Purpose: To explore the risk factors for mesioangular and vertical impactions of the mandibular third molars and to construct a predictive model based on logistic regression analysis.
Methods: Clinical data of 243 mandibular third molars collected from June 2021 to December 2023 at Tianjin Stomatology Hospital were classified into the eruption group and the impaction group, with the latter including mesioangular and vertical unilateral impactions. The clinical data were subjected to univariate analysis to screen for statistically significant factors, followed by multivariate analysis using logistic regression to further delineate risk factors for mandibular third molar impaction, with the construction of a nomogram for prediction.

Neuropathic pain is a pervasive medical challenge currently lacking effective treatment options. Molecular changes at the site of peripheral nerve injury contribute to both peripheral and central sensitization, critical components of neuropathic pain. This study explores the role of the G-protein-coupled bile acid receptor (GPBAR1 or TGR5) in the peripheral mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain induced by partial sciatic nerve ligation in male mice.

Human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) are adult stem cells residing in the bone marrow, characterized by their capacity for multi-directional differentiation, self-renewal, migration, and engraftment. Serving as seed cells, BMSCs play a pivotal role in the regeneration of bone defects. Hence, investigating the transcription factors and signaling pathways involved in the regulation of osteogenic differentiation in BMSCs holds significant importance.

Objectives: Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) have been extensively used for tissue regeneration owing to their notable capabilities. Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 5 (IGFBP5) regulates osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs); however, the underlying regulatory mechanisms require further investigation.
Materials And Methods: Carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester, an alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity assay and Alizarin Red staining were used to reveal the role of IGFBP5 in DPSCs.

Injectable calcium phosphate cement (CPC) offers significant benefits for the minimally invasive repair of irregular bone defects. However, the main limitations of CPC, including its deficiency in osteogenic properties and insufficient large porosity, require further investigation and resolution. In this study, alginate-chitosan-alginate (ACA) microcapsules were used to encapsulate and deliver rat bone mesenchymal stem cells (rBMSCs) into CPC paste, while a porous CPC scaffold was established to support cell growth.

Background: This study aims to evaluate the integration of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and peripheral blood immune indicators for predicting oral cancer prognosis by artificial intelligence.
Methods: In this study, we examined patients undergoing radical oral cancer resection and explored inherent relationships among clinical data, OCT images, and peripheral immune indicators for oral cancer prognosis. We firstly built a peripheral blood immune indicator-guided deep learning feature representation method for OCT images, and further integrated a multi-view prognostic radiomics model incorporating feature selection and logistic modeling.

Background: Influence on stem cells' angiogenesis and osteogenesis of NAD(P)H Quinone Dehydrogenase 1(NQO1) has been established, but its impact on dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) is unexplored. An important strategy for the treatment of arteriosclerosis is to inhibit calcium deposition and to promote vascular repair and angiogenesis. This study investigated the function and mechanism of NQO1 on angiogenesis and osteogenesis of DPSCs, so as to provide a new ideal for the treatment of arteriosclerosis.

Background: Random-pattern skin flaps are commonly used to repair skin tissue defects in surgical tissue reconstruction. However, flap necrosis in the distal area due to ischemia injury is still challenging for its applications in plastic surgery. The complications of diabetes will further increase the risk of infection and necrosis.

The microenvironment of wound healing is susceptible to bacterial infection, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and inadequate angiogenesis, requiring the development of innovative wound dressings with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and angiogenic capabilities. This research crafted a new multifunctional bacterial cellulose composite membrane infused with copper-doped carbon dots (BC/Cu(II)-RCDs). Findings validated the successful loading of copper-doped carbon dots onto the BC membrane via hydrogen bonding interactions.

Background: Periodontitis results from host-microbe dysbiosis and the resultant dysregulated immunoinflammatory response. Importantly, it closely links to numerous systemic comorbidities, and perplexingly contributes to adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs). Currently, there are limited studies on the distal consequences of periodontitis via oral-gut axis in pregnant women.

Mitophagy is a highly precise process of selective autophagy, primarily aimed at eliminating excess or damaged mitochondria to maintain the stability of both mitochondrial and cellular homeostasis. In recent years, with in-depth research into the association between mitophagy and fibrotic diseases, it has been discovered that this process may interact with crucial cellular biological processes such as oxidative stress, inflammatory responses, cellular dynamics regulation, and energy metabolism, thereby influencing the occurrence and progression of fibrotic diseases. Consequently, modulating mitophagy holds promise as a therapeutic approach for fibrosis.

This network meta-analysis aims to compare the clinical efficacy of seven non-surgical therapies for peri-implant disease, including laser treatment, photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), photodynamic therapy (PDT), systemic antibiotics (SA), probiotics, local antimicrobials (LA), and air-powder polishing (APP) combined with mechanical debridement (MD). We conducted searches in four electronic databases, namely PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and The Cochrane Library, to identify randomized controlled trials of non-surgical treatments combined with MD for individuals (aged at least 18 years) diagnosed with peri-implantitis or peri-implant mucositis with a minimum of 3 months follow-up. The outcomes of the study were the reduction in pocket probing depth (PPD) and bleeding on probing (BoP), plaque index (PLI), clinical attachment level (CAL), and marginal bone loss (MBL).
