Purpose: MicroRNA-34c-5p (miR-34c-5p) plays a pivotal role in bone remodeling, yet its therapeutic potential is hindered by challenges such as instability, limited cellular internalization, and immune responses. This study was aimed at developing innovative scaffolds capable of efficiently delivering microRNAs (miRNAs), specifically miR-34c-5p.
Methods: Chitosan (CS)/sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP)/sodium alginate (SA) scaffolds, referred to as CTS scaffolds, were synthesized at a specific ratio and characterized using dynamic light scattering and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a globally acknowledged diagnostic procedure particularly recognized for its superior soft tissue contrast, high-resolution imaging, and non-ionizing radiation properties, making it an indispensable tool in the medical field. However, to optimize MRI's sensitivity and specificity towards certain diseases, use of contrast agents becomes necessary. Recent developments focus on nanomaterial-based MRI contrast agents to improve diagnostic accuracy and image quality.

Background: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a common pulmonary manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with a poor prognosis. However, the role of blood biomarkers in RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is ill-defined. We aim to evaluate the role of YKL-40 and Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) in the diagnosis and severity evaluation of RA-ILD.

Lysine acetyltransferase 7 (KAT7), a histone acetyltransferase, has recently been identified as an oncoprotein and has been implicated in the development of various malignancies. However, its specific role in head and neck squamous carcinoma (HNSCC) has not been fully elucidated. Our study revealed that high expression of KAT7 in HNSCC patients is associated with poor survival prognosis and silencing KAT7 inhibits the Warburg effect, leading to reduced proliferation, invasion, and metastatic potential of HNSCC.

This study aims to identify the potential association between NHHR and periodontitis. The association between NHHR and periodontitis were examined through univariate and multivariate weighted logistic regression utilizing the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2009 to 2014.

PPARG has been reported to promote chemosensitivity in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HSCC). However, few studies tested its significance in the texture of a complex molecular network regulating chemosensitivity in HSCC. Here, we first employed RNA expression data analysis and literature data mining to uncover candidate genes related to HSCC chemosensitivity.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of orthogeriatric co-management care in long-lived elderly hip fracture patients (age ≥ 90).
Methods: Secondary analysis was conducted in long-lived hip fracture patients between 2018 to 2019 in 6 hospitals in Beijing, China. Patients were divided into the orthogeriatric co-management group (CM group) and traditional consultation mode group (TC group) depending on the management mode.

Objective: To predict the volume and shape of the balloon before PBC by reconstructing the Meckel's cave (MC) and establishing a volumetric measurement model, supporting preoperative preparation and intraoperative decisions.
Methods: The clinical data of 31 patients with good therapeutic effects who underwent PBC are retrospectively collected, including preoperative MRI, the volume of contrast agent injected into the balloon, and intraoperative lateral X-ray images. The MC on the affected side of the 31 patients is reconstructed based on MRI using 3D Slicer, while the volume of the MC is calculated to compare with the volume of contrast agent.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of IL-10 on the phenotype polarization of macrophages and osteogenesis in diabetes mellitus type 2 (T2DM) rat jaw defects.
Methods: Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) were chosen to induce the polarization of macrophages. In vitro assessment included wound-healing assay, western blotting, and alizarin red staining after co-culture of the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and induced macrophages.

Background: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) constitutes 15% of all lung cancer cases, with a comparatively low survival rate. The advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has provided new alternatives for treating SCLC. However, the effectiveness of camrelizumab in the treatment of SCLC remains unclear.

To summarize the clinicopathological features and prognosis of kidney injury after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), to provide basis for preventing its occurrence and development. By using a retrospective cohort study method, we collected the clinical and renal biopsy pathological data of all the patients who hospitalized in the Department of Nephrology of Peking University First Hospital from June 2011 to June 2021 with renal injury after HSCT and underwent renal biopsy, and prognosis was followed up by telephone. The clinical laboratory characteristics, renal pathology and prognosis, and their association were analyzed.

Objective: The aim of the study is to investigate the value of computed tomography (CT) radiomics features to discriminate the liver metastases (LMs) of digestive system neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) from neuroendocrine carcinoma (NECs).
Methods: Ninety-nine patients with LMs of digestive system neuroendocrine neoplasms from 2 institutions were included. Radiomics features were extracted from the portal venous phase CT images by the Pyradiomics and then selected by using the t test, Pearson correlation analysis, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method.

Background: Anlotinib is a multi-targeted receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) which has exhibited encouraging clinical activity in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and soft tissue sarcoma. Raltitrexed is well known to be effective in the treatment of colorectal cancer in China. The present study aims to investigate the combinatory antitumor effect of anlotinib and raltitrexed on human esophageal squamous carcinoma cells and further explore the molecular mechanisms in vitro.

Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), which provides structural integrity and regulates the diameter of vasculature, are of great potential for modeling vascular-associated diseases and tissue engineering. Here, we presented a detailed comparison of differentiating human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) into VSMCs (hPSCs-VSMCs) in four different culture methods, including 2-dimensional (2D) culture, 3-dimensional (3D) PNIPAAm-PEG hydrogel culture, 3-dimensional (3D) alginate hydrogel culture, and transferring 3-dimensional alginate hydrogel culture to 2-dimensional (2D) culture. Both hydrogel-based culture methods could mimic microenvironment to protect cells from shear force, and avoid cells agglomeration, resulting in the extremely high culture efficiency (e.
