Low urinary iodine concentration (UIC) is associated with dyslipidaemia in adults but is not well characterised in adolescents. Because dyslipidaemia is a cardiovascular risk factor, identifying such an association in adolescents would allow for the prescription of appropriate measures to maintain cardiovascular health. The present study addresses this question using data in the 2001-2012 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey for 1692 adolescents aged 12-19 years.

Nanoparticles are attractive platforms for the delivery of various anticancer therapeutics. Nevertheless, their applications are still limited by the relatively low drug loading capacity and the occurrence of multidrug resistance (MDR) against chemotherapeutics. In this study, we report that the integration of d-α-tocopherol succinate (VES) residue with both chitosan and paclitaxel (PTX) led to significant improvement of drug loading capacity and drug loading efficiency through the enhancement of drug/carrier interaction.

H2B ubiquitination regulates meiotic recombination by promoting chromatin relaxation.

Nucleic Acids Res

November 2016

State Key Laboratory of Stem Cell and Reproductive Biology, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101, China

Meiotic recombination is essential for fertility in most sexually reproducing species, but the molecular mechanisms underlying this process remain poorly understood in mammals. Here, we show that RNF20-mediated H2B ubiquitination is required for meiotic recombination. A germ cell-specific knockout of the H2B ubiquitination E3 ligase RNF20 results in complete male infertility.

Conventional kinesin KIF5B mediates adiponectin secretion in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

August 2016

The Key Laboratory of Geriatrics, Beijing Hospital and Beijing Institute of Geriatrics, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Insulin stimulates adiponectin secretion and glucose transporter type 4 (GLUT4) translocation in adipocyte to regulate metabolism homeostasis. Similar to GLUT4 translocation, intracellular trafficking and release of adiponectin in adipocytes relies on the trans-Golgi network and endosomal system. Recent studies show that the heavy chain of conventional kinesin (KIF5B) mediates GLUT4 translocation in murine 3T3-L1 adipocytes, however, the motor machinery involved in mediating intracellular trafficking and release of adiponectin is unknown.
