Objective: To investigate efficacy of Lidan Tang (LDT) on gallstone induced by high fat diet in mice, and to study its underlying mechanism.

Methods: Mice were fed with high fat diet every day and treated with LDT (9.01 times of human clinic dosage).

Aims: The dental activities test (DAT), designed to assess individuals' ability to perform oral health-related activities, was initially tested among 90 assisted living residents with normal to severely impaired cognition. This study aimed to examine the reliability (internal consistency), convergent validity, and structural validity of DAT among individuals with stroke.

Methods And Results: This study was a secondary analysis of data collected for a cross-sectional study that aimed to understand oral disease patterns among 207 individuals with stroke from three hospitals in China.

Hypomotility is a common symptom of gallstone disease, which is accompanied by a loss of interstitial Cajal-like cells (ICLCs) in the gallbladder. Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) is widely used in treating gallstone disease, and has shown anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory effects apart from its ability to dissolve gallstones. In this study, we investigated the anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory effects of UDCA on ICLCs in guinea pigs with gallstones.

Oxidative stress is mainly caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS). The damage causes a net stress on normal organs, leading to a gradual loss of vital physiological function. ROS, such as free radicals, represent a class of molecules which are derived from the metabolism of oxygen and exist inherently.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bonding ability of four representative dentin-adhesive systems by applying the micro-shear bond strength (μ-SBS) test method and to evaluate the influence of adhesive area limitation on the bond strength. Two different adhesive application methods were used in the μ-SBS test (with and without adhesives area limitation), and four representative adhesive systems were used in this study. Each dentin surface was treated with one of the four representative adhesive systems, and with twenty samples per group (n=20), each of the four groups underwent a μ-SBS test.

Biliary cholesterol may contribute to the formation of cholesterol gallstones, and regulation of these levels could be a useful therapeutic strategy for gallstones disease. Piperine (PA) is a potential cholesterol lowering agent. In this study, we assessed the effect and mechanism of PA in preventing cholesterol gallstones formation induced by feeding lithogenic diet containing high cholesterol levels to mice.

Objective: To study the effects of glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) on the sodium ion channel currents (I(Na)) of rats' ventricular myocardial cells, and to explore its anti-arrhythmic mechanisms at the ion channel level.

Methods: Single ventricular myocardial cells was isolated from SD rats. The whole cell patch clamp was used to record the effects of GA on I(Na) of rats' ventricular myocardial cells.

It has been proved in recent studies that the chronic gastric disease (CGD) of Pi-Wei damp-heat syndrome type (CGD-PWDH) is closely related with heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappaB). HSP70 can protect the auto-stability of cells and elevate the immune function in organism against tumor or multiple exogenous pathogens. Increasing of NF-kappaB expression presents in case of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) stimulation, it could induce inflammatory reaction, while inflammation factors could act inversely to enhance the expression of NF-kappaB, thus to cause and expand the damage of gastric mucosa.
