Accurate prediction of recurrence after treatment is crucial for controlling the progression and improving the prognosis of active ulcerative colitis (UC) patients. Previous studies have evaluated the therapeutic response in UC patients by assessing mucosal healing, using measures such as the Paddington International Virtual ChromoendoScopy Score (PICaSSO) and the PICaSSO Histological Remission Index (PHRI). The PHRI is effective for evaluating treatment response and disease control in UC patients, but its predictive value for short-term recurrence has not been reported in the literature.

Objective: To evaluate the risk factors of new osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) after percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP).

Methods: From January 2016 to November 2019, patients suffering from OVCFs were retrospectively reviewed. The independent influence factors for new OVCFs after PVP were assessed, from following variables: age, sex, body mass index, bone mineral density (BMD), history of alcoholism, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, glucocorticoid use, and prior vertebral fractures, the number of initial fractures, mean cement volume, method of puncture, D-type of cement leakage, and regular antiosteoporosis treatment.

A total of 181 citrus-based products, including dried fruits, canned fruits, and fruit juices, collected from China and from abroad in 2021 were analyzed for the four toxins (ALTs): alternariol (AOH), alternariol monomethyl ether (AME), tentoxin (TEN), and tenuazonic acid (TeA) via ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS). Although the concentrations of the four ALTs varied by product and geographically, TeA was the predominant toxin followed by AOH, AME, and TEN. Products made in China showed higher levels of ALTs than those made abroad.

We reported a case of a 19-year-old male patient with central nervous system symptoms as the main clinical manifestations, and multiple intracranial and abdominal occupying lesions visualized by imaging examinations, who was initially misdiagnosed as NK/T-cell lymphoma but poorly responsive to the treatment. Finally, he was diagnosed as familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis type-2 by genome sequencing, perforin test and pedigree study. The patient survived well after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

This study examined the hypothesis that the microRNA miR-138-5p reduces the osteodifferentiation of human bone mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) by downregulating the expression of forkhead box C1 (FOXC1).
