to the lack of cell model in vitro and in vivo.
New Method: Here, we reported a novel approach to obtain the glioma PGCCs by the PHA-DMSO-PEG fusion method following dual drug-fluorescence screening in vitro.

Little is known about multiple medicines and initial therapy among people with dementia. To examine the effect of multiple medicines on the initiation of anti-dementia therapy in patients diagnosed with cognitive impairment (CI), a retrospective study with 2742 CI patients was conducted based on the outpatients' medical records. The dementias receiving 1-2 drugs were more likely to be prescribed with anti-dementia (one drug: OR = 1.
