Objectives: In the present study with a large cohort, we aimed to characterize intracerebral seizure onset patterns (SOP) of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE), with or without hippocampal sclerosis (HS) as identified via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 255 seizures of 76 consecutive patients with mTLE explored by stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), including HS-mTLE (n = 52) and non-HS- mTLE (n = 24). Relevant results were obtained by a combination of spectral analysis and manual review.

Background: Danshen [Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge (Lamiaceae; Salviae miltiorrhizae radix et rhizoma)] class injections (DSCIs) are widely used in the treatment of coronary heart disease (CHD). However, there are various types of DSCIs available on the market, and it remains uncertain which DSCI has the best clinical efficacy, as well as which one is most effective in regulating inflammatory markers and oxidative stress indicators. The aim of this network meta-analysis (NMA) is to compare the therapeutic effects of different DSCIs to identify the optimal DSCI for the treatment of CHD.

Objective: This study was undertaken to anatomically categorize insulo-opercular focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) lesions according to their location and extent, and to summarize corresponding stereoelectroencephalographic (SEEG) patterns to guide preoperative evaluation and surgical planning.
Methods: Patients who underwent epilepsy surgery for insulo-opercular FCD between 2015 and 2022 were enrolled. FCD lesions were categorized into insular, peri-insular, opercular, and complex types based on their location and extent, as ascertained from electroclinical and neuroimaging data.

Psoriasis is linked to insulin resistance (IR). Nevertheless, the applicability of the METS-IR index, a new IR evaluation tool, for evaluating changes in insulin sensitivity in psoriasis populations is currently unknown. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the METS-IR index and psoriasis in a US adult population.

Aim: To explore the impact of up- or down-regulation of Neurofibromin 2 (NF2) on the expression of downstream Hippo pathway genes, large tumor suppressor gene1 (LATS1), and phosphorylation of Mammalian Ste2-like kinases1/2 (MST1/2), in lung cancer cells.
Methods: A549 lung cancer cells were used. The NF2 was down-regulated by si-RNA interference and upregulated by lentiviral vector mediated overexpression.

This review delves into the burgeoning field of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) in the detection and analysis of lung diseases through vocal biomarkers. Lung diseases, often elusive in their early stages, pose a significant public health challenge. Recent advancements in AI have ushered in innovative methods for early detection, yet the black-box nature of many AI models limits their clinical applicability.

Objective: The causes and triggering factors of epilepsy are still unknown. The results of genome-wide association studies can be utilized for a phenome-wide association study using Mendelian randomization (MR) to identify potential risk factors for epilepsy.
Methods: This study utilizes two-sample MR analysis to investigate whether 316 phenotypes, including lifestyle, environmental factors, blood biomarker, and more, are causally associated with the occurrence of epilepsy.

Background: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a promising therapy for refractory Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS). However, its long-term efficacy, safety, and recommended surgical age remain controversial, requiring evidence to compare different age categories.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study recruited 102 GTS patients who underwent DBS between October 2006 and April 2022 at two national centers.

Our study aimed to construct a predictive model for identifying instances of futile recanalization in patients with anterior circulation occlusion acute ischemic stroke (AIS) who achieved complete reperfusion following endovascular therapy. We included 173 AIS patients who attained complete reperfusion, as indicated by a Modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (mTICI) scale score of 3. Our approach involved a thorough analysis of clinical factors, imaging biomarkers, and potential no-reflow biomarkers through both univariate and multivariate analyses to identify predictors of futile recanalization.

Objectives: To observe the effect and safety of acupuncture on quality of life, pain, and prostate symptoms in patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).
Methods: Seventy patients with CP/CPPS were randomly divided into an acupuncture group (35 cases, 1 case was eliminated) and a sham acupuncture group (35 cases, 3 cases dropped out). The patients in the acupuncture group were treated with routine acupuncture at bilateral Zhongliao (BL 33), Huiyang (BL 35), Shenshu (BL 23) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), while the patients in the sham acupuncture group were treated with shallow needling at non-meridian and non-acupoint points beside bilateral Zhongliao (BL 33), Huiyang (BL 35), Shenshu (BL 23) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6),without manipulation to induce arrival of ().

Glioblastoma (GBM) exhibits profound metabolic plasticity for survival and therapeutic resistance, while the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we show that GBM stem cells reprogram the epigenetic landscape by producing substantial amounts of phosphocreatine (PCr). This production is attributed to the elevated transcription of brain-type creatine kinase, mediated by Zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1.

Objective: Fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) is routinely used for presurgical evaluation in many epilepsy centers. Hypometabolic characteristics have been extensively examined in prior studies, but the metabolic patterns associated with specific pathological types of drug-resistant epilepsy remain to be fully defined. This study was developed to explore the relationship between metabolic patterns or characteristics and surgical outcomes in type I and II focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) patients based on results from a large cohort.

Methods: Fifty patients who underwent stereoelectroencephalography and CCEP procedures were included. Logistic regression was used in the model, and six CCEP metrics were input as features: root mean square of the first peak (N1RMS) and second peak (N2RMS), peak latency, onset latency, width duration, and area.
