Global dairy production, consumption, and trade are growing rapidly, driven by population and per capita income growth and increasing health concerns mainly from developing countries, which has aroused concerns about the related carbon emission (mostly in the form of methane) increase. If all of the dairy products consumed were produced locally/domestically in the developing countries/economies (a counterfactual scenario), the carbon emissions in 2018 would be 28 Mt CO-equiv higher than its status quo (a factual scenario). The present study indicates that unlike in many global trade cases in which carbon leakages are from developed to developing countries, global dairy trade is characterized by net embodied carbon flows from developed to developing countries/economies due to the fact that there is an overwhelming one-way-flow of dairy products from developed to developing countries/economies.

L-Histidine (L-His) is an essential amino acid, which is used to synthesize proteins and enzymes. The concentration of L-His in the body is controlled to regulate tissue growth and repair of tissues. In this study, a rapid and sensitive method was developed for colorimetric L-his detection using Cu ions to inhibit the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB)-HO system.

Microplastics have attracted much attention in recent years because they are able to interact with other pollutants including pesticides, with implications for the potential risks to biota. However, the sorption behavior of pesticides on microplastics, especially on biodegradable microplastics which are promising alternatives to conventional polymers, has been insufficiently studied. In this study, triadimefon and difenoconazole were selected as model triazole fungicides, and their sorption behavior on a typical biodegradable microplastics (PBS: polybutylene succinate) and two conventional polyethylene (PE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) microplastics was investigated with batch experiments in an aqueous solution.

This paper illustrates a simple yet effective spectroscopic technique for the prediction of soil organic matter (SOM) from moist soil through the synchronous 2D correlation spectroscopy (2D-COS) analysis. In the moist soil system, the strong overlap between the water absorption peaks and the SOM characteristic features in the visible-near infrared (Vis-NIR) spectral region have long been recognised as one of the main factors that causes significant errors in the prediction of the SOM content. The aim of the paper is to illustrate how the tangling effects due to the moisture and the SOM can be unveiled under 2D-COS through a sequential correlogram analysis of the two perturbation variables (i.

The aptasensor was fabricated by the attachment of the colorimetric labels onto the magnetic carrier due to the hybridization reaction between the complementary DNA and aptamer. Chlorpyrifos detection was realized by monitoring the color changes of the TMB/HO solution before and after incubation of the aptasensor with chlorpyrifos via exposure to external magnetic force.

Production of chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora) in greenhouses often requires intensive pesticide use, which raises serious concerns over food safety and human health. This study investigated uptake, translocation and residue dissipation of typical fungicides (metalaxyl-M and fludioxonil) and insecticides (cyantraniliprole and thiamethoxam) in greenhouse chrysanthemum when applied in soils. Chrysanthemum plants could absorb these pesticides from soils via roots to various degrees, and bioconcentration factors (BCF) were positively correlated with lipophilicity (log K) of pesticides.

Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora) flowers are consumed as a popular, traditional herbal tea worldwide. During tea infusion with hot water pesticide residues in chrysanthemum flowers can be transferred into tea solution, posing potential health risks to consumers. Using greenhouse chrysanthemum this study systematically investigated the transfer of metalaxyl-M, fludioxonil, cyantraniliprole, thiamethoxam, and clothianidin (a major metabolite of thiamethoxam) from dry chrysanthemum flowers to tea solution at a range of infusion repetitions, duration and water temperature.

The dispersed AuNPs quench the emissions of the Tb-MOF, while the PDDA-aggregated AuNPs have little effect. The aptamer interacts with PDDA via electrostatic interaction to prevent the aggregation of the AuNPs, which protects the AuNPs from PDDA-induced aggregation and the fluorescence of the Tb-MOF is quenched by FRET between the Tb-MOF and the dispersed AuNPs.

In this study, we propose a novel strategy, plasma activated water (PAW) to reduce pesticide residues on agricultural products. To validate its feasibility and effectiveness, we employee high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to detect phoxim on grapes. HPLC results suggest that the reduction of phoxim on grapes achieve 73.

This paper reports a simple antibody-free colorimetric assay for chlorothalonil the inhibition of an enzyme-triggered reaction. The enzymatic activity of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase was significantly inhibited by chlorothalonil, and the color change of NBT-PMS system induced from NADH formation was suppressed, which could be used indirectly to assay chlorothalonil.

A method is described for the determination of the pesticide chlorothalonil (CLT). It is based on the finding that citrate-capped gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) undergo aggregation on exposure to chlorothalonil. This is accompanied by a visually detectable color change from wine red to blue.
