The incident angle of seismic waves influences the dynamic response of rock slopes. However, the relationship between the back-slope effect in strong earthquake areas and the incident angle has not been well-explained. Based on the equivalent nodal force method and the viscoelastic artificial boundary theory, the oblique incidence of seismic P-wave and SV-wave are carried out in FLAC3D software.

Department of Endocrinology, The First Clinical Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, 100853, China.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) has been recognized as a chronic progressive inflammatory disorder, and Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an independent risk factor for the pathogenesis of CHD. Recent research has underscored the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) as a potent prognostic indicator for individuals suffering from acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This study aimed to delve into the relationship between SII and the degree of coronary atherosclerotic stenosis in non-acute myocardial infarction patients with or without DM.

Event co-occurrences for prompt-based generative event argument extraction.

Sci Rep

School of Computer Science and Technology (School of Cyberspace Security), Xinjiang University, Urumqi, 830046, China.

Recent works have introduced prompt learning for Event Argument Extraction (EAE) since prompt-based approaches transform downstream tasks into a more consistent format with the training task of Pre-trained Language Model (PLM). This helps bridge the gap between downstream tasks and model training. However, these previous works overlooked the complex number of events and their relationships within sentences.

Temperature alters bacterial community structure in sediment of mountain stream.

Sci Rep

Theoretical Ecology and Engineering Ecology Research Group, School of Life Sciences, Shandong University, Qingdao, Shandong, China.

Temperature and nutrients are known as crucial drivers for the variations of bacterial community structure and functions in oceans and lakes. However, their significance and mechanisms in influencing the bacterial community structure and function in mountain stream remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the spatiotemporal patterns of the bacterial communities and the main environmental factors in the Taizicheng River, a high-latitude mountainous stream, to reveal the main driving factors for sedimental bacterial communities.

Prefabricated construction involves manufacturing components in a factory and then transporting them to a construction site for assembly, yielding resource savings and improved efficiency. However, the large size and weight of prefabricated components, along with strict delivery requirements, introduce logistical challenges, such as increased carbon emissions during transport and site congestion. This study addresses the dual-objective vehicle scheduling problem for prefabricated components.

PrPc is expressed in various tumors and is associated with cancer progression, but previous studies have shown conflicting results regarding its relationship with patient prognosis-potentially due to differences in the antibodies used. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between PrPc expression and primary esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using a novel anti-PrPc antibody, 4AA-m, noted for its high specificity and sensitivity. We used flow cytometry to detect PrPc expression in ESCC and HCC cell lines.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been widely used in the treatment of various inflammatory diseases. The inadequate understanding of MSCs and their heterogeneity can impact the immune environment, which may be the cause of the good outcomes of MSCs-based therapy that cannot always be achieved. Recently, stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) showed great potential in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases due to their immature properties compared with MSCs.

Experimental study on ultrasonic reduction of irreducible water saturation in low permeability reservoir.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Puyang Key Laboratory of Sound Field Assisted Oil and Gas Development, Puyang, 457000, China.

Irreducible water saturation is an important factor affecting the development effect of low permeability reservoir. Using the self-developed ultrasonic generator, kerosene was used as simulated oil, the natural low-permeability siltstone cores with different physical properties in Zhongyuan Oilfield were selected for indoor oil displacement experiment, and the effect of ultrasonic action on the saturation of irreducible water in low-permeability reservoirs was evaluated. It was found that ultrasound can further reduce the saturation of irreducible water on the basis of oil flooding.

Background: Posttranslational modifications (PTMs) play critical roles in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the locations of PTM-modified sites across protein secondary structures and regulatory patterns in HCC remain largely uncharacterized.

Methods: Total proteome and nine PTMs (phosphorylation, acetylation, crotonylation, ubiquitination, lactylation, N-glycosylation, succinylation, malonylation, and β-hydroxybutyrylation) in tumor sections and paired normal adjacent tissues derived from 18 HCC patients were systematically profiled by 4D-Label free proteomics analysis combined with PTM-based peptide enrichment.

State Key Laboratory of Plant Diversity and Specialty Crops, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Menglun, Yunnan, 666303, China. Electronic address:

Micro/nanoplastics (MNPs) contamination is a potential threat to global biodiversity and ecosystem functions, with unclear ecological impacts on aboveground (AG) and belowground (BG) food webs in terrestrial ecosystems. Here, we discuss the uptake, ingestion, bioaccumulation, and ecotoxicological effects of MNPs in plants and associated AG-BG biota at various trophic levels. We propose key pathways for MNPs transfer between the AG-BG food webs and elaborate their impact on terrestrial ecosystem multifunctionality.

Litter size in pigs is affected by factors such as ovulation number, embryonic survival, and uterine environment conditions. Endometrial epithelial and stromal cells represent the first site of contact between the embryo and sows; therefore, dynamic changes in the growth and development of these cells are among the major factors affecting the intrauterine environment and implantation. Bone morphogenetic protein receptor type-1B (BMPR1B) is a receptor of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family that has been identified as a candidate gene for reproductive traits in pigs.
