We aimed to investigate the quality of bowel preparation segmentally and its effect on Adenoma Detection Rate (ADR) and Advanced Adenoma Detection Rate (AADR) at corresponding bowel segments.

Methods: This is a single-centered and cross-sectional study.

Background: Ketamine, a commonly used nonbarbiturate anesthetic drug, possesses antidepressant properties at subanesthetic doses; however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Materials And Methods: The analgesic and antidepressant effects of ketamine were explored using a complete Freund adjuvant (CFA)-induced peripheral inflammatory pain model in vivo. Mice were first divided into sham or CFA injection group randomly, and were observed for mechanical hyperalgesia, depression-like behavior, and mRNA expression of caveolin-1.

[Efficacy comparision of lumbar disc herniation treated with acupuncture at different time intervals].

Objective: To observe the effect of lumbar disc herniation treated with acupuncture at different time intervals.

Methods: A total of 180 patients of lumbar disc herniation were randomized into an observation group 1, an observation group 2 and an observation group 3, 60 cases in each one. All patients were treated with acupuncture at Jiaji L-L (EX-B 2), Huantiao (GB 30), Weizhong (BL 40), etc.

Background: To determine the range of pupil size that has the largest iris volume in normal eyes.

Methods: 31 healthy adult Chinese volunteers underwent swept-source anterior segment OCT examination in both eyes. Pilocarpine 1% was instilled in a randomly selected eye (eye with induced miosis (ME)) of each participant to obtain iris volume (IV) measurements over a range of pupil sizes.

Rationale: Report a case of bilateral multiple retinal hamartomas (RAHs) in a patient with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and introduced a new method (subthreshold micropulse laser photocoagulation) for the treatment of RAHs.

Patient Concerns: A 20-year-old man with TSC complained of decreased vision and metamorphosia in both eyes for 2 months. At presentation, visual acuity (VA) was 20/32 in the right eye and 20/40 in the left eye.

The Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) China Action on Spine and Hip status (CASH) study focused on the prevalence of osteoporosis and spinal fracture in China. The aim of the PURE CASH study is to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis and spinal fracture, and explore the potential relationship between spinal fracture and bone mineral density (BMD). This study is a prospective large-scale population study with a community-based sampling and recruitment strategy.

Clinical Characteristics and Outcome of Children With Relapsed Medulloblastoma: A Retrospective Study at a Single Center in China.

Relapsed medulloblastoma (MB) has a dire prognosis, and chemotherapy remains the main therapeutic option. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics and survival rates of 60 Chinese children with relapsed MB. The patients received 11 cycles of chemotherapy in sequence, followed by 12 cycles of oral temozolomide and etoposide.

Comparative effectiveness of metformin monotherapy in extended release and immediate release formulations for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in treatment-naïve Chinese patients: Analysis of results from the CONSENT trial.

Aims: Metformin treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) can be limited by gastrointestinal (GI) adverse events (AEs), resulting in treatment discontinuation. We investigated whether once-daily metformin extended release (XR) is superior in terms of GI tolerability, with non-inferior efficacy, compared with thrice-daily metformin immediate release (IR) in treatment-naïve Chinese patients with T2DM.

Materials And Methods: This prospective, open-label, randomized, multicentre, phase IV interventional study enrolled Chinese T2DM patients to receive either metformin XR or metformin IR with a 2-week screening period, a 16-week treatment period and a 2-week follow-up period without treatment.

Thus, it is very important to assess the severity of diarrhea early. A survey of outcomes and management of patients post fragility fractures in China.

Unlabelled: We found that the fragility hip and vertebral fractures caused excess mortality rates in this Chinese female population, which was unexpectedly lower than those in western countries and other Asian countries. This was the first nationwide survey relating to post-fracture outcomes conducted among Chinese population in Mainland China.

Expression profile of polyunsaturated fatty acids in colorectal cancer.

Aim: To investigate the relationship between the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and tumor-associated factors for predicting the outcome of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) in Chinese patients.

Methods: Fresh-frozen malignant and normal tissues from 82 Chinese patients with CRC were analyzed for PUFA composition using gas-liquid chromatography. The levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), prostaglandin E2 and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the levels of VEGF, p53 and Ki-67 were measured by immunohistochemistry.
